Took Becky 30 years to realize she should have listened to Roseanne and Dan. How accurate this happens to many of us in life.

I think the saddest part though is the actor who played Mark died of an addiction in real life. So, to me this scene has deeper meaning behind it.

I had plans to go to college right from high school was so excited. Instead I became an addict from the age of 20-30. I always thought I was to far behind I can’t even continue with my plans. Well I’m 5 years sober and will graduate in 2 years from college. You’re never to far behind to begin again. This scene was so beautiful.

Everyone needs a father like Dan. A father who can make you laugh no matter how much pain you're in.

Every once in a while, Roseanne and The Connors remind you that what you're watching isn't a comedy but a drama where the characters use comedy to get through just how messed up things are.

"Now I’m so far behind! I’ll never catch up." , I sooooo felt that and I am sure thousands of people will relate to this scene. When your ambition and your reality don't match. it can be a harrowing experience.

So proud of Lecy for coming back to this show and putting in some great performances. She deserves this.

You can see Dan going full throttle, waiting for her to admit that she is mad at Mark, and at herself, then he immediately backs off. Damn John Goodman is good. And Lecy is just perfect.

I lost it at "I wasted so much time. Im so far behind." I think many of us feel that way when approaching 40. Even without addiction problems lol

When she said, “And now I’m so far behind! I’ll never catch up.” 💔💔💔

John Goodman, continuing to show the world how it's done.

This scene is so freaking powerful not only because of the great acting but because it reframes much of the later seasons of Roseanne. Dan treated Mark like a son. Dan got Mark a job with the city when he became supervisor. Dan loved Mark, but it’s so heartbreaking because underneath it all was still this resentment for him. This anger for screwing over Becky’s future. We laughed when we saw Becky’s living in a mobile home. And we never knew what Dan and, likely Roseanne as well, were keeping bottle up. They both loved Mark and hated him. This is going down as one of the best moments of the series and the entire franchise.

It was the “it’s my fault because I let him. I was so stupid....I was so afraid to lose him and then I ended up losing him anyway” whew the tears

When Dan says "whose fault is it?" he seemed to be preparing for Becky to blame him and Roseanne. Then she blames herself. So powerful.

A true Dad's love is pure, yet disciplined. He wanted her to become the best version of herself.

Wish my brother Glenn was still with us and on the show just like before with all his fellow actors. Lecy really did love Glenn.. Cast and crew are the most amazing people and my family are honored to know them. ❤❤❤☘☘

I think Dan's anger in this scene partially comes from his own guilt because what he did to Roseanne was almost identical to what Mark did to Becky. In the original series, Roseanne discussed her dreams of being a writer and at one point considered the possibility of what if she didn't marry Dan. It's the same pattern repeating through generations and he sees it. The original reason Dan warmed up to Mark was because he reminded him of himself. When Mark and Becky eloped, the similarities started becoming too much and that's when he started hating him. Also, let's not forget that part of the reason Becky chose to elope was that she felt that she was a burden on the family after Dan's bike shop went under. A debacle that wouldn't have happened if Dan wasn't so blinded by his zeal to try and recapture his youth. Dan and Roseanne are just as much to blame for how Becky's life turned out as she and Mark are.

Lecy broke my heart in this scene When you finally realize a man you loved was toxic and it hurts so much Amazing acting

I felt so bad for Becky, her finally admitting her mistakes and where she is now ! I was heartbroken when she said “ Remember how proud you’re were when I told you I was gonna be a doctor ?” She was more disappointed in herself than anybody, but I love how Dan comforted her when she admitted she was wrong and called her his little girl ! 💔❤️🥺

I can imagine showing 17-year old Becky this just as she’s about to move with Mark. She would rethink everything and get her life on the track it was supposed to be.

Lecy Gorason's most incredible performance on Roseanne/The Conners, and I'm not convinced she wasn't entirely acting...it seems she put everything of herself in this scene with raw emotions remembering Glenn Quinn. So heartfelt. WOW!

John Goodman is an absolutely talented actor.

This was intense. Lecy Gorenson should get an Emmy for this.

I love how Dan always made Becky laugh. Even in the 1st season when Darlene had appendicitis. He told a few jokes, made her laugh, and cheered her up in a dark situation.

When Dan said "That money was for you to be all the things you were meant to be", that's when I started tearing up.

The way Dan let's first lines about Mark roll out effortlessly, but as soon as he was done you can clearly see the shame he felt for it. Incredible acting by John Goodman. That said, the subsequent response by Becky's actress, Lecy Goranson, was phenomenal. Her portrayal of Becky as broken and self-loathing, having blamed herself for where she ended up in life, was very moving and insanely well-done.

