If smashing people's shrines and threatening poeple with death is considered by followers of the DL the right thing to do then they have little understanding of Buddha's teachings and should study correctly and follow the unbroken lineage teachings and put them into practice...the core of that is to not cause harm to others!

I think if we already practice Dorje Shugdan, we should continue as it is a practice bestowed by our precious Gurus. If we don't practice it, we should not disparage others who do because that is not what the Dalai Lama has ever said and taught. We should all start to practice the Dharma and not get carried away with politics.

I was there for his teaching on Saturday July 12. The Shugden Protesters were there, and yet it did not alter the calm that pervaded. His Holiness created a presence that I still feel up to this day, a week later. It was amazing to look around and see all the smiles on everyone's face, it filled me with great joy. Anyhow, I hope that the Shugden practitioners can find peace, after all...we are all brothers and sisters following the Buddha's teachings. Blessings to all.

From an outsider's point of view, worshipping one deity or another is neither worse or better, in fact, is all about beliefs. If Dalai Lama preaches compassion, tolerance and respect, he should perhaps put it into practice. I find it deeply disappointed that he goes around talking about love when he is discriminating about people in Tibet because they follow a certain cult. It has been claimed that certain Shugden followers have committed crimes... and who hasn't in any given community? What about the sexual abuse that many monk children endure all over Tibet? Wouldn't it be a reason too to then ban those monasteries? Why is the Dalai Lama turning a blank eye on this very important issue and focusing so much on the Shugden followers? I have no affiliation with the Shugden cult, I am simply a defender of human rights and democratic values, I am dismayed to see that those values are not important in the Dalai Lama's eyes. After all, he is the icon of a tradition strongly entrenched in hierarchy and privilege. A real disappointment.

