A classic recording of the complete 1986 Metro Toronto Santa Claus Parade (sadly, commercials were edited out) from Global TV, with the lovely Faye Dance and velvet voiced John Dawe. Recognize anyone? Please share your memories in the comments section. And Merry Christmas!
Retrontario’s primary mission is the preservation, research and exhibition of rare videotape recordings (1970s to 1990s) recorded off of any and all Ontario (and surrounding area) TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Love it. Can you maybe find something from the Brampton Santa Claus parade. I can't find anything from the 80's or 90's. 🎄 🇨🇦 👍

I had never seen this particular parade before. It was great! The 1991 parade was the first one I remember seeing, with the same hosts, because my parents used to record them on VHS back then. They did it for the next few years in a row, until 1995 at least. I recorded at least 1 or 2 myself later on (I think 2001 and 2005). I believe Susan Hay and Don Martin were the hosts by then. 2008 was the last parade I remember watching on Global. Susan Hay and Leslie Roberts were the hosts at that time if I remember correctly.

I'm here at four years old somewhere! We used to go every year and park our butts outside the Mcdonalds along the parade route!

I may have been parked in front of television to watch this live. Depends if my parents remembered it was that day. The Ottawa parade wasn't well televised and could have been too cold to go to so I remember Toronto ones and waiting to see Santa.
