Streeting is dreadful and a dreadful danger to the National Health Service. Bevan warned of the awful dangers of ANY commercialization in the NHS, which would not only destroy it but with it the whole ethics and construct of welfare and social justice in Britain (Beven: "In Place of Fear" - a book so valuable today, so readable and relevant).

As ever... Dr Bob on the money... there is another big health scandal in the making... that of private sector assessment, diagnostic and medication management via online services.... just filling the void of GP posts with such services will result in mis and missed diagnoses.. and of medication mismanagement, near misses and probably preventable deaths.
@M_Bamboozled6 күн бұрын
I'm seeing my GP today, although I don't have a named GP and see someone new every time. I spent 30 minutes on the phone queue. I might not actually see a doctor, maybe a 'Physician's Assistant' (a USA private medical term). Talking to a GP friend and a practice manager friend, they think it's almost too late. It will be sold off, it's already 99% there. US private insurance companies smell money and that's the model they want to see. Private providers have been infiltrating the NHS for years. Perhaps they're happy to see the NHS run into the ground so that they can ride in to rescue? I'm glad I don't have kids. I imagine kids now that don't succeed in life, and can't afford insurance, living in pain and dying younger than their parents and grandparents. Watch Dr. Pimple Popper one day and ask why someone has been walking around with a disabling growth on them for years. They'll often say: ",I don't have insurance", or "they said they couldn't do anything" (well, not something their insurance would cover at least). And these are non-fatal examples!

We’ve boosted private healthcare profits by £10 million a week since 2012. But there’s a great opportunity. 94% of all privately outsourced healthcare contracts end during the next parliament. So the next government could stop the haemorrhaging of money out of the NHS easily & without additional cost by bringing those contracts back into the NHS.

Vote for the candidates who put people before big business. You don't have to vote Labour to kick the Tories out. Tories are smashed anyway. This is a hugh opportunity to vote voices for the people into Parliament to vote on the rights of people in the commons and not for profiteering private companies.

@@mikeharvey9811 Indeed they have. The first NHS cuts were made in the mid-1970's by Barbara Castle as Health Minister, and the reduction in NHS capacity has continued from there. There used to be 7 hospitals in the London Borough of Greenwich in the 1970's. We now have one, catering for a much-increased and ageing population. When I started as a Pupil Nurse in 1985, NHS cuts were already making an impact on services.

Streeting, Starmer & the Labour party all receive large donations from private health companies. The man who largely determines the manifesto, Lord Peter Mandelson, runs Global Counsel, a PR firm with many corporate clients. They clearly signal their intention to enrich their paymasters.

Both Labour and Conservatives have been responsible for reducing NHS capacity since the mid-1970's. Labour made the first NHS cuts in the mid-1970's, and the Conservatives continued them. The NHS was already starting to creak when I started as a Pupil Nurse in 1985. There is nothing to choose between either of them.

Everyone should vote green. They're the only party committed to improving life for everyday people. They will abolish pfi in the nhs and public sector
@TREVORALLMAN6 күн бұрын
As a former Green Party activist (2003-2011) I would never believe the rhetoric coming from the Greens after seeing what they did when gaining control of Brighton & Hove Council (2011-2015), as they supported privatisation of services despite claiming they were opposed to outsourcing of local services. They also attacked low-paid council employees, wanting them to accept a pay-cut, causing three years of on-off strike action. This led to a mass departure of left-wingers from the party. In the London Borough of Greenwich in 2018, the Green Party advocated voting for the Conservatives to keep Labour out. The Green Party have even ceased being an anti-war party, and now supports NATO, complete with its nuclear first-strike policy. We must also not forget the Green Party wanted to remain in the European Union, thus supporting its right-wing, neo-liberal economic policies, which include having competition in public service provision, in other words privatisation, so to believe the Greens are now suddenly opposed to a neo-liberal policy like PFI is hard to believe.

What Labour wont say is who the nhs is for... the extra appointments where only members will see a doctor. Private and exclusive for them. As soon as you went onto accusations of israels genocide you lost me. Multiply the numbers by1000 is what we'll get from labour.
