Three rifles, wooden stocks with open sights, my day is made.

My CZ's are the jewels of my collection for certain. The observation that gives me concern regarding the CZ600 is the apparent short sight radius of the iron sights. I presume that CZ did that so that a scope could be mounted nice and low along the barrel without interfering with the rear sight, but there are those of us that actually like shooting with iron sights, and a scope isn't always a requirement.

I love my cz550 in 270! No plastic! Solid and reliable.

I guess CZ is selling tons of pistols because I don’t understand stopping production of the 550, 527, & even the excellent push feed 557. I’m just a common laborer though so what do I know? Great Video as always USOG

I love the looks and feel of the lux version. The alpha feels like a solid firearm as well even with plastic stock.

Mike, there’s no one blogging about guns today that has your perspective and appreciation for these beautiful firearms. A while ago, I was at a very busy public range, and there was not a wood stocked gun to be seen. For me this was kind of sad. Maybe all those shooters felt sorry for me because all I had was a CZ550f and Steyr SL! I have nothing against ARs, but comparatively, they lack the beauty and sex appeal of these European wood stocked creations! Thanks for all you do for we folks that love traditional firearms, modern and old!

Have many CZ firearms. It's amazing how CZ can pack in the quality and features at these price points. I haven't held a CZ 600 yet, but it looks to be the best value rifle on the market today - 3 lug bolt, no plastic, iron sights, threaded muzzle.

I was heartbroken when they discontinued the 550 safari line. Have one in 375H&H and it's one of my favorite rifles. Beautiful rifles!

I have only good things to say about CZ rifles I bought my first about 15 yrs ago a bolt action in 7,62*39 since then I've bought several more, They look great accurate enough for hunting price is decent I think the most I've paid was $650 but that was a 270 with a Leopold 4-12*50 scope it shoots 1&1/2" groups at 200 yards with hand loads but even with factory ammo you can get 2" groups at 200 yards, and for a old deer rifle like a sore Peter can't beat it

I regret selling my ZKK601 in .308 to this day. Had it from new with both triggers that it came with, used it in the configuration you have shown, such a joy. I never had an issue with scope mounting on it but then i used low power scope 2-7, it spent 99.9% of its life on 2. It never let me down in any way.

I know what you mean when you struggle to describe the feeling of such high quality steel. I have a Husqvarna model 1900 that I fail to find the words to describe how it feels in the hand, and the floating on air smoothness of the action. It’s a tough thing to put into words for sure, and even more difficult to find in the modern world. Another lovely videos sir. Thank you.

Great video, Mike! I like all three, but I love the 555. Maybe because it's a 30-06..... All three are very well made and smooth. I Love the walnut on the 601! Glad to see you out and about, and putting those rifles thru their paces!

I like the old ones better simply because of the proper bluing and checkering.

I got introduced to the 600 by this video and ended up buying one in 30-06 a few months later. Truly an awesome gun.

CZ used to manufacture controlled feed mauser 98 style bolt action rifles with no plastic parts. Some of them chambered in big bore cartridges such as the .416 rigby at a price level not found currently. Sadly they don't produce them anymore.

I bought a 527 rifle in 7.62x39 a couple of years ago and I'm glad I did because they recently discontinued that model. I didn't even know it had the set trigger until i was cleaning it one day! Stunning rifles, and such a variety of calibers

I have a few CZ's. My favorite is a CZ550 FS in 6.5X55 that I actually bought at Reliable Gun so it was a nice surprise to hear you mention that store. Especially in regards to CZ products. I also have a 527 in 7.62X39 that's a real beaut. I'm also a big fan of their rimfires. 452, 455 and 457's. I really wish they had not discontinued production of their 550's though. Those actions are fantastic but I guess they got too costly to produce. I'm not impressed with the 600's. I like what they've done with the 457 actions. But I think the stippling they do now on the stocks is unattractive and feels terrible. I hope they start producing 550's with the controlled round feed again. I don't think I'll ever be interested in buying a 600. Thank you for another great video. How about a video about the 9.3X62 cartridge?

Beautiful rifles. A have a few CZ rifles (455, 527, 557), had a few issues with the 527 but otherwise fine. I have mixed feelings about the 600. It was meant to be a swap-barrel but CZ realised that the rifle could still shoot with the barrel incorrectly inserted so in the end they made a recall and now the CZ600 are fixed barrel. Pity - it was a lost opportunity. Thank you for your time and showing us all these nice rifles, Sir!

I have the CZ 600 with 24" Bull Barrel and in .308. AWESOME RIFLE! CZ makes EXCELLENT Rifles and handguns I also own a CZ P07 for my EDC...AWESOME!

When CZ first brought out the 600 it's claim to fame was that you could swap barrels and bolt heads to change calibers and configuration. That lasted just a very short time before they recalled all of them and removed the changeability. I still think they should have invested in keeping the 550 alive while offering an alternative. The "great new" 557 replacement lasted maybe 2 or 3 years.

Thanks for bringing us another great video Mike. That 600 is a nice rifle, and seems to shoot very well even with the short sight radius. I would prefer a little more finish on the stock, the pure satin doesn't appeal to me on any gun. My favorite is the BRNO looks wise. It seems old school like me and apparently is a fine shooter also. Enjoy!

Thank you very much for the review i have only just watched it, a bit late but i did enjoy it . I have a CZ 601 in .308 and have used it as my main hunting rifle for over 25 years, shoots straight and is very reliable. I have several other brands of rifle in different calibers but when i recently needed a new small caliber rifle i purchased a CZ 452 in .22 which i use shooting rabbits here in Australia and i find it great to use always accurate just like the 601. Thanks again for the review.

