Always a chuckle when I hear my alma mater on the radio XD Sweet video, Gareth! Love to see lil flights like this, little tidbits of trivia, nuances of the regs and oh, the destinations you'll get to!

I'd like to see how you plan your trips, specifically your methodology for picking airports, FBOs, and arranging transportation, and lodging.

That may be coming up soon. I’ve done a poll on IG and people seem keen to see me fly somewhere.

Twr on binoculars: "Gareth just showed up in the parking lot". Gnd: "Great. Let's go home now". 1:40 - This is really stretching my memory, as I haven't been PIC since 1998... Dredging the brain.... When Class Delta is closed, I think... it reverts to Class E weather minimums, which are shown with magenta lines. Was I right? Fun video to watch.

take that plane to all sorts of small out of the way airports! You are always right at Leesburg, let's see you take it off somewhere for the day. Maybe hit up different tiny hick town airports and show us around, find some food there and fly us home. I hear Everglades city has a great seafood place right down the road and it's the tip of South FL!

I flew to KUNV for one of my night xc for my Commercial, we arrived as the tower closed, We had listened to the ATIS and were setting up for the runway that was mentioned on the ATIS. Twr said goodnight and came back twice to make sure we were ok. Because Approach had setup a commercial plane for the opposite runway from us because the weather favored that runway it was just the ATIS had not been changed. So the person doing tower kept coming back to make sure we didn't have a head on collision. I want to see you get your IFR ticket.

Here the class Delta becomes class Golf when the tower closes. It is still RMZ and also TMZ. As for the next videos, I just like to see you fly and keep telling funny stories and such. 😅

How to make a pilot weather report via radio, and how’s Gretchen doing she still on the program?

In your radio calls simply using "Cherokee" and no tail number is pretty poor practice given there's lot's of Cherokees out there.Who does another pilot call if they need to contact you when it's a CTAF and the Delta is closed? Dixon wouldn't be pleased! Good work otherwise Gareth!

Good point and noted. There’s been a lot of debate about this. People who believe calling the type, tail and color and others referring to just type. I don’t believe there’s an official way of doing it and, honestly, if it were busier I’d probably be more detailed. I flew to Williston a few weeks back and there were 5 in the pattern so I was using the call sign and the color of the plane but I appreciate being a little more consistent wouldn’t go amiss. Thanks for the feedback!

If you review the AIM and other non-towered radio guides, no where does it prescribe radio phraseology where you address another airplane directly. You simply state your position and intentions, and see-and-avoid everyone else. If someone doesn't provide their tail number in an effort to minimize useless and superfluous radio traffic, and you are incapable of not talking directly to them, then just refer to them by their type and location/intention.
