Big Pharma turned the United States into the most lucrative market in the world by rigging the system. For 20 years, they’ve successfully denied the government the ability to negotiate prices for Medicare. That could end soon. But pharmaceutical companies are waging a war to protect their profits.
We're exposing the bogus legal strategies they're using to keep your drug prices high.

I sympathise with your sentiment but that is a seriously bad idea. There are always going to be people that take that too far and there is a risk of harm to the innocent families of these leeches. Not to mention if it is successful it will just mean the other side will start doing it to people trying to do the right thing and everyone will be afraid of doing anything remotely controversial for fear of being publicly stalked.

It is not just greed. It is also group shifts and the bystander effect. Corporations are groups, in which every one is supposed to only display part of their mind which is committed to making profits. It is not so much about the individuals inside these corporations (some of them are evil, or on ideological auto-pilot) but the kind of cognitive network the situation of corporations gives birth to. What people don't seem to understand is that these people don't live by the same moral standards we do. It's like expecting a scorpion to stop using its sting because "It's not morally right to sting". Our rulers are just doing what rulers do (Yes - Rulers. Not "Leaders"... Rulers). They are in the business of manipulating the masses to gain power and profit by any means. When people start getting into their heads that we are simply being farmed like cattle, there might be some gradual movement in a direction that favors the people. And I mean everything, every innovation, down to the needles and admistration devices and means, that all comes from the US military and US tax dollars. EpiPens? there are many multi billion dollar pharmaceutical companies in Europe, Korea, Japan etc. that are among the best and most advanced in the world, they sell mainly to governments with universal healthcare, some cannot breach the US market due to US companies lobbying against them coming in and introducing competition. these companies outside the US are doing very well, making good profits and providing quality products that match or exceeds their US counterparts. The only difference is the US companies spends more then their production and research costs on marketing, lobbying and even greater on middlemen like insurance companies.

In Brazil, the 1988 constitution enacted a single payer non profit health insurance. It’s called SUS. A system of last resort. When patents were not broken for drug therapeutic treatments such as AIDS retroviral drugs , our impoverished but functioning single payer health care system negotiated prescription drugs with generic and OEM drug makers My late father , who developed Alzheimer , a Medicare beneficiary , cost us out of pocket over USD 500 a month for prescription drugs. We moved back to Brazil, and the same prescriptions cost us Zero Reals. And a once in a month hour long wait for refills at the State run dispensary. And some drugstores do carry free common prescription drugs through a federal program. They figured they might get the shopper to buy other for profit shelf items. The quality of care is far from perfect , but it functions as a last resort way to get health care.

Americans "think" they have a good Healthcare system. My father fell while on vacation in France. We were on a house boat on a river and stopped at a small camp ground for medical help, this was on a Sunday. The hospital in the nearest city SENT A DOCTOR TO THE CAMPGROUND to examine my dad. She said he had broken ribs and drove dad to a nearby small town, to a pharmacy. She got the pharmacist to open his store, she took dad to the back to an exam table, wrapped his chest and got him medicine for the pain. The hospital arranged free transportation the next morning, Monday, for chest x-rays. EVERYTHING WAS FREE. In America you'd have to be a multi millionaire with an expensive contract for "concierge" doctor services, in order to receive the same level of service that everyone in France receives. We were Americans on vacation, dad is NOT a French citizen, we aren't rich or special. Americans cannot imagine how good it could be, until you see it with your own eyes.

I've got another one that's obviously a thing that's everywhere, but always wonder who keeps pushing it; The obsession with pushing narratives about social unrest in movies and TV. Detective Pikachu starts off talking about Pokemon and people living and working together in peace, an obvious heavy handed reference to melting pots. Live action Cowboy Bebop starts off with this whacko ranting like a conspiracy theorist about "WHO DO YOU WORK FOR??!" I mean politics is one thing, but they wear the fact they're scared shiteless of an Arab Spring happening here in the west on their sleeves, and I can't imagine your average sceen writer is obsessed with that, so why is it in everything produced by Hollywood and major networks? Who keeps demanding that it gets cribbed into everything and anything, no matter the content? I will say the reason manga and anime are so popular is because they don't push the same hangups, Luffy just wants to be a pirate king and beat up bad guys, Goku just wants to keep testing his limits, the theme us usually sportsmanship or competition and not some social programming BS the powers that be are kept up night's over and just have to reminds us over and over again about so we don't burn the county to the ground.

Interesting that the industry can look for a friendly judge and just file suits in those states, the implication of this is astounding and in most high profile cases we see rich criminals trying to have their cases moved to certain courts, this shows that these judges may not rule following the law or use their own interpretation of the law and this is a massive fault in a legal system that is based in law. If a law states one thing how can different judges have different rulings and this has been found over and over that some judges just twist laws to get people released they don't want a jury convicting or as happens quite a lot court cases are controlled by a judge to sway juries to convict someone who is innocent.

In fact we already pay more than enough in taxes to cover healthcare. Canadians actually pay 4% less than us in taxes and have free healthcare. And its better than ours too, don't listen to the propaganda. If you just look up life expectancy by country you will see that the US is in 47th place. Well behind every country with socialized medicine and behind several third world countries with socialized medicine too. 'You know what? The American people think negotiating is very reasonable and fair pricing is essential.' Call your congresspeople with this message now! The lobbyists work to sway the congresspeople, why don't our calls work too? People say that phone calls don't do anything BUT THEY DO. You can just leave a message! There are staffers that have to listen to and tally those messages. Honestly, you gotta do something instead of bitching that it doesn't work, because with that mentality, it definitely won't.

Competition is supposed to take care of such problems, but cartelisation, status quo or psuedo-cartelisation is able to overcome the problem posed by competition.
