"The Dark Knight," starring Christian Bale as Batman and the late Heath Ledger as the Joker, made box office history with an opening weekend record of $158.4 million. It broke the box office record for midnight openings. The film later racked almost $68 million on opening day, which was the highest grossing opening day ever. NBC's Michael Okwu reports the story on "The Today Show."

Yup now just Disney Marvel these days buy their own empty theatre seats to make their movie score $1 billion at the box office.

Guys, why are you insulting Nawab Ali? He was literally telling the truth. If you look at the box office of the Marvel movies, you can see that they make 1 billion dollars at the box office. He wasn’t insulting y’all, what he meant was nowadays, it doesn’t really matter anymore if a certain movie scored a record breaking box office record. I kinda disagree with what he saying. I think that the MCU makers also release the movies into theaters for audiences to enjoy. But y’all didn’t have to insult him for no good reason. Seriously, did you guys even look up the box office money for most of the Marvel movies?

@@cinematicworldofbenji9311 I don't see how anyone could frame what Endgame did at the box office as anything other than impressive.

It’s funny how the opening weekend record kept being beat in three consecutive summers in a row. In 2006 it was Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, in 2007 it was Spider-Man 3, and in 2008 it was The Dark Knight.

I remember seeing this opening night in IMAX with my parents. 9 year-old knew it was a special movie.

someone who reviewed the movie said it's better than sex. That's probably true cuz I had an orgasm watching the movie. If it doesn't win best picture and if it doesn't beat Titanic in the box office, it means that this world is in a complete shithole.

Justice League couldn't even reach that let alone beat it LMAO truly a disgrace of DC Comics the DCEU!

Justice League was malformed by Joss Whedon and WB executives. If it weren't for them, JL probably would've reached near, but not surpass (due to critics' unhealthy hatred for Zack Snyder), The Dark Knight.
