This video demonstrates the protocol for the Cooper Test, which is a 12 minute run that is used to estimate someone's VO2 max. It also covers how to pace yourself, which many people struggle to get right.
VO2 max is one of the best predictors of longevity and is something that will naturally decline with age.
As this is an exercise test, please speak to your doctor if you are in any doubt as to whether it is safe for you to complete this test.

Thanks for this video, very clear and interesting! Do you think it is possible to perform the Cooper Test on a treadmill?

I think so. Let's say you think you can cover 2,500 in 12 minutes. Set the speed to 12.5km/s and see if you can hold it for 12 mins. 12.5 = 2. 5 km * 5 / . (multipy by 5 to divide by 12 mins). It's a pass/fail to your estimate.

I can't imagine it's very accurate. There's wind resistance from running outside and you'd have to factor in the belt not immediately being at the speed you set on the treadmill. You could probably get within +/- 5 ml/kg/min if all you want is a rough estimate

how can you not include bodyweight in the formula?

Unlike a cycling or rowing test, running already fully incorporates your weight, so if a 60kg person can cover 3km in 12 minutes and a 90kg person can cover 3km in 12 minutes, they will both have the same VO2 max
