It was a great constitution 200 years ago but if you look at the constitutions of European countries, you cannot think that this constitution is good and establishes a healthy democracy. The US needs a new constitution. One which establishes a multi-party system; regulates how to fight the climate change; don't put all executive power in one person (unitary executive); impeachment provisions which are actually working in political reality; actually protect human dignity, social justice and human rights in the 21 century; etc....

I disagree with you. To think you could create a more viable constitution in this toxic political environment is not only naive but frankly frightening. To imagine a more perfect constitution devised by what we have in leadership roles today. You've got to be kidding. And to suggest we need more political parties with Europe as your example. You really need to take a better look at how well that's working. The constitution should be maintained as is if for no other reason than that it constrains those who lust for power. Right now we're seeing that lust manifest in every way it can. The only thing we have to contain that lust is this great document.

Another thing we need is term limits on members of congress and the supreme court. As well as real legal protections against abuse of power.

@@joebiz4824I agree with the sentiment of making a new better constitution, but you're right that the current politcal environmet makes that dangerous. That said, this is what amendments are for~

Most of these complaints can be addressed at a state level and that's where they should be addressed. If they can convince people to hold a constitutional convention the ENTIRE constitution can be changed and that is not anything WE THE PEOPLE want these greedy, power-hungry, would-be oligarchs to have a chance to do.
