im so curious as to the backstory of the xu family's great madam. has she always been the main/legal wife of her deceased husband? how many concubines have there been with in the whole xu family, not just the central characters we've seen on camera?

@@nilajakamau7854 I wonder if the backstory of the Xu family is talked about in the book. I've been trying to find it but with great difficulty. The only thing the series indicates is that the Xu family was very prominent government officials until the father/eldest son was setup by the Ou family for their stance on the sea band. It doesn't really talk to much about the great Madam's life as the legal wife. However, it does imply that Lingyi was the oldest living heir to the Xu family that he was required to have many descendants to carry on the Xu family name. I believe he's had a total of 5 concubines. The pressures of being the eldest living son was overwhelming for him. He didn't want all of those wives. It was his mother who pretty much forced him to have concubines for more heir. The same pressures didn't really apply to the youngest son. He was allowed to live the kind of life that he chose. He wasn't really required to have any concubines but because of deception he ended up with one. Although she didn't last long...lol

@@tulsi3549 She might've started out as the 3rd concubine...but ended up being the main wife later on down the line....just like she planned for her daughter....when they thought Lingyi was divorcing Shiyi. They never really go into detail regarding this but I'm assuming that's what happened which would make Lianfang a legitimate daughter if she was conceived after her mother became the legal wife. The GM could've also considered her a legitimate daughter because she was related to her...and because she was so fond of her as well.

Because Men don't usually pay attention on home related matters...but different mother like Qiao...they can play tricks to endanger his life.... So basically your not at ease to leave your loveone on others that you don't trust

Lainfang already put Zhun's life in danger by making him play with an infected dog. Plotting against legal heirs was very common to make way for other children. Also, Zhun has been shown physically weak and over-pampered. That is what Shiyi pointed out when she spoke to Lord about him. That's another reason why everyone is worried about him. Also, why do you think the author made Shiyi give birth to a daughter for Lord? That was just to conclude the story with a happy ending. No sons with beloved wife, no worries for Zhun's status as legal heir to Lord. 😊
