Kaioken has always been my favourite power up. The red aura is just so powerful-looking, and it can be useful in ALL his future forms after he learned it, even enhancing them

The fight with Pikon when Goku yelled "Super Kaio-Ken!" was one of my favorites and then Goku used it with SSB with Hit I had tears and shivers lol.

Kaio-Ken is the single best attack in Dragon Ball. I loved it's comeback in Super with Super Saiyan Blue making a mixture of beautiful blue and red.

I always like to imagine how powerful Majin Buu would be if he could use the Kaioken. With the way his body is built, he could probably just use Kaioken Infinite or something absurd and regenerate.

The Kaioken only last about 10 to 30 seconds people often forget that fact. It wouldnt be a good mix for a long battle only as a finisher

Sounds like Kaio-ken was responsible for a lot of Goku’s growth before he became a super saiyan, King Kai underestimated how much the damage of high multipliers would play into Goku’s Saiyan biology.

Great video Geekdom. It pretty much confirms what I thought. The way I like to think about it is the Kaioken is essentially the equivalent of a supercharger on a muscle car engine or a high-performance propeller airplane engine. When you use it, you get a major performance boost, but you need to be careful because if you overuse it doing so could blow up your engine, much like what happened to Goku‘s body when he first learned the technique from King Kai. Now that his body has become more accustomed to training as we’ve seen in Dragon Ball Super he can use the technique without much worry of drawbacks. Essentially, the “engine” of Goku‘s body has gotten way better which means the Kaioken when used will make Goku‘s performance even better. Make sense?

This technique and super saiyan 3 have to be my top favorite ever behind ranking my personal favorite characters. I love everything about this technique that it can be so powerful but is also a double edge sword technique to use so badass!

Honestly I still feel like it was dumb for both Goku and King Kai to not teach the others kaioken it would've been so helpful for them numerous times.

A classic technique love how much went into it with the real life inspiration and how it keeps coming back every now and then.

Let's be honest... "Kaio-Ken",as for the BASE "TRANSFORMATION",i.e. the base state of the technique... SHOULD have an 1.5x Amplifyer instead of having it be a x2,when for x3=x3,x4=x4 and so on,so the x2 SHOULD by the same logic be x2...so only other option could be for it to be an x1 Multiplyer,but 1x1=1 won't make any sense nor any change,so the x1.5 Multiplyer WOULD MAKE THE MOST SENSE,since it allowed Goku to BE FASTER and to EVEN BREAK NAPPA's BACK!!!

I’ve always understood that Super Kaioken can only be used when Goku is dead because the rage power of SSJ would cause Kaioken to go out of control and kill him, so no I do not think Goku could have utilized Super Kaioken against Cell. Also the reason I think he doesn’t have the effects of Delayed Onset Ki Disorder in fights after Hit with Blue Kaioken is the same reason he didn’t really get wrecked as much using it in base, his body got used to it, plus Goku had a better understanding of SSB like you stated. Great video!

kaioken does make perfect sense for saiyans, they use it, it heavy damaged their body triggering a zenkai boost id imagine

I figured being dead was what let Super Kaioken work in that arc (though that implies Goku lost "full power" and the calm it has). If Goku tried it against Cell, it could have worked in a burst, but more likely he'd royally wreck himself. And was Piccolo and co. at King Kai's even manga canon?

Since Cell has Goku’s DNA from his fight with Vegeta during the Saiyan invasion, Cell should also know the Kaioken too.

Before super, I've always wondered why goku stopped using kaioken. But I've realized that combining kaioken with ssj, ssj2, and ssj3 will put a huge strain on his body, probably kill goku if goku doesn't know what he's doing

If I remember correctly, Goku wasn't able to sustain Super Kaio-ken for more than 10 seconds in the Other World Tournament. Amd that was with his DEAD body, which is supposed to be more sturdy and have a near infinite ki supply (bearing in mind that Goku could only use SSJ3 at its full potential when he was DEAD)...

My head canon is that Kaioken is derived from Ultra Ego. Both of them operate in a similar way except the Kaioken has the flaw of not making you stronger with damage taken.

Kaioken is my favorite transformation or technique in the whole franchise and I won't argue that Kaioken is the most potentially powerful techniques transformation in the whole franchise due to the fact that the multiplier infinite only based upon how much stress one's body can take so for example if an angel or Destroyer uses the technique it would automatically be the strongest technique/transformation in the franchise

5:25- which makes sense for several reasons- 1) it's hard to tell the difference between a regular Ki powerup and Kaioken in the manga while Super Saiyan is a more apparent change, 2) there's only so many times you can escalate the Kaioken and have the same investigate impact- it can become stagnant- reducing the urgency of the move, which is why SSJ became more relevant as it is a transformation that is more accessible but also show power when it's not reduced to a gag, and 3) it is no longer narratively important as it would undermine Freeza if he was defeated by Goku doing what he did in the last saga and it wouldn't have led to the cathartic payoff of Super Saiyan.

Base Kiaoken is a .5 multiplier… It’s weird but that’s how the numbers always worked out based off earlier power level charts. Base Goku in Saiyan was 8000 Kaio Ken made it 12000 Kaio Ken x2 increases it to 16000 So if you notice, even with x2, he is still under Vegeta’a 18000 power level. So, an x3 would put him to 24000. Which matches up with Scouter numbers Bulma shows before it blows up.

Highest Kaio-ken: 100x (Movie Only) Highest Canon Kaio-ken & 2nd Highest Overall: 20x 10:55 - I thought the Head was the 5th limb & the other thing was the 6th. 13:45 - Namekian regeneration means that it would work better for Piccolo than any Saiyan.

