• Fatty Arbuckle starring Fatty Arbuckle, Al St. John and • Buster Keaton . It was the last film co-starring Fatty and Buster together. The film contains the famous parody of Salome created by Arbuckle, who dances just like Theda Bara in the famous film, but with a whole set of pots on his body (4:55).
Synopsis . To boost the success of the restaurant, the chef of an elegant sea-view restaurant (Fatty Arbuckle) and his first waiter (Buster Keaton) perform clumsy dances during their shift, but a stranger /Al St. John) bursts into the restaurant (9:14) and forces a waitress to dance with him, thus ruining the cheerful atmosphere. The chef and the waiter fail to stand up to the bully, which the trusty dog Luke succeeds in doing, and puts him on the run.
(11:36) Later the chef and his waiters are all at the table together grappling with some Italian food... (14:43). The next day, the chef goes fishing with Luke, while the waiter takes the waitress to Luna-Park: the chef creates embarrassing snags with his fishing pole; instead, the waitress, separated from her companion, is chased by the intrusive stranger. The woman, stranded on the roller coaster overlooking the sea (17:37), jumps into the water and is promptly followed by the chef and the waiter who, in order to save her, end up soaking with her.
Cast
Fatty Arbuckle ... the chef (0:09)
Luke ... the dog (0:14)
Buster Keaton ... the cook's assistant (0:20)
Alice Lake ... the waitress (0:54)
Al St. John ... the robber (9:14)
The dog Luke was Fatty Arbuckle's pet and it starred in several of his films such as • Fatty macellaio (1917)... or • La sua notte di nozze ... .
Even after his master's departure, Luke would continue his acting career directed by Buster Keaton in such films as The Scarecrow

What l haven't seen mentioned so far is that this was a lost film, for 84 years. Filmed in 1918 it was believed lost until 2002 when a relatively intact print was found in a closet in Norway. So nitpick about whatever you like, just be happy that this priceless film was found, and brought back to us, like buried treasure.

I like the dog best 😉 And Arbuckle wasn't half bad, but Buster Keaton, and in another Arbuckle scetch a very young Charly Chaplin as a hapless referee in a boxing match, could dance rings around Arbuckle! I also like Oliver Hardy better. There is a reason why Keaton, Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy are still household names while Arbuckle is mostly remembered for his unfortunate role in Virginia Rappe's tragic death. But still - Arbuckle wasn't just grossly obese, he also had talent and he deserved a better fate.

@@Blueberryyymuffin , l fully agree with you, that Arbuckle Was shunned by the Hollywood producers and the audience for something he didn't do. And at the time of his death he was on the rise again, but he was dead before he was able to change his professional career in a more permanent way. Fate can be really cruel! However, I really think that Buster Keaton, Charly Chaplin, Laurel & Hardy, or Harold Lloyd were way more talented than Fatty Arbuckle.
@Blueberryyymuffin

@@sabineb.5616 I wouldn’t say *way* more talented. Tbh I have only ever seen like 4 silent films in my life, 2 from Harold Lloyd, this one, and a little bit from Charlie Chaplin. I would like to see more, but, I think Arbuckle was ok in this one. I can see potential in him, so I think if I watched more of him and others from this time I would come to a definitive conclusion. But as of right now, I think he is really talented.
