I mean it's a serial killer come on its just for show the victims are already gone by one man & now it's a series to watch but........ should people enjoy watching this because of all the fked up things that happened or didnt happen (hell no) its enjoyable to watch because in one way you gotta grow the hell up & just watch it as a show......secondly it's a better series to watch than the other terrible waste of money shows/movies. Thirdly a bunch of children younger than the victims are getting killed & i don't see any based on a true story about them......

This series has brought up the victims sides more than Dahmer. Yes it had circled around that horrible event but anyone with half of the brain cells can read and understand. In the beginning the it says “based on try horrific events” besides not many of us knew about Glenda Cleveland until this series. So a little props to Ryan Murphy for making it a show where victims and others in that time were given recognition. FYI there’s another documentary coming up on Netflix titled “Jeffrey Dahmer tapes” let’s see how that works out

Well I understand what you mean, but since this is one of the top streamed shows at the moment, it’s pretty difficult not to at least acknowledge that it’s a thing. Of course the victim’s families and friends are going to be curious of how they portrayed their sons/brothers/friends and how the show was written. They have every right to have strong feelings about it, especially since they weren’t even aware of the show’s existence prior to its release. It’s easy for us to simply say don’t watch the show, but I doubt it’s as black and white as that. While netflix is profiting so much off of the case, the families are having to relive that trauma without any compensation.

While no one is making TV shows/biopics/documentaries, Families are championing about awareness/visibility/respect for victims. When they make a biopic/documentary/raise awareness they believe it's shocking and want a cut of the profits. Let's be frank about what is happening. The acting in this series is outstanding. The series itself does not glorify Dahmer or present him as misunderstood or a character you should be sympathetic towards. It explores his childhood and his journey to where he ended up but it leaves you with enough questions about nature or nurture that you have to determine that, the show isn't trying to absolve him in any way. Important to remember some elements are not truthful and are dramatised. I would hope Netflix will donate to charities or to the idea of a memorial for the victims with the profits but the idea that the families are entitled to profit from their relatives deaths is obscene in itself. If Netflix had presented the victims stories in a way that was derogatory to their memory then fine but I don't believe this series was anything but sympathetic. It is difficult and I have every sympathy for the families. No one deserves what happened to those guys.

This is why they don’t let victims’ families choose the sentences for criminals: because they were personally affected, they’re clouded by emotion. Some people say that because it happened to them, their opinion matters most. I disagree. The closer you are to it, the more your judgement is clouded by your emotions. So we let an impartial judge decide the sentence. Likewise, while I feel for the families here, their severe discomfort doesn’t mean we can’t watch or discuss this event. Sorry. They shouldn’t watch. No one is making them. People need to learn to ignore or tough through things they don’t like rather than asking the world to conform to their needs. Society can’t function that way. I like the idea of giving the families some portion of the revenue or doing something else good with it, like maybe finally getting Milwaukee to build that memorial where the apartment complex used to be.

What I’ve seen out of the series so far only chronicles the crimes and interactions, but never put you into the mind of JD, never paints him as a protagonist (not even by mistake). I can’t imagine what the victims families feel, but from an outside standpoint this is just another well-told warning that we need to be cautious of people we don’t really know - that we need to NOT turn our heads the other way when we know something is wrong and someone is in danger. The saddest part of the whole story is it was all avoidable had crucial people just paid attention or spoke up. As for the LBQGT sticker getting taken off the movie, tf?!?! Is this not a movie about a gay serial killer and his gay victims? Is this not a story of the 1980’s pray-your-gay-away culture, and how that fact contributes to him not being caught? It can’t all be rainbows and butterflies - history happens for a reason - so we can learn from it in the present and improve upon it in the future.

Here's the thing: Jeffrey Dahmer was very adamant about being heterosexual. He claimed he chose his victims strictly because they were available and easy. While he was possibly a repressed gay man, we have no way of being sure. It's a lot more nuanced than "a gay serial killer".

