I really doubt Togashi would blatantly spoil his own story like that. It's possible his response was in the sense that they are mortal characters, so obviously their inevitable fate is death, as with any mortal character.

Imagine togashi just trolls us and the dark continent is like vulcan point where the dark continent is just another island inside a lake surronded by a bigger island called the darkest continent.

The dynamic between Kurapika and Chrollo/the Phantom Troupe is one of my favorite things about Hunter x Hunter and I really hope we'll get out of this hiatus eventually so we can explore it in more depth.

The fact that you are able to churn out quality video's despite the absolute lack of material distracts me from the fact that Bungee Gum has the properties of both rubber and gum.

“They’ll all die” = as human, they must die eventually. I believe Togashi was trolling with this answer. He didn’t mean they killed each other. Remember Yorkshin arc fortune telling, half of spiders die. Pakudona, shaknard and kortopi died, plus Ubogin = 4 deaths. 2 more will die but Kuroro and the spider will survive.

Something that I've thought of and haven't fully worked out, but have found it interesting and would never put past togashi to do is making Kurapika a pseudo leader of the Spiders. Be it in a way the Kurapika defeats chrollo and the legs decide that he should be the new leader, Chrollo puts a nen curse on him making Kurapika have to be the leader in a nen roundabout way, or even Kurapika himself has to lie and say he's the leader in order to achieve is vengeful goals/duties in the Succession War. Regardless I think it would be an interesting take on the oh so long conflict

I've always found Chrollo's quest for revenge to be a bit strange. When we first got introduced to the troupe, it was stated that one of the main ways to become a part of it is to kill one of the members. In other words "kill one of our family members, and we will welcome you as family." I understood this to be an unwritten rule that being part of the crew you needed to be ready to die and also that power is prioritized as a way to be welcomed over trust (which is why Hisoka was so easily welcomed, 'cause he's powerful despite not being trustworthy). This was also why I thought they didn't try to avenge Pakunoda or Uvogin at the end of the arc: keeping the spider alive is more important than trying to avenge dead members. So where we are at present, I'd have an easier time digesting the plot if Chrollo was just chasing Hisoka because he's a threat to the troupe, not as a way to emotionally avenge his comrades. I just don't buy it.

What if “they will both die” was metaphorical for major individual character development , to a point where you would consider their previous selves ‘dead’

Sad thing is that as long as kuripika lives, so does his clan. He has the genes plus knows the traditions, but he is so trap by revenge that he has being risking his clans future for their past

My greatest question is if Kurapika can forgive Chrollo if he does indeed ask for forgiveness because he understands Kurapika after loosing his troupe, and what process will Kurapika undergo for it to happen, and by some miracle Kurapika gets to live on and find love and makes a family of his own, will he finally be able to let go fully of the past, forgiving himself and forgiving the troupe and just enjoy the peace and joy he will feel? will he finally be able to let himself breath and all that stuff? cause he really deserve a happy ending, kinda sad that he might die.

You make me love this series more and more.

“selfless antagonist” is a great description of chrollo as a character and part of what makes him so interesting and different in the context of tropes

I definitely want to see something where Kurapika and Chrollo are forced to fight together against a similar foe. Chrollo understanding Kurapika's loss would add some spice to that angst!! Legit I cannot WAIT to see what sort of shenanigans Hisoka is going to pull in this arc as well. The battle between Hisoka and Chrollo was a psychotic fantastical shit show (rip the audience) so I. Can't. Wait.

I think it’s highly possible that the way that Chrollo will die will be mix of both the first and the third option. Where basically the entire Phantom Troop gets killed off by Hisoka, and then Chrollo begins to understand how Kurapika feels and ends up hating himself for it and feels deeply srry for wht he did to Kurapika’s clan because he ends up suffering the same fate as Kurapika and realizes how much of a monster he truly is. Then he ends up sacrificing his life to save Kurapika from some sort of cataclysmic event as a way of apologizing to Kurapika for the atrocities that he has committed. Which would be sick cause this conclusion would be a double religious allegory, alluding to the two religious figures that a lot of Chrollo’s character is based off of, that being Jesus and Buddha. Because well, similar to Jesus he has 12 disciples, and similar to Buddha, he seeks to understand the ways of the universe and fate itself and well… Just look at the guy’s character design, he literally looks like if Buddha was a mall goth.😆 And the religious allegories that this ending would be creating is well, for one, him finally realizing all the evil that he has committed were his own conscious actions and not that of fate, therefore making him realize that he is responsible for his own destiny. This would be an allegory for Buddha’s own enlightenment of reaching Nirvana just with a dark twist on it. Similarly Chrollo sacrificing his own life to atone for his actions and to save Kurapika, would be a very interesting twist on Jesus dying on the cross for humanity’s sins. Except unlike Jesus Chrollo wouldn’t be sacrificing his life for everyone else’s sins, he would be sacrificing his life for his own sins. This, in my opinion would be the perfect way to put an end to Chrollo’s character. Also ur theories were ABSOLUTELY fantastic. I don’t think a few fan theories hv ever made me more excited about where a series is heading than this.

