Hello, I am Jane from Falmouth in Cornwall, UK. I am an avid knitter and owner of Stitches and Cream, a yarn shop specialising in natural fibres and British yarns.

It's been a while since we last spoke! And I wanted to have a quick round up of what I have been up to in the last few weeks. Not an awful lot of time for knitting but I have managed to do a bit.

Oh a wonderful place for Your knitting retreat. Fint to see th Danish pattern for the Gudrun socks by Birkefibre. She used to be a handdyer, but unfortunately not anymore. (Birk og Berg) I really enjoy Your podcast. The focus on age is really interesting.

Lovely to see you again! You asked if anyone had any ideas for that beautiful Mothy and The Squid yarn. I am working on The Firey Salsa Shawl at present. It's a free pattern on Ravelry, by Alina Apassover. This is my second as I enjoyed making the first so much. It's more of a scarf really, because it's not all that big. You start with the lace section and work short stocking stitch rows to create the curve. A lovely quick knit.

Hello Jane, so good to see you :) Lovely footage of the retreat, what a wonderful place, everyone looked so happy and content. Maybe the red yarn could be a sleeveless cardigan / vest? It is way too pretty to be socks The Gudrun socks are really neat, most intriguing heel construction. Thank you for sharing, and I do hope the hay fever goes away soon!

The scarf is a beautiful design & colour. For your hayfever. Nasonex spray which must be used once every day. Ask your GP to prescribe on a prescription, Sudafed 60mg. As it is a restricted tablet. "Albanon A" eye drops are a lifesaver for hayfever eyes. I no longer wear foundation makeup as I find both liquid and powder, excentuates facial lines. Just lots of SPF50 moisteriser, a bit of blush, lipliner and lipstick.

I always look forward to your latest episode. What a wonderful setting for your retreat and the weather was perfect. As to summer tops , I have knitted a few so hope I can get to wear them, it’s been so cold but hopefully we will have some warm sunny days. Have just checked out ravelry and found Louisa Hardings Lacy scarf that you were knitting in the most gorgeous colour yarn. It’s called Odella if anyone else would like to knit it too. Thank you for all the inspiration you give us.

The retreat looked lovely- so relaxing! I keep looking at the Garden Cardigan pattern. I’m such a slow knitter and I want to finish at least one project before starting another. I try to keep my WIPs to no more than 3 at a time.

When you have space do give it a go as it is such a great pattern and one I think you will use a lot. I am trying to whittle down my WIPs 😜

I always enjoy your podcasts, Jane. Your sweater is beautiful, I would pick that blue too. The retreat looks amazing, setting was magical. I thought I saw a palm tree! Beautiful to be in the water. It's the warmest area of all UK, right, with the effects of the gulf stream?

A lovely video Jane, I bought a kit from Yarntelier for a lacy scarf many moons ago from Yarndale you've made me want to dig it out as it is such a pretty scarf. I love it when you have footage of Cornwall I used to live in Helston in the eighties my late husband was in the Royal Navy and was stationed at Culdrose and my elder daughter was born at Treliske hospital. I have very happy memories of our time there. I'm going to Ally Pally this year so I will come and say hello.

Hi Jane, lovely to see you again! I have heard that eating locally produced honey can help with hayfever, i haven't tried it but might be worth looking into? Its a windy but sunny winter's day here in NZ and I'm catching up on podcasts while knitting on a musselborough hat for me after lots of knits for others, which feels deliciously self indulgent. I had to giggle at your spanx interview story in the last podcast - i remember in my early 20s working in a cafe with uniform provided but i wanted to get into office work so took a carefully ironed and then carefully rolled outfit stashed secretly in my bag to work, ready to change into for an office role interview after shift. Only to discover the blouse was so rumpled from being rolled all day! i must have looked quite a sight but went to the interview regardless. The interviewer never mentioned it, bless her, probably sensed my embarrassment 😮😅

The retreat looks lovely. I’ve done a couple and the shear pleasure of permission to just create with like minded others is just bliss! Can you tell me what happened to all the money we sent in for the knitting academy thing you were going to start?

Hi. Thank you.Yes of course the money went towards creating the Cornish Knitters Flock which I mention in the video, a social platform for education, inclusion and community, with the majority spent on the licence fee and web design. The rest was self funded. The academy will be on there and I will also be creating stand alone classes but that will be next year. ☺️
