Thanks Doug Ford... one horrible mistake after another !!!! More worried about "A Buck A Beer" than keeping this maintained. This was an awesome place!!!! I loved all the levels!

This went from a healthy commercial... To Promoting high cholesterol. Now we find out overloading ourselves with carbs based on the food pyramid was shoddy science. Now we come full circle and realize we should be eating eggs instead.... Again.

Grew up in Flemington and we'd often go to the Science Center whenever it was free. I have fond memories when the "Sports" section was first opened. I really love the displays and the toboggan simulator, and my brothers would always line up to test their throwing speed at the pitching mound.

See kids? This is how great things were when your parents were your age, many decades ago. When governments actually gave a shit about the public sphere. This is what a something that is in state of good repair looks like. No well run public spaces for you though. That’s too much to ask.

This is the most potent, concentrated distillate of seventies Canadiana I've ever seen. When you see them wheeling out the OCR font, you know you're in for a good time.

From a short story by Isaac Asimov. Didn't know it had ever been filmed. Loved the story, though. I've read it many times. It was in a collection I loved that was in our high school library called Tomorrow's Children: 18 Tales of Fantasy and Science Fiction, edited by Asimov.

haha thank you for posting this. As a teen, I kept trying to catch this entire commercial with my video camera, but somehow kept missing it. I only ever got the "AHHH" part where he falls on his face.

You know, I was probably watching that very intro segment, waiting for that new X-Files episode to begin. I remember it too, it was f'n terrifying and apparently too violent for TV as I heard it was banned shortly after? I could be wrong though (about it being banned).

I remember when they announced the Finale date on CityTV - I actually have the commercial on an old VHS tape...I was so devastated the series was ending. I just didn't want it to go. But alas, who knows how the series would've ended up had it kept going. Probably better to quit while they were ahead. Good times though...I'll miss them.

The problem is the past governments let the place deteriorate just like Ontario Place. This is what a lack of investment and vision results in. I went here as a kid and little has changed in decades

It was a co-production with a British company. There were six episodes in all, although this was the only science fiction one. One of the others was a Sherlock Holmes adaptation. There was an accompanying textbook, with all of the scripts in them. I still have my copy. This film the only 16 mm print I own, I have fond memories in high school English classes back in 1982.

Back in the mid to late 70's, I went there so often, I had a collection of tickets. When I arrived for my next visit, I would look ahead to see what the "color of the day" was and I showed the appropriate ticket to gain entrance for free. I loved that place and I never got tired of seeing the same stuff over and over again.

Ah, I remember that dish at 11:10. That was in the old "communications" room. There was a parabolic mic on the second floor and you could go up there and point it at anyone in the room and listen to what they were saying. So much fun back in the day.
