By the look of it it reminds me more of "The Darkness" which I would have rather seen adapted to the screen instead of a reboot of The Crow. It's Brandon's legacy and it's perfect the way it is, it doesn't need any remakes! "The Darkness", however, would have been a good candidate for an adaption, given that it's also written by Garth Ennis (together with Marc Silvestri) and we already have two very good adaptions of Ennis' creations: _The Boys_ and _Preacher_ (both by Amazon Studios) I would like to see a "The Darkness" adaption next. It's a similar story as "The Crow", it's also about a young man getting supernatural, dark powers to go on a revenge rampage to avenge the murder of his girlfriend. However, unlike The Crow, which is perfectly fine with practical effects, Jackie Estacado's powers, the Darkness, would greatly benefit from modern CGI.

IMDB first line: "Soulmates Eric Draven and Shelly Webster are brutally murdered". This implies a reboot and therefore invites the comparison, but could have been avoided. The "Crow brings you back from the land of the dead" concept could be applied to anyone, which is why I was never upset by any of the sequels. Eric Draven was not The Crow...he was Eric Draven, brought back for vengeance by The Crow. So there is no problem with rebooting The Crow as long as it was not Eric or Ash or...well, the others doesn't matter ;) The trailer looks amazing and I'm sure its going to be good, but Skarsgård deserves his own character (he is that good) and Brandon deserves his legacy. Will watch with an open mind, my heart belongs to the original. Now get off my lawn!

The Original was my first love when I was old enough to understand the themes, about 13? That love appreciated with growing up and broadening all the horizons, the acting, sets, mood, direction and absolutely AWESOME cinematography makes me eager to rewatch it over and over, a truly stupendous movie up there in the greats of all time. Brandon Lee embodied that character, his ability to portray grief and desperateness was awe inspiring. I'll watch it, as I watched all the...uh...'sequels', but I'll go in biting my tongue. One thing I'll give the entire franchise is the music, so good.

The first time i came this early my girlfriend gave me a disappointed look, i am NOT looking forward to this, ir is unnecessary and looks like a completely different vibe to the one that made the original so iconic.

The Crow is in my Top 5 favorite movies. I still have my old Kitchen Sink Press graphic novel. This movie was VERY important to angry, teenaged Chop. It is a sacred cow to me ... THAT BEING SAID ... After 30 years, three questionable sequels, a surprisingly good TV show, and some really BAD videogames, this was needed. Bill looks GREAT!! And after meeting James O'Barr at Comicpalooza back in 2014 and seeing how genuinely excited he was for this, I am all in. FIRE IT UP!! FIRE IT UP!!

You reflected my thoughts exactly. I was like "No. You can't remake The Crow. Please leave it be"..... "Wait, Bill Skaarsgaard? I'll watch the trailer".... "Ok, I'm intrigued". An Ernie Hudson cameo would set it OFF 😁😁

Duuude... I feel the intrigue, well, morbid curiosity at best. I'm in my mid 40's and The Crow Is an all-time favorite, fell in love with it on first release, only grown more fond of it over the years. The sequals, City of Angels and Salvation... passable. Wicked prayer, we don't speak about, EVER!!! Thiuroughly enjoyed the series with Mark Dacascos, in my opinion, the spiritual successor to the original. This one, my curiosity will win over... eventually. I'll wait till I can grab it for a tenner or less in a second-hand shop or a supermarket.

Considering there were several versions of the graphic novel, different people and different time periods; if one doesn't try to compare this with the original then they might be pleasantly surprised by this one. The trailer looks intriguing. Besides of the ones that came before it, only The Crow: City of Angels was a direct storyline sequel to the first one; with the character of Sarah being grow up and living in Los Angeles. The other two that came after were completely separate stories, and were simply expanding on the crow mythos. Just like the series of graphic novels.

I would like to suggest a movie! It's called "The Covenant" and it's pretty old, but I think it's fun. It's about teenage MALE witches! Lots of eye candy (especially for the ladies) and honestly a FANTASTIC soundtrack, that really moves the film.

I like the Lee version but I know there's different iterations of The Crow. Is this one even Eric? I'm a little worried about casting and chemistry but if it keeps the themes of love and grief, I'll be satisfied. I'll still give it a shot though

Although Bill Skarsgård is an excellent actor and im totally in love with his brother Alexander skarsgård no one could ever replace Brandon Lee in my opinion. Replacing Brandon Lee is like replacing Johnny Depp in the Pirates movies.

