When you think about it, Mario's always been kinda jazzy. The first 3D Mario game, Super Mario 64, has a jazz song called Bob-Omb Battlefield, a jazz song that more or less serves as the game's unofficial main theme. Heck, even the original Mario 1 theme is jazz-inspired. I think it's more obvious now that we have higher quality samples and instruments, but I'd argue Mario has always leaned heavily into jazz since the beginning.

i call it the cat effect. ever since 3d world, mario has been primarily jazz in its soundtracks. odyssey, mario kart, mario party, everything has been jazz since 3d world.

@@FirstNameLastName-oz5ijit makes complete sense because Koji Kondo was a jazz guitar minor. He worked at Nintendo as a programmer and because of that minor he ended up being put on the music. Crazy how easily we could have been robbed of one of the greatest musical legacies of the modern day

Had to come here after watching The Super Mario Bros. Movie for the first time. All of the reviews are nothing. As someone who’s been a Mario and Nintendo fan all of their life, this was the movie for me, which is why it is my favorite movie of all time now. 3D World isn’t my favorite Mario game, nor does it have my favorite OST, but this just felt like the appropriate song to comment on something like this. Thank you Nintendo.

Actually, Universal endorsed fan praise in one of their trailers showing who the true public is, the 96% audience score from Rotten Tomatoes (screwing the 54% tomatometer) is a proud achievement.

Indeed, but bringing BACK the jazz was seriously an amazing idea; it just fits the cartoony nature of the series so perfectly, I think that's why it works. Also, mixing jazz with heavy metal was possibly one of the greatest musical ideas of the 2010's. It's so epic.

ah yes, the first game I ever 100%'d. I felt like i accomplished something. sure, it may be a silly game about silly characters and silly cats, but this game was special to me. hell, i still have my old wii u with my old copy of this game. this game got me through elemetry school, as well as quarentine. now I'm in high school, and MAN. time flies.
