Well this is a brilliant song and any other year it should have, and probably would have, won, but are you serious that you don't remember the winner Conchita with Rise Like A Phoenix? I think Eurovision were intent on making a statement that year and a very important one too, as Conchita was fabulous and very important in many ways but this was, in truth, even better.

Our dog was suffering from multiple diseases and we knew it was time to put her down. She couldn't stand, breathe and drink anymore. It was raining sheets while we were on our drive way to the veterinarian and suddently this song started to play in the radio.. we hugged and kissed her and she gave every single one of us a last deep look letting us know that it was alright. After she peacefully passed away in our arms it suddenly stopped raining and the sky turned blue again while the sun gleamed through the clouds. Although you're gone your spirit will always remain here with us. Thank you for 16 beautiful years Daisy ♥ We love you!

One of the very best songs of the last decade in the festival. I remember how terribly underrated was when it was revealed just because it wasn't the typical eurovision song, but at the end it became a classic. I loved it from the 1s time I listen to it and I still love it, is nice to have a country like netherland sending real music every year to the ESC.

wat lief, dat nl verder is heeft heel veel te maken met het visualiseren van de emotie van het liedje: Vlaamse regisseur Hans Pannecoucke heeft dit heel goed gedaan. rusland door ....tja...san marino ook ouderwets gewoon drie keer dezelfde sturen en je zit een keer in de finale blijkbaar. Ik blijf Nederland als liedje nog steeds prachtig vinden kan me verliezen in de tekst of het nu wel of niet hoog komt. Dit is wat ik vanaf het eerste moment van presentatie voelde, dat had ik bij Eva Jacobs ook Belgie voorronde . Jullie het voetbal?

Oh, I really wish they get to the finals. They took this year's contest probably the most seriously out of the 37. This is really a great year for the Eurovision, and this in my opinion is a really underrated song. Best of luck-- this would be extremely popular in the US if it got radio coverage, I'll warrant.

Brennan Winer Yes, Ilse Delange is very experienced and I think she has a great country voice. Though this is the most country-like-song she ever did in my opinion. She and singer Waylon, who is a bit less experienced, but also has a great voice, made an album together under the name the Common Linnets, just when it was announced they would go to the Eurovision Contest :)

I kinda changed my mind about this song. At first I didn't get why they would choose this song for the songfestival, thought it didn't really belong there. Like a lot of people say, it's too good for the songfestival. But now that I see how people in other countries are reacting to the song, I see why this song is indeed good. The common linnets are really talented, we all knew that, and it's really about bringing over the emotions of this song. I hope they get to the finals, that would be nice :) I'm from the Netherlands btw

This is still, by a wide margin, my favorite song in all of Eurovision. Very heartening to see that a tune so subdued and personally emotional can be received so well. Bravo, DeLange + Waylon.

This song is so beautiful, but there is not much talk about it unfortunately. I have only heard this in the past few days, and it's definitely one of my favourites. Even though I think it's a beautiful song, I don't think it's well suited to Eurovision. There are so many songs and this one will get lost in the party, dance tracks. But, although I don't think this will win, it will receive a greater honour. I'm sure this will be the favourite song of many people around the world, and perhaps a song at their wedding, or a song that makes them think of special moments, and that will be a greater gift. This song will capture souls and that's what will make it special.

ildamiano yes, but unfortunately people are distracted! For instance, I'm a fan of the song Cheescake, because it's so catchy and funny. But, when you compare them both it's crazy. These lyrics, the sweet music, everything is perfect with this song. People tend to remember the 'catchy' songs...

Pim Berger yes, like I said I don't think it's well suited to the ESC since the competition is so frantic whereas this song is calm and lovely. I'm very glad that they're competing though, because now I can research them and listen to their songs, as I'm sure a lot of people will. So, it's great.

4 years later and I still stand by saying that the Netherlands are consistently amazing in Eurovision and will hopefully get their win next year! This year's was awesome as well.