Until they do a true adaption of O'Barrs original book, i think of all these as just sequels and stuff. The original was pretty good but might now translate to film well. They gotta make moneys. Lmao!

Shelly’s death was worse in the first film. She was sexually assaulted viscously infront of Eric before he was killed. Then she struggled to live for what? 12 hours or something. 😢 Them getting suffocated pales in comparison.

🤔🤨I know I am biased as a huge fan of the original and Brandon Lee but still, I am not seeing anything here that warranted a "remake". There were several poor sequels of the original, this could have been a decent one or another chapter in the story but a remake? I like Bill Skarsgård and think he was the right choice, the redesign is questionable and I think it's a disservice to both the original and Brandon Lee IMHO. I'd be far more impressed by this if it was another story in the Crow Universe with a different main character, this is not Eric Draven to me and never will be. I'll probably watch at least once even though once again they've shown way too much in this trailer but I suspect I will return to the original many more times before rewatching this version if ever.

Nope. Just nope. Nopenopenopenopenope. I'm going to hold back, though I could go on for hours. They could have EASILY used another Crow character name. There's a bunch. Why not do "The Crow: Flesh and Blood?" A female Crow would be fascinating! Heck, they could have just called him "Eric" like in the graphic novel. They didn't need to name him Eric Draven. That's stomping all over Brandon's legacy. James O'Barr said "Brandon Lee will ALWAYS be Eric Draven." So much for that. AND they're releasing it on the 30 year anniversary of the original's release. They could have rereleased the original, waited a year, and then released the new one. Okay, I'm going to rein myself in, and leave one last comment. That opening, at the end, with the blood spreading? They TOTALLY ripped that off from "Supernatural."

Brandon's legacy is not the crow film. Thinking his legacy is tied to a bunch of films, nevertheless the film that got him killed, is insulting to him and his family. Brandon was a son, a brother, and a friend. Thats his legacy. He was more than an actor. More than a movie. Same with his father.
@DravenGal
@DravenGal 5 ай бұрын
@@adamzez I disagree, although saying The Crow is his ONLY legacy is incorrect. For those of us who didn't know him personally, The Crow IS his legacy. But you're right, there is much more to his legacy than that. The Crow, Rapid Fire, Showdown in Little Tokyo etc...those are part of the mark he left on this world.
@adamzez
@adamzez 4 ай бұрын
@@DravenGal The Crow nor the films he was in are NOT his legacy. Im Asbolutely blown away by people constantly insulting him like this. It was movies he cared about for sure. But you just said that im right, and that his legacy are ALL his movies, when i specifically disagreed with that. His legacy TO YOU is all his movies? So everyone gets an unlimited amount of legacys depending on the person talking about it, defeating the purpose. If anything, the CROW is O Barrs legacy. He wrote it for his wife and to help him deal with his loss of her. I have never talked to anyone on earth, who is asked what they want to be remembered by (their legacy) and replied "The movies that i was in." NO! Its how they affected people and helped them along the way
@DravenGal
@DravenGal 4 ай бұрын
@@adamzez I think perhaps your definition of "legacy" is different than mine. He made a mark on this world. It is demonstrated in his movies, to people who didn't have the luck to know him personally. His movies affected lives, impacted people. Yes, I consider that a legacy. I'm sorry you don't agree, but I also respect that. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
@DravenGal
@DravenGal 4 ай бұрын
@@adamzez i don't know where you're getting your definition of "legacy." The dictionary definition is: "the long-lasting impact of particular events, actions, etc. that took place in the past, or of a person’s life. "he left us a rich legacy of buildings that are both innovative architectural creations and genuine works of art" A legacy is something someone leaves behind that other people remember them for. So yes, movies can absolutely be a legacy. They can change lives. A legacy can be a quote, a dance, an action, and in Bruce Lee's case, a form of martial arts or any number of other things or even a collection of them. And obviously you haven't talked to many actors, because I don't think a single one would complain that they were remembered by the movies they were in, unless it was a negative reaction to them. And if they did something like giving to important causes, that would be a legacy as well. So yes, The Crow is a legacy. If you disagree, that's fine. I'm not going to quibble over this anymore.
