I will agree that the only way I have a truck is to have it wrapped. It’s not cheap either. I think Tesla should do themselves a favor and build the wrap into the sale price of the car, because they are admittedly impractical without it in most climates.

No vehicle is immune to damage off road. You can watch someone stick their actual hand in the frunk as it closes on youtube, it doesn't cut your fingers off and there are plenty of cars out there with more dangerous doors. A familiar hollow robotaxi lie that he "really believes should be up & running by August", as if. For Elon, it is only about the money. Everything else is secondary to his wealth & ego. Just as you've uploaded this report, we get this: "Elon Musk emailed executives tonight to say two of his most senior executives - Rebecca Tinucci, head of the Supercharger network; and Daniel Ho, head of new vehicles - will be leaving the company, and their teams dissolved." So the people responsible for the Supercharger network (arguably the most important advantage Tesla has over other EV makers) and new vehicles (who would execute on the M2) have been fired. Great, just great.

Yeah that's just one facet of what I've been trying to tell people if you work as I have been 30 plus years quote unquote Legacy Auto you know how this goes when the executive start quitting when the head person wants a parachute to get their money out sales or stock off of Bush and run in with a product kind of bombs the cyber truck for the most part but you know maybe it'll turn into high volume I don't know seems like a real problem and pretty low quality execution but stock price going down EV car sales are coming down Tesla here's the joke doesn't have another powertrain type like ice to sell when electric cars have a bad marketing issue and you can say all you want to about fuzz in the market and why people are stupid and they want mileage and it's better and all that and there's lots of ways that it is but you can't beat up people and take their money from them and make them buy the car if that's robbery so you have to convince them and apparently people are becoming less and less convinced it's the only type of carbon Tesla sales so therefore you lower the prices when an OEM Legacy maker offers rebate money on the hood then they call that a failure and rebate and it sucks but when he loves is all or efficient we lower the price it's the same thing it's just done in a different manner and it looks better and he's a PT Barnum of spinning words like his latest one was we're just going to make the model to progression changes going to the Model 3 in the y will do it on the same line that we already do that's called we're not going to tool up the expensive line to do the completely new process and the new car what we're going to do is try to cram in the best of what we can get out of it into the existing car and not have the tool up a whole new line They got short shifts their low production utilization in Texas these are all the hallmarks of a company that is likely to fail and close in a couple years but everybody's looking I'm sorry so many people are looking at it like oh they're doing so wonderful they were doing wonderful it's on a downslide color it anyway you want to other people can it's on the down slide just like the rest of the auto industry just a lot of denial out there

As a long time truck owner and buyer, the Cybertruck holds no interest for me. It basically fails miserably at doing the things trucks are good at. @misterthegeoff9767
@misterthegeoff9767 Ай бұрын
I drive a small panel van which is what Europeans buy instead of full size pickups. the bed will take sheets of 8x4, which I feel is the minimum a truck bed should be capable of, and the load height is nice and low to make loading and unloading easy. It amazes me how many modern full size pickups seem to fail one or both of those criteria in favour of having an engine 3 times the size of mine, a ride height so high you need a ladder to access the load space and the kind of visibility normally associated with a panzer 4. It must suck to be in the USA and need a work vehicle and have nothing on the market focused around just loading up and hauling stuff easily and economically.

I personally take Tesla’s stock price changing with a grain of salt. They have been overvalued like a tech stock for years and finally experiencing their overdue correction as the hype fades. All of the issues discussed here can be resolved given a few years of production experience except for shipping half baked products. My biggest concern is the worrying trend of companies selling and shipping incomplete products with the promise that they will eventually be fixed. Buy the product that ships and be pleasantly surprised when features are added beyond that.
@barrag3463
@barrag3463 Ай бұрын
An issue I'd point out is that production only gets better over time if you actually hunker down and focus on producing a few models long term. Tesla as a company spends too much time and focus on incremental iteration of their existing designs and experiments like the cybertruck to really do that; it's why you're only really starting to see Teslas on the roads in numbers in the last couple years even though they've been selling cars for way longer, and why their models still cost way more that most other autos (even other EVs). The fact that they're now going to try another experiment with robotaxis makes me think they still haven't learned this lesson, and I wonder if the "gigafactories" aren't a statement to the inefficiency of their current production model.

Planes are fly-by-wire these days, Airbus planes are all fly-by-wire, for example. @lsswappedcessna Ай бұрын
@@bobbokil3147 There's a huge difference between an aircraft and a car. Aircraft are extremely expensive and have exceedingly high operating costs, and also require mandatory maintenance checks to ensure everything is operating within spec. Cars should _not_ be extremely expensive, should _not_ have exceedingly high operating costs, and _do not_ require mandatory maintenance checks as in depth as aircraft, car inspections (in places that have them, many don't) are just emissions and "ok your frame isn't rusted apart, the brakes work, and your check engine light isn't on." While yes, DBW can be done with no issues and it is in a limited fashion on most cars today (throttle by wire), is there really a reason to do it in a production car for steering? The mechanical solution is likely still cheaper and less susceptible to random, potentially disastrous malfunction not caused by lack of maintenance or negligence on the part of the operator (see the 737 MAX). More mechanics, both third party and dealer employed, will understand how to service and repair a traditional steering system, and 4 wheel steering to help these grotesquely oversized modern trucks maneuver is very much possible with mechanical steering, as the Honda Prelude and GM Quadrasteer has proven. This isn't advancement, it's computerization for the sake of computerization.

