glad you have the passion for these tractors. my family used to own one. I agree with you. but one thing. please power wash it and get all the grease and dirt of it. if I had one it would be washed every week. and I would ride it around at least a hour a day. no more work just for fun. as I don't live on a farm anymore. thumbs up and stay safe.

Thanks. I would power wash it if the washer ran. But it won't start sadly. The dirt, oil, and grease bothers me too. I eventually want to make it look like it just came out of the factory.

Nice old M and good job on the video. Its a late 1950 early 51. Early 1950 still had the old style front wheels vs newer super M style. Late 1951 had disc brakes on the last few Ms before the Super M. 1953 would be a stage 2 super M with live hyd and the battery under the seat. 1954 is a Super MTA.

Those Farmall M's were excellent machines, my grandfather had one of those, his had separate front wheels and spiked steel rear wheels, they started on gasoline and a few minutes later they changed to a mixture of 70% kerosene and 30% gasoline, or 50 % diesel and 50% gasoline, he used his with a three-disc plow, and he also had a harrow, in 1967 when I was 9 years old, the communists came and took everything away from him, tractor and implements, cattle, dairy farm, and white chickens , which he had more than 3,000 at the time. everything passed into the hands of the state. claiming that in a communist state no citizen could own any business. This took place in the summer of 1967 in the island of Cuba.

I quit running the gas out of the carb for two reasons. The float in our 230 farmall got so it would always stick down and you had to go peck on the bowl to get it to smooth up and run good after a start. Second reason is you dont want to forget to turn off the ignition or you'll burn up your points and damage other electrical system parts. You have to keep them started on a regular basis with this new gasoline.

Actually, T is a casting code from 1950. U,V, & W are 1951. The best way fro you to date it is the serial number tag on the bell housing. I'm betting yours says 2564??

Can I use a 12 volt battery to start a M - be sure the lights are off- but was wondering if the 12 volt will fry the generator and voltage regulator ?
@TheGamingFarmerMan
@TheGamingFarmerMan Жыл бұрын
I am not sure what modifications mine has gotten from the previous owners. All I know about that is that it is a 12 volt system most likely due to the starter being a 12 volt. I don't know about the voltage regulator but if the alternator can push 12 volts, the alt is fine. I'd do some research on the voltage regulator though. In my case it's battery to switch, switch to starter. Unless the regulator in in the ignition system, then that could be a problem, but mine is a 12 volt with a resister to bring it down to 6 (I think). I don't know how much of what I just said is true, so I'd get another opinion from someone with more experience.

newbee here. I am about to retire and have a 5 acre property in TN that I would like to plow, bushog, till, and cultivate. What would you recommend? I am trying to find an old budget tractor that I can easily and affordably get parts for and work the land. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. I have been considering a farmall or a ford 8n

I would recommend a Farmall 560 with a wide front end. Around 53 horsepower on the drawbar and 60 horsepower on the PTO. I imagine the plow and other implements are also going to be pretty small since you’re only going to be farming 5 acres. Part availability shouldn’t be too bad and would probably be better than fords.

@@TheGamingFarmerMan thanks. about how much do these cost?
@TheGamingFarmerMan

@@narcissistinjurygiver2932 Around 4 to 5 grand give or take from what I have seen. And may also be a bit more if it’s in a really good condition. If you do go this route, I would personally ask about its history, look at the tractor, look at tire tread, inspect for fluid leaks of any kind, start the tractor, listen to it run and the exhaust smoke can tell you about the engine condition, after that I would inspect for leaks again, then decide if it’s a good deal or not. Here is something that goes more in depth on tractor evaluations. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kMugfZaWuLTdkYE.html&pp=ygUrd2hhdCB0byBsb29rIGZvciB3aGVuIGJ1eWluZyBhIHVzZWQgdHJhY3Rvcg%3D%3D