I want to know what would Perfect Cell be like with Kio-ken? Like Cell has Goku's cells so he can do everything that Goku can do, at least up to that time, and even in the Kai dub Imperfect Cell mentions that he can use Kio-ken to Spirit Bomb, anyway, you mentioned that Kio-ken will break down Goku's cells and that he would damage his body in some way if he can't rest and recover to heal his body with new cells, but Cell has Piccolo's cells, so he can regenerate like Piccolo, and even better than Piccolo, like that time when Goku used the instant transmission Kamehameha on Perfect Cell, and Perfect Cell was able to regenerate from that like his whole head, and things like that, which Piccolo said in the Buu Saga that he can regenerate if his head stays intact, so Perfect Cell has better regeneration than Piccolo and the other Namekians, I'm guessing, but anyway, if Perfect Cell can use the Kio-Ken can he use it way better than Goku or anyone else, with his powerful regeneration that he can heal himself *while* using Kio-ken so he can use it maybe forever, or at least a great while longer than anyone else, or would Perfect Cell not be able to really use Kio-ken? Like Imperfect Cell said that he *can* use the Kio-ken, but as in you Cell videos, and in the anime itself, Perfect Cell has personalities in line with like Frieza and Vegeta, just the cockiness, and arrogance, which you mentioned that Perfect Cell is probably more so cocky and arrogant than Frieza, so if he is like that, would it be difficult for him to actually aline his mind, body, and spirit to actually, or I should rather say properly, access Kio-ken? And could Perfect Cell actually use Kio-ken in conjunction with Super Saiyan? Can you explain that? Please Geekdom101?

The power up really seems more suited for Vegeta with ultra ego.

I 100% believe that the power of Kiao Ken plus Super Saiyan would have been enough for Cell. I feel fine about him being beaten so easily because Paikon was almost on SS2 level to me and cell couldn’t beat Gohan so an almost SS2 Level Goku with all the bonuses would have been able to fight Paikon

About the “Super Kaioken” part. I’d like to add that during the Cell Games arc, Goku and Gohan were training their SS1 states to be used at any state to the point they’re relaxed in equivalence to their “base forms”. (The moment when both of them stepped out the HBTC in there SS1 forms yet everyone felt they were much “calmer” to the point they cant even sense their Ki, stated by Vegeta) In a way, this concept was the precursor to GT’s “Goku’s SS3 strength while in base form” and DBS’s “The power of a SSGSS in Goku’s base form” before the concept was seemingly dropped altogether going into the Buu saga lol (since apparently no Saiyan just walks around in SS1 all casually anymore and still just goes back to being normal “black / purple haired. Doesn’t seem any other Saiyan followed through Goku’s method of breaking the SS1 barier despite it leading to better results). It at least seemed they didnt need to tap into stress and anger to keep the form anymore and seemed more in tune. Going by this, Goku going “Super Kaioken” may have been more plausible than previously thought. Anyway this was a great watch. Ive been needing my DB fix and im glad you’re here to provide them haha

It's probably safe to say that the other Z fighters know how to use kaioken just their body can't handle the physical consequences that comes with it. Picolo would be interesting with his regenerative abilities tho.

With the clamness and control that comes with SSJG, I think Goku would have been able to reach even higher power multipliers in that form. Perhaps Kaioken x1000 with time and training. I like to think that pushing his power level higher and higher in the SSJG form would allow him to unlock more powerful forms, like SSJ3 & 4, but with the red hair/fur. They could've still moved onto blue after fulling exploring SSJG. Feels like a missed opportunity.

Man despite that Goku has pushed himself to some many levels and being hitting godly powers to ultra instinct , I still loved the kaioken dearly even long before Goku was a regular golden haired Super Sayian , the kaioken was definitely the shit , Goku always went beast mode when he felt like he really needed to use it if necessary

I feel like Piccolo would've made a lot of sense for learning Kaioken. Not only because it would make him more relevant to fights, but I get the feeling Namekians could handle it since they can regenerate damage. At the very least, he should be able to easily do x10, given how much stronger he is than Goku on Namek.

I think a grade 4 super saiyan. Maybe able to mix with kioken Just look at super saiyan blue.. With goku using A calm mind and all.. The concept of it doesn't seem far fetch. All the ingredients are there.... I don't think he could have stood up against cell.

Just imagine Orange Piccolo using Kaioken my guy would have whooped Red Cell’s butt by himself no problem.

It makes sense why goku was able to achieve super saiyan first. Though vegeta from his first meeting with goku was stronger, goku always pushed past his limits. By the frieza saga he already passed vegeta in power due to raw training. Krillins death was clearly the trigger but he would’ve achieved it regardless by just pushing his body similar to the ways kaioken does. I feel learning this technique allowed him to be to evolve past his limitations. Super saiyan is activated through emotions not really just being strong take broly for example, but i feel kaioken could’ve played a factor.

Kaioken is one of my top fav moves for Goku. It was so awesome when they brough it back in the DBS anime. Imo if Goku was to pull off even kaioken x4 on top of ssj against Cell, i beleive he'd win if he pulled off a instant kamehameha. Ssj2 is 2x ssj1, so i think all hed need would be an instant to win it.

Loved when Goku used it when he used it against hit in super. Having the red and blue together was pretty dope. Maybe wrong but is super Saiyan as 50x multiplier would it be equivalent to a kaioken x50. Could be wrong but figure it’s why it was phased out as SS is the equivalent to 50x without the strain on the body.

The way I’ve always explained it was Kaioken was double your power. Kaioken x2 =quad power. Kaioken x3 =6xpower. So kaioken x10 is really your power x 20
