I find that their shooting around on the boards in their own end and trying to short pass it out gets them into trouble lots of times.

I don’t recall a successful Stanley Cup champion making so many changes. We should be building on success of regular season.

I'm a fan of cult of hockey, but im not a fan of Oilers / Panthers. It's still magical to see McDavid finally playing in the finals. He seems mature and takes nothing for granted.

David, I disagree that Kulak and Nurse worked. Kulak looked like a fish out of water on his wrong side and it cost a goal almost immediately. Kulak calmed down afterwards and looked better but not as good as when he was on the left side. There were several times that I noticed he and Nurse would go after the same guy so Kulak would yield to Nurse which would cause them to be half a step behind. And I think that's part of the problem. Sometimes Nurse takes himself out of the play by going after his defense partner's man. Look at Dallas' goal in game 5, Darnel was playing left D, but he went into the right corner after a guy, so Kulak had to switch sides. The second goal in game 4 against Dallas, he chased a guy into the right corner to push the guy (even though he was no threat to screen Skinner) and the shot went off his ass and in. I think they went back to Nurse and Ceci in game 1 because there was lots of familiarity between the 2 and there would be less confusion. But, as the numbers show, Nurse is a negative machine...and I'm saying that as a guy who's been pulling for him his entire career. Ceci was taken out because they can't take out Nurse. He's their $9M defender, with an A on his jersey, who just had the entire roster stick up for him. Taking out Nurse would just look really bad. I think taking out both of his partners is a way to send him a message. Hopefully message will be received.

David your article noting the 5v5 GF% for Oiler d-men was telling. Why is it Ceci coming out, when Nurse's numbers are what they are? Another angle on those horrific numbers: Nurse has an atrocious goals-against on a per minute basis, allowing one goal for every 13 minutes of his 5v5 ice time (26 GA in 334 even strength minutes). I try to support all Oilers. Nurse has a ton of physical ability. But these numbers and the highly visible, costly mistakes are undeniably dreadful.

Skinner needs to realize that the game starts when the anthems are done.... If Vinny plays soft, I don't want to see him in again.

I don't like how Knoblauch keeps test driving the Keystone Cops rather than using the Usual Productive Suspects. The Keystone Cops. Foegele, McLeod, Perry, Kane, Nurse, CeCi. The Usual Productive Suspects Carrick, D. Ryan, Vin D. Actually CeCi's far far better when you keep Nurse as far away from him as possible. Ceci scored some very important timely goals...Nurse has done nothing. I wish someone in this organization had the balls to bench Nurse and let him see how the game is played from the press box. Nurse desperately needs an educational perspective from the press box.

Nurse problem is mental- has occurred every playoffs..... someone has to review the basics with him; no stupid penalties, stick on ice, no puck watching... pressure the puck & know where the highest danger opponent is, safe plays vs hi risk turnovers etc

yes Perry caused that 2nd FLA goal in game ... but all 4 others did as well. GM has done a poor job of getting finishers & support players that actually have impact: Perry, McLeod, Foegele, Kane Janmark,Carrick, Ryan & are fine but most not in the line-up. Gagne, Erne... Team did very well in Game1 & c/should have WON... RNH is always a bit questionable ss a scorer.. Team has done great - but GM has left them w some weak links.

To my eye, Ceci was especially bad last game with not a lot of positives.

Instead of changing Nurse into a forward maybe try trading him for Mariner.

McLeod and Foegle have been major disappointments this post season. More so than anyone else imo. Dont get me started about our 9.25m defenseman. I’m not even disappointed anymore cause it’s what I expect.

Perry needs far better linemates than McLeod to do anything at all at this stage. He needs guys to carry play so he can fart around down low. McLeod is too weak/soft to play a down low dirt game to benefit any of Perry's remaining tools. 100% he's slow but the Oilers have almost no players on their roster that synergizes with Perry. Nurse is just low hockey IQ and takes way too many high risk decisions.

Nurse is 9 years vétérans making the same mistake again and again . Getting worse every year . I will never understand why holland give him that contract overpaid by 5.5 millions

It's tough to point a finger at Nurse, we all see what we see, but let's move on with the changes and see what we get. We'll worry about Nurse in the off season, they won't change it now. How do you bench a 9 million dollar a year player?
