In 1970, Jean-Bedel Bokassa, president for life of the Central African Republic asked the French consul in Saigon to find his daughter Martine Nguyen. After the false quick searches, the French diplomat said he found the girl of Bokassa.
In December 1970, a Vietnamese newspaper reported that the daughter of the President Central is not the real Martine. The Centra African president accuses France of having found the girl to ridicule him and also plant her as a spy.

What a chace that I came by this story. My mom is half African and half Vietnamese. She was born in 1952. She does not know her father. He left when she was 2 years old. All she knows is he was soldier for the French. I often think about what he is like, is he alive or dead. I wonder if you can help. Is a long shot but I want to give it a shot. Thanks and hope to hear from you.

Vietnamese here. Great content from this channel. I love to learn about stories and history of Francophone Afrique countries, as we share very similar history against French colonialism. Viet, Algeri and many Africans fought together in WW1, we faced the same racism, our kings exiled to each other countries, and there were a great deal of immigration, cultural exchange stories going on that were untold. With today independence, I hope former-French Afrique countries to never forget our dark history and find path to greater stability, prosperity and development.

I am surprised that after over 40years, I was struck with fear when I saw his name and his picture just as I did when my dad told us about him.... In my opinion, the tragedy is not that Bokassa fought for France (he was a soldier like many after all and France was ruling), but that he identified to much with France because they provided him Power and Privillege, and just to become an Insane and heartless Ruler. But that was the Post-Colonial plan at the beginning anyway. That is why I believe Pan Africanism can only have a chance with the Mindset of the educated social conscious young generation Leaders who have the Balls to Re-Negotiate new Trade Terms with Europe and China, so that more wealth stays in Africa to educate and provide health care for as many People as possible.

Wait that picture 0:35 is wrong. That is not the french colonial troops in French-Vietnam war. Majority of the French soldiers who fought in French-Vietnam Indo-China war was French. The minority of French colonial troops were almost all Morrocan, Algerian, Tunisian types. You can find them all over google and videos.