Maria Delao Re: "If Dalai Lama preaches compassion, tolerance and respect, he should perhaps put it into practice. I find it deeply disappointed that he goes around talking about love when he is discriminating about people in Tibet because they follow a certain cult." You fell for their line. The Dalai Lama was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for a very good reason. Many Buddhist gurus, including myself, reject the practice of Shugden. There is no "ban". Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche has been allowed by the Dalai Lama to do Shugden practice. There is an EXCLUSION. If you do Shugden, then don't attend a Dalai Lama empowerment. The Shugden people claim to be wronged and they attack. Viciously. Everyone is getting sick of them. Including lots of principal Tibetan lineage holders. And the Dalai Lama has millions of devoted followers. He says it is better to not do Dorje Shugden, so they follow his very good advice. I have repeatedly defeated the Shugden people in online discussions. I would rather do something more constructive than fighting off vicious dishonest fools. But this is strategic defense of Great Way Mahayana / Buddhism and I have to get the job done right. I have succeeded on the discussions for this and other videos. The bad guys will lose. He who throws mud generally loses ground. The major western group doing Shugden, the New Kadampa, will fall. People leave them and find much better alternatives. The online blogs for New Kadampa and Shugden tell the real story. The truth will out. Even the muggle outsiders get it. The Shugden activists only make enemies for their cause, not friends. ======================= How to Practice: The Way to a Meaningful Life Paperback - August 19, 2003 by Dalai Lama (Author), Jeffrey Hopkins (Editor, Translator) Paperback: 226 pages Publisher: Atria Books (August 19, 2003) ISBN-10: 0743453360 www.amazon.com/How-Practice-The-Meaningful-Life/dp/0743453360/ As human beings, we all share the desire for happiness and meaning in our lives. According to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the ability to find true fulfillment lies within each of us. In this very special book, the spiritual and temporal leader of Tibet, Nobel Prize winner, and bestselling author helps readers embark upon the path to enlightenment with a stunning illumination of the timeless wisdom and an easy-access reference for daily practice. Divided into a series of distinct steps that will lead spiritual seekers toward enlightenment, How to Practice is a constant companion in the quest to practice morality, meditation, and wisdom. This accessible book will guide you toward opening your heart, refraining from doing harm, and maintiaining mental tranquility as the Dalai Lama shows you how to overcome everyday obstacles, from feelings of anger and mistrust to jealousy, insecurity, and counterproductive thinking. Imbued with His Holiness' vivacious spirit and sense of playfulness, How to Practice offers sage and practical insight into the human psyche and into the deepest aspirations that bind us all together. Amazon.com Review As a primer on living the good life, few books compete with How to Practice, another profound offering from the exiled Tibetan Buddhist leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Westerners may be confused by the book's title, assuming that it focuses solely on Buddhist meditation and prayer techniques. Though it does address meditation and prayer, at its core this is a book that demonstrates how day-to-day living can be a spiritual practice. There are two ways to create happiness: The first is external. By obtaining better clothes, better shelter, and better friends we can find a certain measure of happiness and satisfaction. The second is through mental development, which yields inner happiness. However, these two approaches are not equally viable. External happiness cannot last long without its counterpart.... However, if you have peace of mind you can find happiness even under the most difficult circumstances. As he has in previous books (An Open Heart, The Art of Happiness), the Dalai Lama reminds us that developing peace of mind means paying attention to our daily attitudes and choices as well as taking the time to meditate and be prayerful. The six-part book covers Buddhist meditation techniques and visualization exercises as well as daily thoughts and actions that foster morality and wisdom. --Gail Hudson 282 of 293 people found the following review helpful To Practice Peace and Kindness By Robin Friedman HALL OF FAMETOP 100 REVIEWERVINE VOICE on March 28, 2002 This book by H.H. the Dalai Lama may be read by those wishing an introduction to Tibetan Buddhism and by those wishing to begin or develop their practice. The Dalai Lama attempts to answer the basic question: "How can people be happy?" His answer outlines a path of spiritual growth and practice. Although based upon Tibetan Buddhism, there is wisdom in the book for anybody seeking spiritual growth, within or without any specific religious practice. The book consists of six short sections. It begins with a brief discussion of the life of the Buddha which, as the Dalai Lama points out, encompasses the basic teachings of the Buddhist path: morality, concentrated meditation and wisdom. The Dalai Lama then explains the basis of each teaching in short chapters. It is good that the book gives its focus to moral practice -- curing anger, lust, hatred, and agression and wishing well to oneself and others. Chapter III of the book discusses meditation practices and will introduce the beginner to the value of meditation and to several meditation techniques. The Dalai Lama stresses the need for consistent practice and for patience and for the need of controlling one's expectations. There are several chapters which discuss the difficult but key Buddhist teaching of dependent origination. Much of this material the Dalai Lama also covers in an earlier book called "The Meaning of Life." There is a concluding section on Tantra, a uniquely Tibetan practice. I think it is better for the average person to remain with the practices of morality and concentration described earlier in the book. Some of the unique features of this book are the Dalai Lama's anecdotes of his life in Tibet before the Chinese Invasion of 1950 and of his teachers. There is a substantial discussion of sexuality in the book and of how it may be used (and abused) in the search for peace and kindness. (pages 192-196) There is a translation of the Heart Sutra, a key Buddhist text with a commentary by the Dalai Lama. (159-163) 160 of 169 people found the following review helpful Buddhism for Beginners By E. Thompson on March 19, 2002 I am completely new to Buddhism and am thoroughly impressed by the Dalai Lama's clear, simple explanation. He effectively describes how even a complete Western beginner like myself can begin to end suffering by practicing. Throughout the book, the Dalai Lama's enlightenment and compassion shine off of the pages through modest stories of his life and experiences. The Dalai Lama starts out the book with the basics of Buddhist morality, moves on to the practice of meditation, and ends with the details of wisdom and tantra. There are images for meditation, lists of moral and amoral thoughts and deeds, and even a short explanation of the concept of emptiness. Most striking of all is the Dalai Lama's comment at the very end of the book, "Though my own knowledge is limited and my experience is also very poor, I have tried my best to help you understand the full breadth of the Buddha's teaching." With these words, the Dalai Lama sets a startling example for the aspiring student by both showing humility and providing a reminder of the breadth and depth of Buddhist enlightenment. I higly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in beginning to follow the Buddhist path. 55 of 58 people found the following review helpful Multi leveled book for practicing Buddhists By Tom Perigrin on August 6, 2005 This is not really an introductory Buddhist text, although the previous reviews suggest that some (but not all) non-Buddhists have gained by reading it. Rather, it's title exactly describes it - if you are a practicing Buddhist, it tells you "How To Practice". Of course, there is no single way to practice - in fact, there are at least 84,000 ways to practice spread over many traditions (Theravadan (SE Asia), Mahayanan (Zen, Pure Land), and Vajrayana (Tibetan). This book is primarily written for Tibetan Buddhists, but the guidelines are sufficiently broad that I have given this book to Zen and Theravaden Buddhists who found much to agree about. The book is broken into three major sections - mirroring the three fold grouping often applied to the 8-fold path: morality, meditation and wisdom. The book also introduces the Tantric methods of Vajrayanan Buddhism. Each chapter covers it's topic in a clear, concise fashion, and ends with a "Summary for Daily Practice". This helps tie the writing (which can be somewhat theoretical) into the title of the book "How To Practice". The first section introduces the Four Noble Truths, and expands upon them and finally brings them to ground in practices such as such as the Four Wholesum Practices, the Six Perfections, etc. The second section is a brief but very clear introduction to various types of meditation, including analytical and stabilizing meditation, etc. I have loaned the book to other practitioners and they agree that this is a great book to loan to beginners. The third section is about Wisdom - the nature of reality and relative and ultimate truth (and for those of you who are really dedicated - emptiness). He ties all of this together with brief analysis of the Heart Sutra. The book is only 220-odd pages long. This means it is just a brief overview. A Tibetan scholar (Geshe) will spend 18 years studying 1000's of pages covering these topics. However, in one way of looking at it the book is far too long. A student of Zen might say the whole answer is contained in one Koan or statement such as "Go Straight". And that too is the nature of Buddhism - it is both so huge and ulitmately so simple. =======================