i wish soooooo badly to see them interact. by far they have the most heavily weighted and traumatic past but very little interactions in the whole show. which kinda sucks because i don't want to sound like a shipper but they do have an interesting chemistry (?) Nooo more like dynamic i guess. Chrollo's/phantom troupe's existence has played a massive role in making Kurapika, Kurapika. from what ive seen and whats been foreshadowed a tiny bit, they will interact again. and its possible that the turning point for both their characters will be their interactions. that is if togashi doesn't change his mind or finishes the story

I always thought the “they will all die” quote as being a joke based on the fact that all humans die eventually. I mean the question did say “ultimately” and it seems like his type of humor.

Been saying this for years: Hisoka will fight Chrollo to the death, Hisoka wins. Kurapika does in fact sympathize with Chrollo and turns his attention towards The 4th Prince, killing himself and the 4th Prince using judgement chain against a non spider.

What makes chrollo such a legendary character is his mysteriousness , we saw almost nothing of his past so we still don't know why he does what he does , but i believe that the scene where gon asks him a certain question under the rain holds so much significance , here is my analysis so bear with me : Gon proceeded to ask him : "how can you kill people who got nothing to do with you ?" Chrollo replies : "Why indeed , because they have nothing to us" At first it seemed like the reason is because he simply he doesn't care about the lives of strangers , the only people he cares about are those associated with him and have a special place is his heart . But after more thought chrollo continues : "No , on second thought it may not be that simple " Now this the most important line because at first , chrollo thought that he kills people because they got NOTHING to do with him , but maybe he was killing them because they got EVERYTHING to do with him. I mean think about it , the spiders come from meteor city , a place where anyone can dump anything , its residents are not even considered a part of society and the whole world knows this but no one did anything about it , so why would chrollo care about the world if the world didn't care about him , maybe chrollo kills undiscriminately , while unconsciously having some sort of revenge against everyone , because they abondoned him and thd rest of meteor city which brings us to the next point : "How do i express my motives with words , i am not fond of it " This is very related to the second point , chrollo here admits that he doesn't want to say his motives out loud , but why one asks ?? Chrollo is a natural charismatic leader , and by defintion he is a proud man , so perhaps it was because he doesn't want to apprear pathetic even in front of two mere children , he doesn't like the role of the victim , so not expressing his motive may as well have been him just locking that reality into his mind. Chrollo finally concludes : " but oddly enough or perhaps it is not that odd , is this the key to understanding myself " This is also very intersting , because now we know that even chrollo himself doesn't quite understand the reason behind his actions , he is just a guy going through a human introspection and trying to dive into the depths of his human nature through destruction , murder , stealing and simply wreaking havoc. Togashi is a master of his craft and i think that he already has his plans for chrollo so i believe that he wrote that scene for a reason , i just hope he will be healthy enough to continue this amazing piece of art. Sorry it was this long , but i hope you had fun reading it if you ever made it here.

When he says "all of them will die" make me think of one thing: Hisoka kills all the members but Chrollo, Kurapika confronts Chrollo, a looong battle ensues, Kurapika kills Chrollo but dies right after because of Emperor Time

I wonder if Togashi ever says “Spirit Gun!” When he pees. Or “Spirit Shotgun”/ uses the sword to open dimensions when he takes massive poops. A few years ago, Oda had a special on his office. He had a mini train he would ride to different rooms, a toilet that looked like a shark because Jaws scared him and he thought he’d poo faster sitting on a sharks mouth. Oda’s desk - super messy and crazy. Bleaches - perfectly clean. Togashi - A future teller ( Hisoka & Mike Tyson getting off during fights) but I think he also has a Nokia phone, as not even Mike Tyson with the power of rubber and gum can break it. But I imagine he plays snake all day. We gotta get him the holy grail so he can live forever to finish Kurapika’s arc to end the series, so Berserk doesn’t repeat. Though the ending is depressingly fitting, he struggled to continue writing but did, and towards his passing produced more chapters. RIP. A manga with a legitimately valuable life lesson.

I mostly agree except I believe Chrollo and Kurapika's interaction is going to happen before all of the Troupe is wiped out, with the last few remaining members under threat of being killed, at the same time Kurapika will be losing the Succession War badly, this would lead both of them to form a temporary alliance with one another where they might end up empathizing with each other.