I’ve always considered Dan and Uncle Phil to be the best TV dads

As a recovering addict, I can so relate to Becky right now. So much regret. So much wasted time I'll never get back. I need to start watching this show.

No other character made you cry like Dan , he showed true emotion

"I was so afraid to lose him, and then I ended up losing him anyway", this is what I really loved about Lecy as an actress since the original, the emotion feels so real and powerful. Also, the message, I had my 'Mark', and he's gone and I'm learning a lot about myself and life. Things I wish I could tell 17 year old me, but we can't go back, we can only move forward

This scene really touched me . Becky and Dan both did amazing in this scene.

This is why the re-boot of this family universe is so great. Moments like this. A mistake that was made 30 years ago, finally comes back full circle. Now maybe some healing for Becky.

I love how Darlene acted just like Roseanne just now.

This had me in tears! I'm a huge fan of the Rosanne series but have never watched a single episode of The Conners. It's surreal to watch this and to see them all these years later looking so old. Seeing how their characters lives turned out. Looks like they still managed to keep everything feeling so realistic.

"And now I'm so far behind, I'll never catch up." Something I basically say to myself everyday now, sigh.

Dan thought she was going to blame him like she did when she was a kid. I'm glad they still have that level of continuity

This is especially sad considering Glenn Quinn actually did die so young and under tragic circumstances.

These characters are so real and loveable. They've never seemed like Hollywood cardboard cutouts.

I do believe those were real tears from her. But John Goodman wound up making her laugh in the end. I feel like he did that on purpose to bring her back a bit. Solid acting!

I just want to say that it's never NEVER, ever too late to change your life and turn things around. As long as you have breath in your body, and your still alive there is always time to turn it around. I dont care if your 20, or 30, or 99 years old. It doesn't matter how young or old you are. You can always change your life. You take it one day at a time.

Finally!!! This was incredible!! Remember when Becky blamed Dan for Mark leaving? She followed Mark and this is what happened... I'm glad she came to this realization.

Becky finally sees Mark for who he is.

This is the talk I've been waiting for since the show ended.

After watching this I went back and watched the scene where Becky got her acceptance letter from college after they were married, and Mark automatically got upset with her, because he just wanted her to get pregnant. He just made her the bad guy for wanting to do more with her life. If you love someone, you help lift them up to their potential, not try and hold them down, and keep them stunted.

OMG! As someone who’s seen this characters journey since the original show... I busted out in tears for her 😭

Can everyone appreciate the interested look on Dan's face at 2:42 when Becky started to rant about how it was her fault and he realized she was finally taking responsibility for her addiction? It was the look of a caring father who knew he had to temporarily be a bad guy to get her where she needed to go. You could just hear him thinking 'now we're getting somewhere!'

No matter how many times I watch this scene I still cry. It really hits home. All the mistakes and regrets and now I'm so far behind I can't catch up. All the hope, dreams and potential down the drain.

The actor who portrayed Mark, and that he died under tragic circumstances must have been tough for these actors.

Cried my eyes out watching this scene. I'm a recovering addict and finally started to get my shit together at 35. I had straight A's through out school, so much potential, and now I feel like I'm so behind. The truth in this scene cut me to the core.

I remember when she came back for the first time after getting married. She was so excited for Darlene for being in college which as the season progressed she grew to resent her because she had something she didn’t

She's right it's a 2 way street , she can't blame mark for everything..

Also, I want to add that just as Becky stated, everything wasn’t all marks fault. She should have let him go to Minneapolis alone and she should have stayed at home and finished high school. If they were really meant to be together she could have gone to be with him after graduating.

Man, it's heartbreaking watching the old 80s episodes with the teenaged Becky then seeing her evolve to this character.

Their chemistry is amazing. They are really carrying the show on their backs. This was so brilliant.

I couldn’t stand how disrespectful both of Roseanne’s daughters were to both of them and I blamed both Dan and Roseanne for letting them get away with it

Lecy Goranson should be proud of the work she has been doing on this show. She's been the heart of it for the past three years. She's edgy and raw and funny and poignant. Sometimes it seems like she's a little off, but that's just because--as an actor--she's taking chances. She always reels it back in and makes it work. This scene, toe-to-toe with John Goodman, proves it. She wraps it up with him so beautifully.

Always loved Rosanne and now the Conners. They have always portray real life situations. Lecy & John really got in deep with this. Even though it was acting , I literally felt bad for Becky.

Any fan of the orginal and reboot who doesnt cry to this scene doesnt know the show this hits deep thirty years of pain being confronted

I like how Dan kept pushing Becky until she said it was her fault then he backed off.

I love this show... it mirrors a lot of people and covers a lot of topics... these actors are really good at their roles as family members.