Thanks for the opportunity to "Czech" out those fine rifles. I looked at one of those 600's and was a bit disappointed myself. I'm sure it shoots well and all but I thought the quality was off with the stock wood and the finishing of the metal. I guess that is part of the modernization effort of converting a classic rifle to a contemporary one. If that rifle had the same feel as the Zephyr .22 Lux, I would have bought it but I was just pot off by the matte metal and figureless wood. Price-wise, it's a lot of rifle but just wasn't my cup of České pivo.

Sad the 550 and 500 series went out of production, hope they bring them back in new version.

One of my major mistakes in life was when I waited too long to pick up a second hand CZ 527 in 222 and with Stutzen stock…for 400€. Next biggest mistake - at the same shop!!! - was that I waited 1 day to pick up HOWA 1500 laminated in 308 for 600€. 3rd biggest mishap is when I was offered a Parker Hale in 308 for 250€ and replied “I call you back”. So stupid… My gun safes are screaming in the back: “come on in!”

Had a 557 with that same stock and comb. The bolt has very little clearance over top which tells you right away it’s designed for a scope. The cheek weld is higher and so the eye is positioned higher above the barrel to better line up with the exit pupil from the scope. Very nice rifles. I may spring for a CZ 600 but I have a Tikka LSA-55 that I’m refurbishing first. I’m a serial rifle owner, rather than a parallel gun owner 😂 But jealous nonetheless🙈

Always miss your videos when you have been busy .far and away I agree with you .I like the Mauser best.for many old school and practical reasons. The biggest being the 601 had the longest sight radius by far.that 600 s rearsight was so far forward I doubt you could shoot it passed 150yds and the 8x57 is capable of much more than that.that rifle was very beautiful just set up for a huge scope which is not right for the old Mauser either Great work again and I'm sorry to be so fussy.but I love opensighted practical rifles

CZ is currently recalling the 600 Lux for some unknown reason.

Hey it's me again Mike. Another fine video about well made rifles. The plainer 601 would be my choice. Push feed actions just aren't my first choice even though I've had a couple of them just to get the caliber/cartridge I wanted. Remington 721 BDL DELUXE 300 H&H. Still have it. Remington 700 ADL Varmint 22-250. Only shot it 3 times. Stayed in the safe several years then over night it magically changed itself into a Savage 99F 308 Winchester. As far as other CZ's I covet a 550 in 9.3x62. Also a 457 or 457 Lux. I really like the ones you can have two barrels for. Preferably 22 WMR and 17HMR. I already have a Ruger 77/22LR but would gladly take the 457 22LR. Happy hunting boys and girls!😄

Just seen a bunch of the CZ 600 at the Tigard Oregon Cabela's store in 223 - 270 win / 30-06. I thought the guns are magnificent in build and amazing fit when shouldering one. If I was still into bolt guns, I would want one on 9.3x62 Mauser and the 8 mm x 57 Mauser. I own for many years a CZ 550 in 9.3x62 Mauser I used in Alaska to the Pacific NW which I can say by experience the 9.3x62 Mauser is brown bear and Yukon moose killer !

Ruger 77 were my go to for years. When there prices went up nope cz all the way. The ruger was good up 700$ after that the cz better and for now cheaper.

Sooooo reminiscent of the 527 soviet carbine!!! But 8mm nice!!! 30'06 even nicer!!! It's one of my bucket list hunters.

Set trligger is made for mountain hunting. That s why it is so ,so light but you can use it without it.

Love it. Would prefer in in 7x57mm Mauser. Great cartridge. Better still 7mm-08 or .308. Easier to find.

you forgot the 602's. the BRNO ZKK came as 601 short actions, 600 long actions and 602 magnum length actions. They use the same quick detach rings as the CZ550. The one your holding has a set trigger and they originally came with a set trigger and a conventional trigger as well as a little tool kit to change it. The trigger is user adjustable via a screw in the bolt race way above the trigger. Some models had a beautiful little pop up peep sight in the top of the receiver which was deployed by pushing a button on the side of the action, very slick! Yours is the european monte carlo stocked version and there was a straight comb english stocked version. The white line spacer on the forened tip is just cut in and the tip dyed, these can cause accuracy issues over time I believe. They are also pillar bedded. The only complaint is the arse about safety. I have a ZKK 601 and I had a model 70 style safety fitted solving that problem. A truly beautiful rifle it is, far preferable to any of the modern stuff in my eyes!

Wow that sight radius is short! I have not seen this model but have handled the 600 Alpha in .223. Which although it has a 1:7 twist has a very short OAL capacity in the mag, just enough for 55gr.....

As a fan of cz I'm not impressed. Too much plastic and the barrel swap feature is no longer supported by the manufacturer. So much wasted money on the bolt head and barrel system that could have been spent on an all metal rifle like the rest of my cz rifles are.

shooting with iron sights is fun. Up to 150 meters or so, my eyes age at the same rate the rest of me does...

Another great video! I am considering this as my next rifle .308 or .300. I was told that the cz 600 is a modified control round feed rifle that is only a 60 degree bolt throw. Is this true? The older cz were control round feed with typical 90 degree bolt throw.

If CZ had a controlled feed rifle, I would have bought it. Wanted to buy a CZ527, but it was no longer available when I got my gun license. Now can only look for them on used websites.

I was looking at a CZ 600 but there is a recall here in the USA over the barrels. So not sure when you are going to be able to get them again here. I have a CZ 527 and it shoots dead straight until about 3 rounds and when the barrel starts to heat up a little the shot group rapidly expands to 4 inches or so.

Awhile back I tried to find a CZ in m43, but I couldn't even find one
