Simply reacts to the Funny Moments and Crazy Fails of Super Mario 64 Speedrunning. In order to get the SM64 World Record, you must fail a couple of times. Who knows, maybe a Speedrun Fail can turn into a New Mario 64 Strategy / Speedrun Skip, like chip clip or framewalk. While a ton of progress has been made in Mario 64 speedrunning, we can't forget about all the speedrunning fails. So, this Mario 64 compilation combines that. Hope you enjoy!

7:20 so he kicked the red coin and grabbed the coin star at the same time which caused the red coin star to try to play the cutscene, but because a star was already being collected, that star's cutscene took priority and it skipped the star spawn animation. This is probably the same difficulty as (or harder than) a double star spawn and probably saves just as much time.

There's just a BIT too much LunarJump in my opinion. Other streamers got a bit left behind. Some were lucky with 10+ clips, but noone got even close to his 50+ clips in this one video.

11:05 i think the box broke because the pole despawned when mario went to run around the other pole, allowing the box that was resting on top of it to fall through it to sit on the ground. and then he got close enough to respawn the pole, and since the box was inside the pole’s collision, it ended up breaking

It’s because objects in the game have a sphere of tangibility Mario must be in to have hitboxes, since they aren’t a part of the level geometry. Mario left the geometry of the post, so the box fell. He then reentered the sphere, intersecting the box, breaking it

7:39 someone prob already pointed this out but he somehow unlocked a star on the same frame he picked up the star in front of him, which is why it got stuck on that first frame of animation

At 11:00 I think when he got the box out of the camera's view its collision disappeared and it fell through the pole, and then when he changed the camera angle it reactivated the collision and exploded

I gotta wonder if the few frames per star is worth it (unless you’re doing WR 120 runs) to go down to Continue, Don’t Save versus just Save and Continue. Seems like when you’re just running it seems like it’s an easy way to end up getting screwed by Save and Quit. Although if you’re gonna play long enough you might as well learn it early. It adds up in 120 for sure.

Okay, so let me explain how this works. When that menu comes up, the game makes you wait for I believe 7 frames before any options can be pressed. If you can get down to "Continue, Don't Save" in those 7 frames, then there's no time loss getting to it at all. There's also a way to buffer the first down press, so basically you only have to tap down once in those 7 frames and you're golden. I don't remember how long it takes the game to save, but if you're at the top level of speedrunning that's as close to free timesave as you'll get. Even in 0 and 1-star, saving those frames is worth it.