The way he said I will always be proud of you hit home. I was ashamed to admit I needed help getting out of an abusive relationship & my dad hugged me. He said baby it’s not your fault your didn’t deserve that and I’m proud of you for coming home.

Lecy's such a wonderful actress...and John Goodman is just PHENOMENAL. I cried when I saw this episode. It really wraps around to Becky's early dreams and struggles in a perfectly written way. This show knows continuity in storyline so very well and damn, do they deliver in the writing.

This takes me back when Dan & Roseanne found out Becky got married. You could hear someone in the audience go "whoa"

Hands down, one of the two best TV dads ever in my opinion (the other one is Uncle Phil).

It's interesting shows and characters don't usually last so long that you seethe full span of their lives. But we saw Becky from about 13 onward. Most of us recognized how mismatched her and Mark were and how her life went off course long before she was drinking. I love that they are exploring this!!

I absolutely broke down when I first saw this scene, and I break down every time I watch it again. I can relate to Becky so much. No, not because of alcohol or the death of a partner, but because of college. Ever since I was a kid, I had this dream of going to college and becoming a doctor, getting my Ph.D. All throughout grammar and high school, I made straight As, or close to it. Once I got to college, the material was a lot harder and I found it difficult to ask for help, because I didn't want my peers or the teachers to think I was stupid. I was afraid to ask for help. Not to mention, I was born with a disability (I use a wheelchair) and this was the first time in my life I was living independently. Again, I didn't know how to ask for help with the things I needed help with and I didn't ask for the accommodations I needed to be academically successful. My entire freshman year, I did not do well. I was on the verge of failing. Before I actually did fail, I dropped out. Honestly, I have regretted that decision ever since. After that, I started working with people with disabilities as an advocate for living independently. Fourteen years after I dropped out of college, it finally got to me enough to where I went back to the same college to finish what I started long ago. I am happy to say that in a week, I will be graduating with my degree and then I'll be continuing onto graduate school in the fall. Sometimes I wonder though: where would I be now if I didn't drop out; if I tried harder and asked for help? That's why it really hits home for me when Becky says "I'm so far behind. I'll never catch up." I'm fourteen years behind. My dream was to have my Ph.D. by now. This scene is just so deep for me. "And now I'm so far behind, I'll never catch up." This is how I feel in life. I feel like I've wasted so many years without being productive and working towards a good future for myself that I feel it's too late, the gap between me and my peers in terms of where they ended up and what they accomplished, started families, have been working for years, I'll never be able to catch up, the gap is just too big. It's a very horrible thing to feel, the dread and hopelessness of you screwing up the most important years of your life.

i love how they built up to this moment and the root of Becky’s problem. i think two episodes prior she had dinner with that old classmate who was doing amazing things who remembered high school Becky, who was a high achiever. rather than admit the truth, she concocted a whole amazing life for herself. Lecy acted that moment to perfection because you could see the pain on her face at a life she could’ve had...was on track to have. and what did she do? she didnt want to feel that hurt and anger so she gave in to drinking a glass of wine with her classmate. this scene between Dan and Becky was a long time coming since the original Roseanne series. when i watched it, i needed to do a whole woo-sah. Dan and Becky have always had a different relationship and i like that this begins a true healing process for the both of them. i wanna see Becky have some triumphs and Dan right there cheering her along.

I can totally relate to what she said getting so far behind and not catching up. We waist our life on the things that once brought us happiness until it turned into addiction. Chasing that brief moment , trying to relive those feelings and stay there over and over again and again. Until one day we wise up and walk away. By that time it's been 15 or 20 years. Our bodies are tired and can no longer catch up to the demands of reaching our goals because that strong drive, and ambition that energy from our youth to keep us moving forward had already left our bodies a long time ago. . her words hit hard. Now im middle aged, but with God's help I will reach my goals.

This scene. So many levels. Heartbroken. Lived it. But Becky is right. She made her own choices. But now her man is gone. Not that he helped 2 make her life better, but it's not his fault. She loved him. He loved her. Even if he wasn't the most responsible.❤

Please tell me that Lecy Goranson was nominated for an Emmy & used this scene as her Emmy reel? She should have gotten SOME kind of acknowlegement for this scene. The agony, the anger, the grief, the self-loathing & remorse, & the feelings of failure & loss expressed in her face & her voice as she peels back the layers of the onion & progressively admits increasingly painful truths out loud is incredible. I really didn't realize how talented Lecy was as an actress until this scene! It was so real.

Has anyone else been waiting for Becky to admit all this out loud for years? I dont think anyone ever liked the idea of her and mark. As a parent I know it must be heartbreaking to see you child in a toxic relationship and there is nothing you can say or do about it.

The sadness of this, the overwhelming feeling of regret, of loss- God, these two deserve Emmys hands down.
