I love the novelisation of this scene. "If you're working alone, wear a mask." "No one cares who I am." "The mask's not for you. It's to protect the people you care about." "Huh. And you always seem to know where those people are. How is that?" "I lost someone once. Since then I break into their homes while they're sleeping and implant a tracking device on the back of their neck."

Out of the darkness/shadows the vigilante appears coming back from hell, faces his most powerful enemy, beats him making him suffer the punishment, saves his city, lives a normal life in Europe. Nolan is the man, he worked very hard on this film, theres not very little batman, there's more than that, just pay attention to the dam film, not all superhero films r like the avengers.

Problem is Nolan’s direction and his choreography team’s work on the hand to hand fighting and mass group fight scenes were below average to terrible. He also greatly underused Batman’s gadgets and equipment. Everything was a one-off, never seen again piece of tech that never truly featured in a fight. The best fight he did, and the only one anyone remembers, was the Bane bridge fight, although memorable, it was also too slow and not dense enough to be the plot-twisting defeat and utter destruction of Batman that it was meant to be. Movies like Winter Soldier have multiple good action set-pieces, the ship fight, the elevator fight, the bridge fight, which doesn’t sacrifice story for substance. In the end, the Dark Knight trilogy was a superhero movie, about a crimefighter dressed as a bat who was skilled at hand to hand battle, with access to an arsenal of high-tech and low-tech weaponry. Nolan couldn’t properly capture that, and that is the main reason why the trilogy is flawed. Nolan is excellent at smart sequences. Think the bank robbery, the high-speed chase through Gotham, once against the Joker, the other from GCPD. But oh man was this superhero in a ton of badly choreographed, mistake filled takes that were never reshot. I love Nolan and this trilogy, but I still wonder, if only he’d managed the same slickness, density and overall capability in his fight sequences as the aforementioned elevator scene in Winter Soldier, the bathroom fight in Mission Impossible 6, Skyfall’s train fight...

Caleb Lim The fight with bane is dope. It’s more realistic than marvel movies. Plus dialogue and substance trumps neglected fight scenes to me

I wonder if anyone else had this impression (probably, actually), but I just thought that since Bruce Wayne never really wanted to keep being Batman his whole life, he told John Blake "don't thank me yet" because he knew he was going to pass on the mantle to him. Bruce knew that he was going to put Blake through a lot of pain before Blake would come to terms with his parents' deaths. Anyone else think that's true?

Love Nolan, but he absolutely messed up just about every fight sequence in Rises. The Dark Knight’s fights were decent but not good enough, in Begins he just shaky cammed through it.

FI you ask me, this exemplifies why the Dark Knight Rises receives so much critique. Its built up to be some sort of great epic finally, yet it lacks greatness. People ask how Batman got to Gotham, but in the Avengers how Thor did Thor get to Earth?Who cares, he was epic, the movie was epic! How could this scene have been epic? The music should be more triumphant and when Bane says impossible, it should be at its climax. Honestly, when I saw this scene I was not disappointed with what I saw, but with what I heard.
