It could be both. There are some ancestors from gen 6-8, however most belong to gen 4 (obviously) and earlier.

Mmmm still doesn't prove it, at some point within 200 years their descendants could get partnered with someone else giving Archie his pale vs dark skin. I still think it's not a solid enough reasoning to say Legends Arceus is vs isn't mega timeline.

@@zebimicio5204 I think they're referring to skin color since in RSE Archie has white skin, vs in ORAS he's darker, and the ancestor is white skinned. Granted this proves nothing either, it's a span of 200 years to modern day, any descendant could pair up with literally anyone within that time, so Legends Arceus doesn't fit in any timeline (which seems kind of like they're copying BotW here).

So that pretty much confirms gen 8 is original timeline.

When Ash exists Red does not and vice versa for whatever reason, maybe Red is never born, or his family doesn't live in Kanto or at least Pallet Town, while vice versa also true for Ash. You must be super new to not know who Red is, he's the most reoccurring character in the franchise, he's you in the 1st games Red, Blue, and Green as well as their remakes Firered and LeafGreen. He's the final boss in Gold, Silver, Crystal and as of their remakes HGSS the strongest NPC in the franchise, now tied with Cynthia's post game battle in BDSP. He's in BW2's tournament, Sun and Moon or the Ultra versions grown up, he's in Let's Go PE not as a playable character but another final boss should you beat 6 master trainers, while leaf is the female equivalent in FRLG, and Green being a counter part to Leaf in PE (Green also originally intended to be in RBG but not enough data so the female protagonist was cut from the game). PE is the remake of Yellow which is based off the anime and Red goes through a lot of the same motions Ash does starting with Pikachu instead of Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle but retrieving them along the way while Blue starts with Eevee and it evolves into Flareon, Jolteon, or Vaporeon based on your trainer ID. So PE are remakes of a game based off the anime based off a game.

Which part? The parallel timelines? It's the more accepted concept of time travel modern day, it is sort of in Avengers Endgame. It disproves the theory that you can change time via Back to the Future, as good as those movies are it's believed this version of time travel is incorrect. Zelda and Sonic the Hedgehog are also franchises that utilize parallel timelines, multiverse theory, and/or the butterfly effect (butterfly effect can have its own rules that can tie into parallel worlds and multiverse theory or be stand alone). Let me use an example, you decide for breakfast do you want pancakes or an apple? This version of you chooses the apple, as a result your eating habits the rest of the day are healthy, you eat celery with raisins and fish for lunch, steak for dinner with carrots on the side and a glass of water, no desert. Meanwhile in another timeline you chose pancakes, the rest of the day you eat unhealthy, chips for lunch with a fried chicken sandwich, and a cheeseburger for dinner, ice cream for desert. Meanwhile another universe maybe you say pancakes were the one bad thing for today and eat healthy the rest of the day. Your 1 decision opens up several possibilities, creating multiple timelines where versions of you that didn't follow your path or did branch off. For Zelda this is what happens in Ocarina of Time, should Link fail in some way or die it creates the fallen hero timeline, should he beat Ganondorf it creates 2 scenarios 1 he goes back to his own timeline as a kid, eventually he dies in a war, and becomes the hero's shade in Twilight Princess to teach his descendants his sword techniques, meanwhile back in the adult timeline it's possible Ganondorf breaks free from the seal causing the toon timeline to be created because Link is gone back to his timeline so no one can stop Ganondorf, vs being sealed away forever and peace everlasting of which no games would take place. In Pokemon's case you got at least 5 as I see it, the original games timeline with no megas consisting of RBG, GS, RS, DP, BW, and BW2. the 3rd games could be their own timeline Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum since events take place are different (that being said you could argue each individual game could also be a different timeline Red is a timeline, Blue is a timeline, Green is a timeline but that might complicate things so just sticking with the 5 for now). Likewise remakes are their own timeline also because they are different, the sevii isles exist in FRLG but not RBGY or Let's Go PE. We'll come back to them but for now it's just FRLG, HGSS, and BDSP since no megas to our knowledge. Then you got the mega timeline of which XY, ORAS, and SM take place on... or Ultras instead of SM since mega evolution takes place in both games, but Ultras are more like the 3rd games so they might be on a timeline with XY or ORAS, SM might, there could be a timeline Ultra and XY exist but ORAS doesn't, for simplicity we'll just say there's 2 potential timelines here. Let's Go PE if considered canon could be on a mega timeline. As for SwSh... there is nothing suggesting one way or another megas exist in those games, nor is there any that Z moves exist for z moves could be only found in Alola. Which gets to another point I have, for all we know FRLG, HGSS, and BDSP could be on mega timelines... they just don't have mega evolution in those regions. PE can disprove this for all 3 of them since Kanto and Johto are connected obviously if 1 has megas the other would too, and both Sinnoh and Hoenn are probably relatively close to those regions 1 because of the Sinjoh ruins being 1/2 way between Johto and Sinnoh, and 2 all 4 of these regions are based on real world locations in Japan, Kanto, Johto, Hoenn is Kyushu, and Sinnoh is Hokkaido (which gives us a time for when Legends Arceus exist, since real world Hokkaido also went by a different name being Ezo in the past, around 200 years ago, therefor Hisui is roughly 200 years prior to current day events, also the same time the Bell tower is burned down in Johto, and the Sinjoh ruins were created when clans of Sinnoh and Johto came together to build them from pieces of the Ruins of Alph and Spear Pillar). So if 1 region had megas most likely the other 3 would... but you never know, megas could only exist in Kalos and Hoenn instead of around the world. However it can be complicated even further, because in BW if you battle Cynthia she says you remind her of the trainer that caught Giratina, and since no one knows it exists in DP that means Platinum should be the same timeline as BW and BW2, but not DP or BDSP. So there could be as few as 5 and as many as... only Lord Arceus knows. Gigas/dynamax also complicates things again because who knows if megas exist in those games, and like Z moves they could be relegated to just that region, Galar may be the only region where gigas/dynamaxing exists, so SwSh could exist on any timeline. It's a really complicated matter, hopefully I described it best I can, to save yourself headache I'd just say there's 5 timelines, mega 1 with SM or Ultras, mega 2 with the other one, non mega 1 that could be original games, and non mega 2 that could be 3rd games, and 3rd non mega remakes (excluding ORAS). That or heck the point of these is being an RPG, the protagonists are avatars, aka you, it's your timeline, so maybe you played the 1st 5 regions without megas then suddenly in some regions oh megas exist but they never left their given regions, so your Johto journey megas don't exist because megas never left Kalos, Hoenn, or Alola they're relegated to just those 3 regions.