From the bottom of my heart as a human, i am NOT A CHINESE PAID AGENT. I work my butt off to make living. This is what all Tibetans will call you if you oppose their lovely leader - chinese agent. Ok, Do any Tibetans remember when Dalai Lama said 5 years, most 10 years of when Tibet will be free? Obviously we know by now that praying and honesty does not deliver Independence. Has anybody had chance to ask Dalai Lama, what happened to that prediction? .... As a Tibetan, will somebody ask him when he will lead us closer to our freaking Independence??????? Just ask him, what are you doing to gain our Independence? I love peace and world peace, but what the ..... are you doing to help Tibetans gain their much due Independence? You are after all regarded ass EVERYTHING all mighty Spritual and Political leader by all Tibetan. I used to pray daily and never dare to ask you questions but you have grown into a world celebrity and your administration is feeding off your celebrity and make their living. But what about the real cause? Those who support and truly care about OUR COUNTRY, ask Dalai Lama, WHAT IS OUR PLAN TO GET OUR FREEDOM BACK???? You can go into heaven by following and believing Dalai Lama, but i rather stay back and live and fight for Tibet until i DIE. HELLLOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If one understands properly the function of protector deity practice there is no issue. The truth is that the D L speaking out against this practice which has been passed down to him through the most venerated spiritual guides has produced vast amounts of suffering for many people. Those who see him as the leader of Buddhist teachings (this is not the case but he is in a position of great authority) have acted on those words and created violence and hatred against many Tibetans in particular.

Animal murder is like any murder, If a man murders a person and others eat his body, they will all be implicated in the murder and equally receive punishment. the world wide suffering and murder of animals is the karmic cause of violence in our world. Besides destroying the forests and oceans this is main reason for war, famine, disease and all sufferings plaguing man-kind. I see a world plagued with pain and suffering, war, famine, natural disaster, mental illness, it makes it impossible for me to be peaceful and happy with so much unhappiness in the world, I have spent 20 years searching for why its like this and have realized that their is KARMA. Karma is as real as gravity, its absolute. like what goes up must come down.I see it so clearly it has forced me to change my life and live with it, as to go against it is like walking of a ten story building in ignorance of gravity. Violence is everywhere people hurting people, but if we take a look from another angle we can see people being hurt by other people, and then we ask why? Why are people being hurt by other people? why do a lot of good people suffer violence? like women and children why are they receiving violence? The list of happenings where innocent people lose their lives is unending, far to much to list here so why? what activity are these cultures all doing that could possibly bring about such violence as seen in wars etc... the answer is "Animal slaughter", killing and causing the suffering of animals, its the only thing they all do that is violent. Cause and effect, we reap what we sow, thall shalt not kill, Karma. This and Hurting mother earth in all variety of manner, but mainly this. You only need go to any slaughterhouse to see the cause of murder genocide anguish and fear. The poor animals are screaming just like we do, they are fearful and in anxiety just like we are, if we want a non-violent world, we have to be non-violent. Their is no empathy in a society of animal killers and people who destroy rain-forest and kill all the oceans creatures. This was the Buddha's main conclusion in concerns to the cause of suffering. Violence results in violence, if you read this please try to see this, Karma is 100% reality, means weather you believe or not, doesn't matter, whether your young or old, like gravity it doesn't distinguish, fire burns weather your know its hot or not. If you don't agree with violence don't commit violence. This is where all our societies have gone wrong and thus been destroyed. take the fruit from the trees, the leaves from the gardens etc theirs no need to kill. Thank-you.

