Misleading title, the gun isn't bad at all it does exactly what it was designed to do and excels at it. Defeating body armour isn't what it was designed for, and if your enemy is wearing body armour, there is a thing called "headshot" which tends to get the job done.

There exist protection equipment for the head as well!

@@killerkraut9179 How many helmets protect the face from bullets? Not many. And an MP5 is just a tool, it's not the only tool in any SF units armoury, if you employer an MP5 for the task it was designed for it will get the job done. Try and use it for a task it wasn't you will get problems, that's the fault of the operator choosing the wrong tool, not the tool itself.

@@chrisbourke9729 Even if the face isnt protected by a helmet the target is smaller! And there are some helmets who protect the helmet from pistol rounds!

@@killerkraut9179 Who cares, the weapon is designed to be used up to 100 metres or less away, a well trained operator can easily double tap a headshot at that range with such an accurate weapon. As stated this weapon easily carries out everything it was designed for, who cares if some dumb Yank cops tried to use it beyond what it was designed for, if you want to defeat any body armour you don't take a 9mm weapon as your primary firearm.

The MP5 was manly designed for police and counter terrorism. Not so much for armys. For counter terrorism or police work you dont need bullets that can penetrate armor often. You need a bullet that do not over penetrate the target more. So NO! - The Mp5 isn't obsolete at all. For most if it, there MP5 is the perfect weapon to have and the MP5SD3/6 is unmatched silent till today. If you know you will deal witch guys with body armor, you go with other weapons. Thats why the MP7 was build. If you are a truck driver in armed forces and you need to defend yourself, the MP7 is clearly the way to go. Even if we see that not every solider wear armor today. Like you see in Ukraine/Russian war. They run out of body armor and made up some fake plates.