These are all small details that don’t have anything to do with the final outcome, the victims or their families. Every docuseries and/or biopics take creative liberties here and there for the sake of storytelling. Nothing will ever be a dramatic real time representation of what exactly happened etc. But this comes damn close.
@bbloomfield6497
@bbloomfield6497 Жыл бұрын
@@mattcollins3591 If a production exists because of real life events, the entire point of it is undermined without being true to those events. Without the understanding of an unreliable narrator premise or disclaimer about "some names, places and events have been changed out of respect" etc. Otherwise the millions of people gulping up the show are learning false history. Would a 9/11 dramatic reenactment, presented as truth be acceptable if they changed history just so it gets more views and clicks? If a story is so incredible it must be retold, telling it intentionally inaccurately is a contradiction.
@AdamIshak01
@AdamIshak01 Жыл бұрын
@@mattcollins3591 I feel like the last two are pretty important both to in show canon and to the real life case. Would Nash’s character have the same intensity if she wasn’t suspicious? She’s part of the reason why the show has so much tension, especially when it’s told from her point of view. The show’s version of Glenda combined two important females from the real case to make her more cinematically dramatic. If they made Nash “more accurate” to the real people, it also reinforces the premise of how the real Dahmer got away with his crimes for so long which is the (and I say this loosely) “allure” to his case-people want to know how he did it; besides homophobia, racism, corruption in power, lack of social media and communication, drawn out procedures, very little people suspected Dahmer so he wasn’t being reported on and the few times people did call police, police didn’t care. Same premise to how stealing is easier when no one is looking and there’s no alarms, but a master thief can outsmart any system in place. That’s what makes it mind bottling. It also shows how skillful Dahmer was “at his craft” because dismembering a body alone, doesn’t matter if you have special equipment or not, is a very noisy and difficult process so for people to not notice that- at least when it came to hiding- means he “was doing something right”: it takes a lot of strength, alot of energy, alot of power, and alot of training to make your muscles resistant to the feeling of actually cutting real muscle and bone. And that’s just the cutting up part. Not to mention how to clean it, how to clean the aftermath, how to get rid of it secretively, how heavy the remains are, how deep a grave has to be dug. It’s definitely a process that will force you to exert energy, have a set stamina, takes time, and it’s not a normal one. Doing all this completely sober in 24 hours or less would wear a body builder out vs Dahmer who was lean, smoked constantly so his breathing is off, constantly drinking, didn’t have a proper diet, didn’t really rest or relax so his body should still be reeling from his “last workout”, getting away with these murders is *almost* biologically not possible so Jeffree was pushing his body to extremes in more ways than one. And I’m saying this as someone with personal experience who use to study anatomy in a lab with equipment and chemicals to get animal parts chopped, embalmed, and ready for schools when it came time to dissection day. In regards to the eyewear, Dahmer choose not to wear his glasses on court days because he didn’t want to see the families. He purposely physically impaired himself since he did feel guilt to an extent. This again reiterates the fact that Dahmer was completely sane at the time of the killings because he knew what he did was wrong, he knew what he did hurt people beyond just the victim, he knew what he did was illegal, he knew he wasn’t normal, but he still wanted to do/repeat the murders and experiments regardless even though much of the process, according to him, wasn’t enjoyable so he didn’t get “that high” that other killers experienced which would get them addicted. So why continue doing it if you didn’t enjoy it or made you happy? Where is the reward? Dahmer was really against people calling him insane, not mentally capable, etc, because it excused his actions when he was fully sound in body and mind when it happened, very much the “if loving you is wrong, then I don’t want to be right” logic. He very strongly believed “what I did was wrong, it was all me, I was born this way, nothing turned me to this, it was illegal on both laws of man and nature, but I did it anyways. Now I get what’s coming to me. Simple.” At least he owned what he did and he didn’t like people trying to dance around how “plain and simple” it was. Obviously in the series they didn’t really show Peter without the glasses because it would break the show’s “illusion”. We’d easily stop focusing on the story and go “oh that’s Peter”. Dahmer choosing not to wear his glasses during trail was an indicator to his psyche while in the series, it’s more of a fashion choice since Peter had to keep the glasses on if he wanted to keep the resemblance to Dahmer going to make his acting more realistic.

Beside the actual sister of the victim, every other complaint stated in this video is the most charmin ultra soft thing I’ve heard all day. “PTSD” is overused and in the wrong context way too often. The LGBT tag doesn’t need to only be used in flowers, bubbles, and rainbows type of stories. Like it or not, this story has ties to the community. “Inclusivity” doesn’t only come with the positive sides. But they are not required to get permission since this was all a matter of public record. And this showed his victims with compassion. Having actually lived during that time, compassion was not given to his victims at that time. Yes it was hard to watch. It's about a serial killer. It should be hard to watch. The victims should never have what happened to them sugar-coated. If you don't like it, find something else to watch.