Just so people can stop centering there criticism of this issue around His Holiness, and for those claiming he has strange body language which means "he's not telling the truth" even though thats just how he and other teachers ive seen sometimes move there body while talking, theres more you all need to learn about this issue than just videos of the Dalai lama talking about it. First off, he's not lying when he says that the 5th Dalai Lama advised againat this practice. The 13th Dalai Lama was against it as well. Along with His Holiness Sakya Trizin, Mindrolling Rinpoche, many Nyingma Lamas, the Nyingma tradition in which this practice actually is divisive towards, and Guru Padmasambhava himself gave prophecies of a time when Tibet will divide and fall apart when people start worshipping apirits as though they would Buddhas. Also, in the order of reverence within the merit field, the Guru is at the very top with the Buddhas, and the deities and bodhisattvas and arhats all the way down to the bottom are all established in hierarchical order. Guess what remains at the bottom...dharma protectors. Why? Because dharma protectors are not actually part of the 3 jewels, the are aids in one's practice but are not the center of one's practice. So when you give an initiation for a protector practice, something is off. A buddha or other deity can be considered a protector because they protect as they are objects of refuge. However a strictly dharma protector is not a buddha. Furthermore, Lama Zopa, who advises against the practice especially within the FMPT, and Choden rinpoche who himself was a student of this lineage, gave up this practice and followed His Holiness. So are they now abandoning their lineage and teachers?? Nonsense. The fact that the Dalai Lama thinks critically and can make rational decisions and can change his mind on certain things shows he does not follow dogma. Because real Dharma is not dogma.

ianipoo Re: "Guru Padmasambhava himself gave prophecies of a time when Tibet will divide and fall apart when people start worshipping spirits." That is correct. The ancient prophecy of Padmasambhava was clearly fulfilled. "When horses run on wheels, and the iron bird flies in the sky, the Tibetans will be scattered like ants across the Earth and the Buddhist teaching will come tothe land of the Red Man." That is what happened. A thousand years later.

@MsOntological I've visited the local NKT center a few times, though not as a member . . . based on what I saw in the gatherings and what little I've read of NKT literature, the Kadampa tradition does not seem to put any form of worship of (or prayer to) Dorje Shugden front and center, so to speak; instead, the primary focus seems to be on teaching Buddhist ethics and Buddhist philosophical principles, perhaps combined with a bit of honorary deference to Shakyamuni Buddha. Is that about right?

Honestly, I don't feel one way or the other about Shugden practice but mainly because I'm not too informed as to what it's about. This is the most straightforward answer I've gotten from a Tricycle article. www.tricycle.com/feature/letting-daylight-magic-the-life-and-times-dorje-shugden The so-called Drakpa Gyaltsen* pretends to be a sublime being. But since this interfering spirit and creature of distorted prayers Is harming everything, both dharma and sentient beings, Do not support, protect or give him shelter, but grind him to dust. - The Fifth Dalai Lama (1617-1682) *The Drakpa Gyaltsen was the Fifth Dalai Lama's rival. Dorje Shugden is considered to be his reincarnation, resurrected to oppose the involvement of Gelugpa monks with Nyingma teachings. If people want to practice, fine. If people don't want to practice, also fine. I don't really approve of the steps taken to exclude the Shugden practitioners at all. But the Dalai Lama is human and is prone to make mistakes as humans do. Hopefully soon he'll see that his decision divides people and that, in it's essence, contradicts the teaching of the one-ness of humanity. That doesn't mean all he says is bad. Just that mistakes were made. Big mistakes but human mistakes.

The Dali lama just proved he is not Avaloketishvara. an enlightened being would be able to determine whether Dorje Shugdan is an enlightened being or a spirit. If the Dali Lama changed his mind on Shugdan, he must either have been mistaken then, or he is mistaken now. No enlightened being could make such a mistake. Thus the entire basis of the man's authority is disproved.

ZionRebirth .Tello Re: "the issue is in misunderstanding". No it is not. There are two opposing camps and there can be no reconciliation. The issues are all entirely clear. I would be happy for each side to each simply go their own way. But the Shugden people attack and attack and attack while claiming they are wronged. That's what this is all about. It's gone too far and it's gone on too long. and the Tibetans and western Tibetan Buddhists are turning against the Shugden people, because quite a few of the Shugden activists are so abusive. I find them to be vile and as Buddhist guru I judge that their Mahayana Buddhist commitments are often completely destroyed. The penalty for that is, among other things, that they cannot accomplish any higher spiritual goals. This is a zero-sum game. And the Shugden people will lose. They started a war and there can be only one outcome now. If I were on their team I would resign right now. It's hopeless.