When togashi said they will all die maybe he was referring to the vengeful kiraprika and the evil chrollo dying and both of them turning over a new leaf

If Kurapika had lost his clan to somebody else,for example the mafia,he would be the exact type of person of which the troupe consists:lost,an outcast.I wouldn’t put it past him to join such an organisation for revenge,which in this case doesn’t work just for the fact that his revenge goes against them

Honestly, if both characters have a similar development to Gon and the Ant King, I would be so impressed to one character be redeemed and the other lose their humanity for revenge.

I could see the outcome of chrollo diing and kurapika seeing or being with him at that time. After, kurapika uses his nen to accomplish what chrollo couldn’t; avenge his spider brethren. Since kurapikas kill was stolen, he might as well and then dies of using one of his spider-only techniques. Also, idk how much of a threat Hisoka is to gon now, kurapika might have that in mind too

hey, i really like your videos, i wanted to talk about a theory i've seen on another youtube chanel about the chapter 0. in that chapter there is a girl with a broken leg, and kurapika helps her for a long time. the girl might be pariston hill, its a bit confusing but not impossible since she had rat ears and pariston is the zodiac of the rat plus the fact had multiples injuries coming from no where also she disappeared just before the phantom troupe killed kurapika's clan

I think Kurapika will die but he wont stay dead. Post-mortem nen has been a really big theme as of late so I wouldn't be surprised if Kurapika or even hisoka himself restarts his heart after dying from emperor time. I think permanently killing Kurapika off would be too cruel, we need to see our boy save himself and give himself the happy life he deserves

I wish the phantom troupe committed more horrific actions throughout the story. Showing the compete anarchy of the tropes actions. Though I don't understand why the troupe hasn't been wiped out by hunters. Though you could say that's currently happening.

I feel like nothing is set in stone, especially with how Togashi is known to switch things up. It’s been so long since we’ve had any content that he could realistically go in any direction with this. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kurapika and Chrollo got married at this point.

To be fair to the troupe here, the way Togashi talks about everyone dying seems to be very sarcastic when you hear it. The way he specifically says that Kurapika and the troupe will die really sounds like he's talking about them dying of age or something. It's very sarcastic, and he emphasizes specifically "well, yeah they WILL die..." And he drumms it out as if he was going to say something else and stopped himself. Also Nobunaga has been showing he doesn't really need a Hatsu to fuck people up, he's got what 3 kills already and each one was done with a single attack. They are gonna be very difficult to take out, I mean there has to be a reason black list hunters choose NOT to go after them, and most actively avoid their bounty on the boards all together. Granted quite a few have been taken out but people like Chrollo, Franklin, Machi, Feitan, Phinks, Nobunaga, and Bonolonev are gonna be exceedingly difficult to take out. I honestly don't really see Chrollo being beaten or taken out by anyone on the black whale at the moment either. I almost, somehow, see him managing to steal Parallel Future : 10 Seconds in a Flash and Cats Name : Cat Who Lived 1,000 Lives which would make him basically, a Nen god.

Haven’t heard any togashi news in a minute. Hope we get some news soon on what’s happening with hxh considering we’re going on a 4 year hiatus. Do you think Shōnen jump will eventually speak to togashi about the situation ? Perhaps they have and we are simply in the dark.

Hi Liam, I am addicted to your videos, great quality and thanks for filling this hxh void that has been like that for 3 years and counting. I wanted to suggest that I would love to see a top 10 nen users but 10 years in the future from this current arc. Also I was thinking that it would be awesome that Kurapika had an ability to turn someone in a "spider member" to use his abilities on him/her (coming with a big cost obviously) and dealing with Tsierridch that way. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. That could apply to Kurapika and Hisoka. They both want the spiders dead for their own reasons so they might end up colliding at some point while hunting them down. If and when that happens they either team up...or they kill each other because either of them wants to have the spiders all to themselves. Either way I want to see an interaction between these 2, it'd be interesting to see what they think of their shared goal. Even though Kurapika has more dangerous things, a more dangerous man to be specific, to worry about.

So I feel like Togashi would do well to reach out to you and both of you continue writing the series. I have thoroughly enjoyed nearly all of your videos, dude! Super fun and I love your thoughts on everything.

What if Chrollo kills Kurapika, and then uses the Nen resurrection to resurrect Kurapika instead? That could give both of them a path to redemption.

One thing that’s interesting is that Chrollo and Tserriednich both have Christ or anti-Christ like aesthetics. I’m pretty sure Togashi did each of their individual designs on a whim, but it’d be interesting if they somehow clashed. With Tserriednich being so dangerous, Kurapika might need assistance, perhaps in exchange for a favor? Idk…
