Lyrics
We'll meet again,
Don't know where, don't know when,
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day.
Keep smiling through,
Just like you always do,
'Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away.So will you please say hello
To the folks that I know,
Tell them I won't be long.
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go,
I was singing this song
We'll meet again,
Don't know where,
Don't know when,
But I know we'll meet again,
Some sunny day.We'll meet again,
Don't know where, don't know when,
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day.
Keep smiling through,
Just like you always do,
'Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away.
So will you please say hello
To the folks that I know,
Tell them I won't be long.
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go,
I was singing this song.
We'll meet again,
Don't know where, don't know when,
But I know we'll meet again,
Some sunny day.

I just showed this video to my 97 year old neighbour, who was in the Canadian Navy during the war. Of course she remembered it. She started singing along, and tears came into her old eyes. She was 19 in 1943, fell in love with a sailor, and this was their song. It was very touching to watch her remember.

My great grandfather on my mother's side was a Canadian soldier during WW2. Served in the 7th infantry division from 1942 to 1945, stormed Juno Beach, was shot three times on that beach, barely survived and rejoined his unit once he was strong enough to pick up his rifle. He fought until the war ended and when he came home, the first thing he did was dance with my great grandmother to this song. I remember him asking to have this song play while he laid on his deathbed. This song makes me both sad and happy. Sad because it is a beautiful and powerful song, but it reminds me of a truly great man that I wish I knew better. But, it makes me happy because I know why he wanted to have it play when he passed. He wanted it to play, because he wanted to remember and relive the moments he had with his wife and with the men he served with. Thank you Great Grandpa for fighting so I could be who I am today. Rest In Peace.

This song reminds me of one of the finest gentleman I've ever met. He was one of the RAF pilots on D-day flying over Normandy and was supporting the American troops landing on the beaches. Some of his stories were horrific, romantic and truly British, used to tear up when he was talking about the friends he lost, as much as I slightly hesitated, he insisted. Sadly he has passed away now, but plane his friend flew was on display at Duxford for some time.

Vera Lynn was great 👍 really helped us feel better in UK during WWII. My parents went through the war in London. I was born there in 1944 and we came to the US in 1949 on the Queen Mary. Now 79 years old. My wife turned 80 yesterday. I am a veteran of the USAF, 1969-1973.

Nice to relate to your comments Alessandria, I was a kid of 5 or 6, when we had Italian POW's living in a Prison camp adjacent to the Junior school I attended, (Ferncliffe Camp Calverley Woods, West Yorkshire. we kids loved the songs and music they would play on Accordions mainly, many occasions, the British Army guys who guearded them, would permit our entry where we would talk and play games, we didn't know what war was about at that age, but I shall always remember that most of those Italian'Prisoners ' actually stayed in England after the war and many opened interesting food shops.
