Going off the cuff here but I'd have to rate this as one of the Top 5 greatest/most famous MNF games ever. Other games that spring to mind: 1978 Dolphins vs Oilers "The Luv Ya Blue Game" 1985 Bears vs Dolphins "Dolphins protect their franchise undefeated season mark against the vaunted Bears" 1983 Packers vs Redskins "offense up the wazoo" 2018 Chiefs vs Rams "Video game come to life"

Watch a game from the 80's, or 70's, or 60's, or I think you get the point. The game has progressively become less dangerous. At one point in the early days they basically all lined up and went head first into each other. Eighteen people died in college football in one year from head injuries.

@@memeteam2692 this was in the early days of American football before there was an nfl. The game was very nearly banned for being so dangerous. That’s why I get a kick out of people saying the game today is soft. Guy’s who played from the late 19th century to the early 1900s would say the game in 1920 was soft, guys who played in the 20s and 30s would say the game in the 50s and 60s was soft, 50s-60s guys would say they 80-90s guys were soft. You get the picture. The game has simply evolved.

Classic. One of the greatest games I have ever watched live. My Co worker slept on it early "What do mean they f***ing win? That's not possible!" And would not believe me until he saw the daily paper 😅

👏👏👍. I was living in a mid-town nyc apt with my wife & 3 month old baby son, & made a wish to the football gods, that, if the jets win, I'd scream out our the window: "j-e-t-s"! At about 1am in the morning, I woke the neighborhood & our son up by screaming up & down 49th st. He woke, stared at me & went back to sleep. He was captain of his H.S football team, is in college now, bleeds green & white, & is looking forward to the 2020🏈season. thanks for posting, fun memory 🍻👍🖒

you clearly don't watch a lot of football if you think the jets are "one of the most uninteresting teams" maybe you think that because of the past 2-3 years (even then the jets had some of the biggest upsets during those seasons) LOL

I stand corrected. The Jets are one of the 30 most interesting teams in the history of the NFL. When people bow their heads reeling off absolutely legendary names like Unitas, Elway, Montana, Emmitt, Sweetness, Juice, and Gale, you can bet your intelligent ass that they quickly follow up with "The New York Jets". Not the Packers. Not the Cowboys. Not Montana's 49ers or the Steel Curtain or even the Purple People Eaters and the Fearsome Foursome. Not the No Name Defense. Nope, they say, "The New York Jets". The dynamic, legendary, fascinating, and - what else - INTERESTING teams of them all. Glad you straightened me out on that ;)

I was there up until the start of the fourth quarter. My friends and I decided to get ahead of the heavy traffic back into Manhattan. We could hear cheers out on the concourse and again on the exit ramps and still more in the parking lot. We turned on the radio in the car and listened… we were convinced that if we tried to re-enter the stadium we would jinx it.

Rembering you Kid . ,,,,,,,,,,,,,At :10 me and my son Anthony were at the 40 yard line 13 rows deep . The day after his 10th Birthday . We were getting blown out but when Coles scored it gave us something to cheer about . Then Wiggins scored and everything was going the Jets way . Chrebet sets up the field goal and we’re down by 7 with plenty of time . But it was the Cox sack that got my boy up on his feet jumpin up and down as loud as can be . We were late , missed most of the 1st quarter so staying late didn’t bother me so much . I noticed a lot of the fans left and was glad we stayed . Jumbos catch made it a great comeback , but Coleman’s 2nd int. made it a miracle . Chrebet gets us in field goal range and Jason Taylor was practically in tears . Hall kicks the winning fg and me and my son are high 5ing everyone . Whatta night , huh Ant ? RIP son , till I’m with you again in Heaven .,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I’m a dolphin fan since the 70’s when I first started watching football and growing up on LINY where most people were Jets fans. Bob Griese and Don Strock were the QBs with Tony Nathan at RB and Nat Moore at WR, Killer B’s on D. I remember so many moments over the years, AJ Duhe mud bowl vs Jets, the 81 chargers/dolphins hook and latter play, 85 bears Monday night to preserve only undefeated season, fake spike play…I go to college at Niagara 91-94 the 4 years the Bills go to the Super Bowl, I’ve been to Dolphin games in Buffalo/NE/NY/Miami and they’ve never won. This was the last game I ever attended and knew then it was just not meant to be. It’s been a struggle being a fan the first 2 decades of the 2000’s but I hope McD can be our next Shula and get this team back into the Super Bowl story

I have been a Jets fan forever. I had moved to the Carolinas in August 2000 but still bled Green. I got stuck working late this Monday night when all I wanted to do was watch the Jets on MNF. I walked through my door rushed to the TV...the Jets were down 30-7. I was so tired I rested my eyes(for about 6 hours). Woke up to find out that I missed the Jets greatest game of all time. Murphy's Law. Go Green!!!!!

I was at this game. The ONLY reason I stayed was because of how much I paid the scalper for the tickets. When I got home, both my parents were sleeping. They went to bed at beginning of the 4th. I woke them up and we celebrated… they are definitely I. Heaven right now excited about us getting rodgers!

Exactly...no more Barry Sanders handing the ball to the official in the end zone after another astonishing TD run...class and sportsmanship. Long gone from the NFL. I blame it all on Willie "White Shoes" Johnson. Even as Jet fan, I hated when Mark Gasteneau did his celebrations. This is what they teach the next generation.