The temporary fix that they were doing at Tesla sites has also been a debacle there are pictures of rivets in petals that aren't in enough of the cover to actually ensure it stays there. Most people who follow car information are hesitant to buy a car in the year one model. The cyber truck looks like it is in an alpha state. This thing isn't even to production standards of any other major car company. Big fan of RCR, great video, lots of interesting points. Thank you. I'm a former Tesla Model S owner, I loved the car but traded it in after three years when it dawned on me how bad a prospect it would be to continue owning something so extraordinarily depreciable with a drivetrain that may very well be obsolete once solid state battery and fuel cell vehicles, etc., become prevalent. I do want to respectfully push back on some of your points. First, the vast majority of Tesla recalls basically amount to fixing inconvenient software glitches, and they're fixed via over-the-air updates. It's something that looks worse on paper than it actually is. The sales figures are going to ultimately determine whether the CyberTruck was a good or bad idea, otherwise I do think Tesla deserves credit for trying something different that people undoubtedly find interesting. The question I would also ask is: why does the Ford F-150 Lightning exist? It looks basically like its non-electric variants, yet it can't tow what they do farther than 90 miles before battery depletion. Why question the necessity of Tesla's funky-looking truck while totally disregarding what at present appears to be a total failure in the mundane-looking Ford equivalent? Anyway, thanks for the video, your crew is awesome.

Currently, the charging net work is growing but certainly it’s understandable that it’s not large enough yet for some people who live further outside large cities or away from interstates. For someone such as myself who lives in a city suburb, it is the perfect vehicle. Very inexpensive to operate. While there have been a handful of people who have had expensive battery replacements, they are few and far between not a regular occurrence. Also, the battery unit itself has a very robust warranty. I am 60 years old and I’ve owned many vehicles, including sports/race cars on down to economy, buckets, and everything in between. There has not been a less expensive car to operate than my model Y over the last four years. After all with regard to maintenance, there’s nothing less than zero dollars.

@@bobbokil3147 Right, its great for YOU. I live 15 miles east of Seattle, Teslas are the car of choice for thousands of folks here. But I'm talking nationally, because there are only so many people who can afford a Tesla and have it make sense in their lives. Car sales depend on VOLUME, and EVs are not going to be the choice for a huge percentage of potential buyers in the US

@@adamschaeffer3614 Right? Us Australian apartment owners also cannot go EV as it's a right royal pain in the arse to get charging infrastructure into our complexes due to our strata laws, so we'll have to rely on the really thin and patchy DCFC network to charge our EVs if we did end up buying them. Frequent DCFC of a car absolutely cooks batteries, so much so that there's a good chance you'll kill the battery just outside of the warranty period. Then you'll have to shell out the cost of an entire Kia Picanto to replace the battery pack. Tesla is a distraction imo. America (and Australia also, as we're just as if not more car dependent than the US) needs reliable, safe and secure public transit and it needs it yesterday. It also needs to build apartments that don't suck or that aren't luxury items (if you want more than two bedrooms here, expect to pay the cost of a large mansion here for one) In fact pretty much all of Elon's projects have been thorns in the side of investment into public infrastrucutre. Elon used Hyperloop as a way to sidestep funding away from California HS2, and it failed miserably. The Vegas Loop was designed to stop Las Vegas from building a competent spur line subway to the convention centre. Tesla is a way for wealthy car owners to continue their car-brained lifestyles and feel less bad about punching baby seals in the face. The quicker we get the idea out of our heads that cars are good at transporting people, the better. Motorcycles, E-bikes and Public transit are way, way better for individuals than a 7,000lb behemoth of a truck with barely any capability or practicality going for it. Leave the trucks to actual people who need trucks. Make them smaller, more practical and more fuel efficient. Idk, Make 'em Kei Trucks like they do in Japan. There's a reason why they're in such high demand as work vehicles. As I've said in other threads, the reason why I will be buying a Miata as my next car, is because I believe that cars should be relegated to the same thing as what the Horse is these days, something you use for fun and recreational purposes.

The fact of the matter is this: Elon hates the common person. Every decision he makes or movement he throws his weight behind is partly out of disdain for us and his regard for us as purely a revenue/subscription crop. Once you look through that lens, it makes more sense.

Doesn't call out BWM already locking out features behind pay wall VS Tesla not having a feature yet 3. As a truck, why does it have the suspension of a car and not a proper heavy duty truck? Why can't it tow? Why does the range fall to the floor when it does tow? Why is the bed so small and the body so big? The CT sucks at being a truck and it sucks at being a car. A kei truck is more practical than this sack of bolts.

@@lasskinn474 I was referring to recalls specifically and other issues with new vehicles. For Teslas in general, there certainly have been a number of problems with things like panel alignment in early models until they got things figured out like they have on the three and the Y. As far as serious recall items that require the car to come to the dealership those have been very few and far between on Tesla‘s. The vast majority of the recalls have been over the air software updates. Certainly the main stream media would not lead you to believe this is true. However, you can check me on this if you do not believe. Tesla is better with regard to the number of recall issues when compared to the big three auto makers, and even more so against the other EV makers. as far as the rest of your complaints, the vast majority of those are opinion, and you are welcome to yours. Factually speaking, the model Y that I have owned for four years while not an inexpensive car to purchase has been by far the least expensive car to own and drive. After four years, the maintenance cost of the car other than tire replacement has been zero dollars. Charging the car at home to full from empty usually cost me somewhere around $16.