6月2号开示;Dalai lama said.

If I understood some of his feedback (video etc) on the decision, his decision is based on advice from other teachers as well. Many switches and changes within policy and politics has always happened in the past as well, including stopping that practice... ...

I'd also like to tell people who ARE interested in Shugden that the Dalai Lama is NOT a bad person. He has instituted a ban. That is for sure. But i think that the Dalai Lama is doing this for other reasons so we should NOT judge him or say negative thing about him. Yes we can question. We can disagree and discuss but let's not throw mud and be nasty. Especially to the Dalai Lama, and especially because Dorje Shugden has said so.

The type of social strata practised in Tibet in fact was a benign form of peasant / landowner relationship, with the landowners most often not much better off than the labourers themselves. Indeed, there was a kinship amongst all of the population which was unique to Tibet, and bonded landlord and peasant in a much deeper sense than just their common economic fate.

It could be the case that bodhi shug den is martyred by jealous assistants of 5th dalai lama, and the wrath that followed could be that of the fury of the dharmic wholeness, now mistook as a anger of a murdered over his murder, the legend says, he volunteered his death as he taught compassionqtely, his killers, how to kill him - but the then Dalai lama did not know any of such background facts. Further, the being helped dalai lama to escape from Chinese aggression. So, after reading, I think, this being, could be a holy sage martyred, victim martyres become guardian ancestor, in many culture. I think dalai lama should correct his reading as he should not hurt a beneficial sentient guardian, a dharma protector. He could be the bodhi dharma siddhan, known in Chinese legends a siddha from the south India. Taking all these into consideration, dalailama should correct his error, if any. The wrongs, if any, would be politically used by the political enemies of Tibet. I hope some one would take this message to his holiness Dalai Lama.

So in this way editing creates a course of events over the next 100s years 1) People think'if all these lineage gurus, senior masters of the last 350years,didnt realise they were doing incorrect practice, they didnt know what they were doing' They were not Enlightened beings. Then the entire lineage is invalidated. 2) That it is acceptable to remove traditional practices Lamas will begin to do remove other instructions. 3) people will abandon the lineage holders and force them to edit.

Leave aside relying upon him as a protector, they even deride others who do so. There are some, indeed, who echo such claims knowing nothing about it. Yet all this talk is nothing but babbling speculation. Why? Because this great guardian of the teachings is well known to be the precious supreme emanation from Drepung monastery's upper house, Dragpa Gyaltsen, arising in a wrathful aspect. If you actually read the story of the Fifth Dalai Lama, as he is suggesting, you will see that he eventually realized he made a mistake about Dorje Shugden, recognized him as a Wisdom Buddha and made a statue of him and wrote a praise to him. This is all explained in "Music Delighting an Ocean of Protectors" written by Trijang Rinpoche, the current Dalai Lama's teacher. We are waiting for the current Dalai Lama to follow the example of the fifth and realize the mistake he is making.

***** Re: "We are waiting for the current Dalai Lama to follow the example of the Fifth [ Dalai Lama ]". He does. The Fourteenth Dalai Lama, like the Thirteenth and the Fifth Dalai Lamas, oppose Shugden. The mistake of the Shugden activists, which is their aggression, is now crushing them. Give it up! As of 2015, you lose! I'm serious. Read this and weep. You backed the wrong horse. All your efforts are wasted. -------------- buddhism-controversy-blog.com/2015/06/24/tibets-top-religious-leaders-condemn-shugden-worshippers-anti-dalai-lama-tirade/ More than 66 representatives from 58 monasteries and Buddhist institutes, including the Gaden Tripa Rizong Rinpoche, the Sakya Trizin, the Karmapa Rinpoche, the Menri Trizin, the Shabdrung Rinpoche, the Drukchen Rinpoche’s Representative Khenpo Tenzin and the Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche’s representative Kathok Gezey Rinpoche attended the conference, as did representatives from the Jonang tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, said the exile Tibetan administration at Dharamshala on its Tibet.net website Jun 20. ------------- A previous (100th) Ganden Tripa (Head of the Geluga Order), Lobsang Nyingma Rinpoche, stated: “If it [Shugden] were a real protector, it should protect the people. There may not be any protector such as this, which needs to be protected by the people. Is it proper to disturb the peace and harmony by causing conflicts, unleashing terror and shooting demeaning words in order to please the Dharmapala? Does this fulfill the wishes of our great masters? Try to analyze and contemplate on the teachings that had been taught in the Lamrim [stages of path], Lojong [training of mind] and other scriptural texts. Does devoting time in framing detrimental plots and committing degrading acts, which seems no different from the act of attacking monasteries wielding swords and spears and draining the holy robes of the Buddha with blood, fulfill the wishes of our great masters?”

