It’s because The Cure’s music is so damn good. The Cure may be the most original, creative, and innovative artists I’ve ever listened to. Btw, I’ve listened to lots of great music over many moons too. They are absolutely unique and wonderful. ❤

One of The Cure's grungiest songs! Did Robert (+band) depart from this sound due to 'grunge' getting so big in America? I really like this song, but I'm glad Wish doesn't sound like this. Yet another shining facet on the jewel that is The Cure's music.

I've been CURE since 80s and I never had cable tv nor saw video til right now! It's great cinema as well as Jimi on gtr!!! I had a CURE comic book. Too bad my parents threw it all away...that was really cool! I still have my 2nd copy of songwords. (It's a book I bought off burning airplanes....anyone remember that?!.)

CHORDS (as per ultimate guitar): A G E x2, A G Em, C D Em - easy enough for me, no nasty barre chords! I'm grateful for that cos its good fun to strum along to and at that stage in their career they were musically capable of making it much more over complicated. That said it doesn't sound simple! I love it! I woke up and was thinking about the sad, sorry state of my life and how i keep trying to change it and the phrase "whatever i do it's never enough" popped into my head and it took my over 50yo brain a moment to remember whose lyrics it was! But i did! And without turning to Google! So then i had to look the chords up and play it. V glad i did - it cheered me up so thanks Robert et al 😊

@eboethrasher Жыл бұрын
@@baldemamadou2 You know that there are plenty of musicians making actual rock music, using real instruments, etc. and hello, New Order, Depeche Mode, all making futuristic synth based music in the 80s. Your arguments fall flat on their face, because we also had shitty people like Whitney Houston and others singing ballads, just like Adele does today. The main thing that has changed is the dominance of hip-hop-rap-trap-crap that literally is almost all the same drum beat at different tempos.

80s were good. I'd say MTV killed real music. Everything became sterilized and programmed. Radio and the music industry weren't interested in real music when they can write songs, put an image to them and market it. This song was released 1990. I love The Cure, especially this song! I was 15 at the time, and it has always been one of my favourites of theirs!

< "Never Enough" is about never feeling satisfied with anything I do. There's elements of the reactions you get to success too. That's what it's like sometimes, like being stuck at the end of a pier in a freak show. It's an excellent video. It was also a play on how we could end up. I've seen other groups just acting out things on a small stage in front of a bunch of other freaks. I wear a ball and chain, and when I fall towards the water, the thing that's holding me has saved me to put me through more years of hell." >
