I think if you dig deep you'll find that most successful startups have an origin myth And the fundamental attribution error basically says if you did something wrong I will conclude it was your lack of skill or motivation If I do something wrong I was an unfortunate victim of circumstances out of my control If you get cut off by a BMW you think that person's a self-centered jerk If you accidentally cut somebody off it's the blind spot in your car's mirror And first-person narratives about failure are full of attribution errors So you get at one extreme the founder who basically blames everything and everyone except for themselves
