Yay almost 400K. Way to go Mic. For those new to the channel I recommend going back to the archives. These newer videos are great but the ones that were coming out every week 7 years ago really helped me in my whole food plant based journey. Good ! Try to eat a balanced WholeFoods plant-based diet as much as possible. Tofu, tempeh, seitan, nutritional yeast, vegetables, beans, chickpeas, lentils, healthy fats from nuts, seeds, and avocados, grains, wholegrain pasta & rice, whole fruits (not juices) etc. And don't see it as a journey; this is a buzzword of all ex-vegans; do it for the animals😉👍

This is all fascinating. My wish (to make life more enjoyable) would be for our species to only consume healthy foods, no matter the 'event'. I personally hate eating at restaurants; I hate attending 'events' and all the rest of it, reason being, I never feel 100% after these things. My favorite place to eat: my home. :) I found it interesting how greens, etc. curtail the negative effects... that's something that I always do when forced to go to a restaurant, I order a huge salad of some sort. :)

As an autistic person, it can be very difficult for me to avoid processed foods when some are my safe foods that I fall back into eating when I have to. I eat a lot more whole foods than I used to and always feel better when I do. But sometimes when I’m overwhelmed or in a sensory sensitive state it can be difficult to eat anything at all, so I will fall back onto a processed safe food over not eating.

Minimizing fat is a general rule. Most types of fats are inflammatory and cause low-grade endotoxemia when consumed. This effect is made worse when paired with sugar as the fat will slow down the digestion of the sugar creating prolonged blood sugar spikes (i.e. diabetes). Doctors like Neal Barnard have managed to successfully reverse type 2 diabetes just by minimizing fat content and adopting a WFPB diet. Dr. Esselstyn has done the same for heart disease.

After living on a clean low fat vegan diet for 2 years, I learned to “feel” meals. It’s like a second sense of taste. These days I will occasionally eat badly. To reduce how badly I feel, I have a few tricks: drinking green tea in place of coffee/soda, taking apple cider vinegar in water between meals, eating about 5 spoonfuls of black beans, subbing meat with tofu/mushrooms/etc. I also space my exposures to bad food with days of healthy eating. On workdays I eat an unsweetened oatmeal with nuts, berries, and spices, a big bowl of steamed vegetables, snack on apples, then beans/grains for dinner. I figure I don’t have any fun at work anyway, so eating clean neither enhances nor detracts from my day.
