The Dø - das sind Komponist und Multiinstrumentalist Dan Levy und Sängerin Olivia Merilahtia. Seit 2007 sind die Franzosen unter diesem Namen in Sachen experimentellem Indiepop unterwegs. Entstanden ist die durchaus fruchtbare Verbindung durch die gemeinsame Arbeit am Score zur Grangé-Verfilmung „Das Imperium der Wölfe“. „Despair, Hangover & Ecstasy“ ist nun ein Ausblick auf das am 24.Oktober erscheinende dritte Studioalbum „Shake, Shook, Shaken“ und ein elektronisches Popmeisterwerk voller Lebhaftigkeit und Grenzgängertum. Popmusik muss nicht langweilig sein, dafür sind The Dø das beste Beispiel. „Despair, Hangover & Ecstasy“ ist auf erfrischende Art unberechenbar, überrascht mit außergewöhnlichen Wendungen und schafft trotzdem eine Eingängigkeit, die jeder ermüdenden Gefälligkeit entbehrt.

Its lyrics are simply brilliant, its rhythm, the singer movements, his dancing, his voice... Gosh! It's really groovy. I'm here due to Garance Marillier and her movie "Raw", there's a part where she, as a fresh year student, was forced to attend at this party, which was full of psychedelic lights and precocious youngsters. That scene is too way captivating.