Than Nau Yes, it is ironic. Just as you say. Beijing confiscated the food of 500,000 Tibetans and then made most of them starve while that food fed only the Chinese. And they blew up over 4,000 monasteries. Beijing supports ( some ) Shugden followers and temples in Eastern Tibet. This works well for their program to undermine the Dalai Lama. I have seen on a Shugden website praise for the powerful, modernizing Chinese regime. But it is still basically a slave system there. China is still a feudal empire. It's the Dalai Lama who supports democracy and freedom of religion, not the Chinese. The Fifth, Thirteenth and Fourteenth Dalai Lamas have consistently and strongly opposed Shugden. And that turns out to be of huge significance. Shugden is a minor protector spirit, a gyalpo, and clearly very punitive. Best to avoid the gyalpos. Especially this one. That Yellow Book is pretty scary. And not how Manjusri or Yamantaka would do things. Shugden is NOT a classical Gelugpa practice. And the Sakyas have shut down Shugden practice. Shugden practice is fairly minor in the West and is weakening among both Tibetan refugees and western tantrikas. Thank goodness.

Their mission was first to find and then to maintain contact with the Aryan forefathers in Shambhala and Agharti, hidden subterranean cities beneath the Himalayas

If we have put faith in someone such as the Dalai Lama, it is always hard to accept that it is possible that they have done something badly wrong. Simple logic shows that so much suffering and problems have occurred since the DL 'made it difficult' or you could say banned the practice by ostracising monks and nuns and people in Tibetan communities. Also, logic says that if the DL was a realised being he would have understood whether this practice was correct or not a long time back since he practised it for many years! These instructions of Dorje Shugden dharma protector practise are pure teachings passed down through the lineage and through HIS teachers, so is he saying the wonderful teachings of his spiritual guide Trijang Rimpoche and all the lineage gurus are wrong? This is clearly crazy...he should stop mixing political power and religion. It looks to me that him being chosen as DL was made for political reasons and he was brought up in the unfortunate position of being a political and religious leader who is treated as a king. I sympathise. The teachings of Buddha are clear and unmistaken....we should not be the instigator of suffering for others and unfortunately the DL and his supporters are finding it difficult to look at the truth of this because their life and view and view are closely tied together. It is the teachings of Buddha which count and we should all maintain the purity of that. As soon as he stops this controlling of religious freedom, the protests will stop but The DL and many others will have to develop humility and admit they have made a mistake...this is important to be able to do on the Buddhist path...but if he does, as Buddhists we will all say how wonderful... they have developed a humble mind....there will be no losers then!! Until that day comes and DL supporters let go of thinking he is the head of Buddhism, protests will continue. Anyone who practices Buddha's teachings purely and who has deep and profound realisations of all the stages of the path is a true lineage holder. May all interferences and obstacles to people's spiritual progress be Pacified!!

The controversy started in the 70´s after "The Yellow Book" was published. In modern times DS became the enforcer of the purity of Gelugpa doctrine. DS has a sectarian purpose. According to this book. Shugden has punished (even killed) Gelugpas who mix the traditions. This book angered the non-sectarians and eventually resulted in the split 1996...

Peasants often had their own plot of land they could cultivate, and paid the landowner in service of labour or produce as their circumstances afforded them. Tibet as a country was very poor but content, with very little difference between rich and poor. The workers were not bonded to the aristocrats and could move on to work for other landowners if they felt they could improve their lives by doing so.

Hello ik its 6 years ago since you posted this comment but its like saying how can we say that it will hurt us if we stab ourselves with a knife if its all in the heart/mind of the being? It sounds silly when put into this context right? We are all in samsara and yes things like these lack inherent existence but thats through the eyes of beings with that understanding, if a man were to distrupt me everytime im trying to meditate it would cause harm to my cultivation because of my karma and afflictions, it would be silly to say that karma will suddenly break down when we touch emptiness. Its very easy to confuse emptiness with non-exsistence...
