the multiplayer bit is so clever there's so many things you could do with that. you could totally make live camera feeds of random people's singleplayer servers, cause remote events, you could do dark souls invasion type stuff, so many possibilities.

I loved how cooperative the creator of the map was. I asked them how they had rooms appear and disappear, and they gave me the whole source code to their own modified version of seamless portals. I didn't figure it out because i am dumb, but it just shows that the creator is a nice guy

I explored this map with my friend, it was extremely fun but even after we uninstalled it the Gordon statue thing and mingebags kept showing up so we were literally unable to play GMod normally for like a week

I also want to mention that it's super nice of the creator to upload an alternate "v2" of the map without the spooks so one can appreciate the little changes on their own and in my case, even use it over the vanilla Construct.

Back in 2012, me and my friends we're so curious about this map. We would explore the whole area to see if we could find any "Easter eggs" around, but nothing. Something only caught our attention when we first played the map, obviously it was the black empty rooms. Clueless, we roamed the area with flashlights and find nothing but only empty liminal space. The next day, i played on the map once again but with myself. I've never felt so uncomfortable on a game before that's why i left as fast as i could, and i came back with my balls of steel. I investigated the dark room, just to be surprised with an eerie background music. I genuinely left the game with my heart beating so fast. I told my friends about it and we all started to play together to further explore the place, and once again the music played but we chose to ignore it. We never tried to enter the next 2 dark rooms because we we're in a limited time. But after that we chose to give up exploring the area considering of the uncanny feeling.

Finally someone covers this map even after all the hype is over, I remember playing the hell out of it with my friend

This is like MyHouse.wad with all the seamless teleportation used to confuse the player. They're also both marketed as small and simple maps, but instead have massive secrets.

xalalau isn't just any gmod veteran. the dude is pretty much the messiah of the brazilian gmod community. the dude has been here literally since the beginning, creating stuff and fucking around with loads of projects, from simple addons to organizing a portuguese translation effort for half life. I used to make really silly machinimas when I was a kid, and xalalau made me a map specifically for me to use in one video, gm_kitchen. it's still up on the workshop, and as I've just learned, they even made a remastered version with ARC lore in it! that's just wild to me!

I can't get over the unimaginable cleverness that just oozes out of this map. Dude made his own multiplayer client for the sole purpose of catching people off guard with a minge jumpscare. I love it..

This map honestly just feels like a love letter to Gmod ARG enthusiasts. It has some of the most common tropes seen in Gmod ARG's and they use them all very well in my opinion. Imputing commands, dark shadowy people, mysterious entities, radios, teleporting, all of it. The amount of work and loopholes and work-arounds the team behind this would have had to do within the Source Engine really impresses me and I am very intrigued to see how far it'll go...

I have hundreds of hours in gmod since I got it in 2012 (Construct having last been updated on my 18th birthday was a cool and kind of spooky coincidence.) and I’ve always felt an eerie vibe from that dark room. That moment with the light flickering and what appears to be dust kicking up from something movin absolutely made my hair raise. That’s so unnerving and I love it. The creepy atmosphere naturally ingrained in this map being used as the catalyst to actually place creepy happenings is such an awesome idea! Bravo to the creators!

Holy crap. I thought I dreamed up all those details about Construct, especially the tunnels at 7:10 . I remember playing the beta and I (as well as *alot* of other people) really hated the new UI. Silly in hindsight but we were so used to gmod 12. I never realised that gm_construct got updated when Gmod 13 got its full release and for years I've thought that I was going insane, remembering a bunch of very specific details about construct that could no longer be found. I can finally rest easy knowing that I was in fact, not a complete lunatic.

People look at GM_Construct and never think about the fact that it looks like it was designed for combat. Embrasures on the walls - chokepoints, the mirror room can even be defined as a bunker.

Was this just the year every map maker decided to read House of Leaves? I swear this is like, the third time people have gone out of their way to perfect the most advanced methods of warping and level tricks for a map!

Even though I went in blind, an addon I had caused LUA errors that spoiled me on how the tunnels work: certain sections have portals that teleport you to other parts of the tunnel system, and they're not always active. The same error also tipped me on the whole mirror portal, too. Though I don't think I would have thought about entering the mirror at all, so I guess I have this error to thank for helping me out lol

I am so glad i was able to experience this map blind, at the time i had not even heard of "haunted" maps before, and thought this map was just what it said on the tin, so seeing the weird occurrences happening around me was absolutely insane. Really too bad i didn't record it.

When I played on this with my boyfriend, we were just fucking around and exploring. I found the "Oracle" and it had the tip to put the doll on the chair. When I went to do it, my bf just thought it was gonna be some silly easter egg. I then proceeded to scream so loudly my bf actually thought I got attacked irl when the chair started, well, doing its thing and I got stuck in the dark room. I play horror maps, bad and good ones, as a hobby in Gmod and that? Yeah that was genuinely one of the most terrifying things I've experienced in this silly game about ragdolls humping (Among other less important things, obviously)

I’ve accidentally played this with my friends once, I thought it was just normal construct and then there were some anomalies, multiple old characters floating in the mirror realm, a statue-like creature and multiple shadow creatures.. none of them were players, as I’ve hovered my mouse over them and nothing popped up.. I was and still am new to playing gmod, so I was confused (and scared) why the anomalies were in “canon” gmod areas, but now I know it’s a custom map thing Edit: the “cough” virus happened to me in the thing I was with my friends in, too, I was kind of scared.. and I also experienced that reality breaking portal thing with the curse detector and dark room, my friends found it and I kinda went with it

The storytelling of the map's creator and the amount of thought & creativity is ungodly. I haven't seen many things quite like this since I started playing in 2009. I'd downloaded this map and played on it a couple dozen times without really 'exploring'. Wild to think that this map from a game I stopped playing years ago had so much more to it. I never would've found out if not for the video.

very well done! it's cool to see all the changes and updates to the map after i (and the other small handful of early pioneers of the map's discoveries on the third to last dev exploration notes post) covered it for a time, especially in the hints department - it was really hard finding certain puzzles blind ~2 years ago for anyone curious this video did miss a few spooks so i'd say it's certainly worth it poking around for yourself to see what you may stumble upon!