Also doesn't help that some of these games were grouped together despite being different, for example in Ruby and Sapphire Rayquaza doesn't stop Groudon or Kyogre, that's just in Emerald when both are summoned. Likewise with DPP, Giratina only stops Cyrus in Platinum because the lake trio are capable of stopping one or the either in Diamond or Pearl but not both. Meanwhile you do not need a bell in Gold or Silver, there is no plot to catch Suicune, but in Crystal the bell does exist and is only used for Ho-Oh after you've caught Suicune, though frankly in the original Johto games the legendaries were optional too. You coul go the whole game without ever running into them if you wanted to, also Black and White might not take place on timelines where Diamond and Pearl happen, as Cynthia mentions you remind her of the previous protagonists that battleed and caught Giratina, however in DP no one even knows Giratina exists, it isn't catchable till post game of which you have no need to rebattle the elite 4 and Cynthia, so the protagonists either are the only ones that know it exists or might not even know themselves.

FRLG events take place differently than in RBG, Emerald both Groudon and Kyogre wake up so Rayquaza has to stop them vs in Ruby Sapphire or ORAS only one is woken up, and the opposite team is helping you stop the other team, in Ruby Aqua helps you stop Magma, vice versa in Sapphire. Which is why I also say you could argue it has existed since gen 1, Yellow events are different from RBG, and Crystal events are different from GS. You could even argue each individual game are parallel timelines since events in Gold and Silver are different, or as simple as some Pokemon are extinct like Vulpix in Red while they exist in Blue, or Mankey thrive in Red but are unknown in Blue. Pokemon been doing the multiverse/parallel timeline theories before Zelda or Sonic, it's been going on a while. It has been theorized for a long time, ORAS just sort of confirmed it with the Delta episode, Zinnia saying oh in these games the meteor with Deoxys in it doesn't crash into the planet, vs in RS or Emerald it does, or even further in Mystery Dungeon games (Red/Blue Rescue team also gen 3 games) a world where humans don't exist it is crashing into the planet, and has potential to cause a worldwide mass extinction, until your character sees Rayquaza and tell it to stop the meteor.

It would take a lot of balancing. Because if such a game exists they’d have to design a massive plotline that stretches through all the regions. It would be a nightmare to figure out a satisfactory way to level scale the whole thing so the players aren’t already maxed out OP at the end of the first region. They’d somehow have to mix up the encounters so you aren’t locked out of other regions Pokémon until you get there but also not give you everything immediately. That’s just scratching the surface. Because that kind of project would come with some insane expectations, and it would probably be their first truly massive game. If they half ass it then the fan backlash would be worse than for every other Pokémon game.

Nah regional variants have existed way longer, Orange Island saga of the anime season 2. There's monarch patterened butterfree granted we don't see types, technically crystal Onix could be both a regional variant and the 1st new type introduced weak to water immune to fire, island of pink Pokemon I don't think their types changed but they were all pink colored. Even the gyms in the Orange Islands actually perform exactly like the trials of Alola, 1 you have a water gun contest shooting cans with a water pokemon, then you surf race on them afterwards, another you climb a mountain without using Pokemon, then you use your Pokemon to turn geysers into a bobsled, then you slide down the hill with your Pokemon in a race against the leader, that's just 2 of 4 gyms. Which is why I had hoped in Let's Go PE, being right after gen 7, they'd make them canon, maybe sister islands to the Sevii isles... but they couldn't even bring the sevii isles back from FRLG.

@@lucasramey6427 The only thing in game they say about the new Regi's is that they were too powerful and that's why they were sealed, but apart from there is nothing new compared to the old Regis, in fact its almost the same story, I personally think that they should have said in the games that some Regi's are more common than others (That would be enough to justify why we never hear from the new) and that in the past Multiple Regigigas created the elemental golems that help them better not necessary creating the complete set. but this is my theory, man I forgot about this video, I hope they do after the release of SCARLET AND VIOLET a new timeline
