I felt that Abigail's whole story arc should've been her finding her true calling. Like in the earlier part of her arc, she was dead set on becoming part of the guild but then realized that it was not what she really wanted to do. However, over the course of her interaction, she discovers that she loves handling cave monsters like slime creatures and wants to become the first monster ranch owner in Pelican Town.

Actually they explained it; apparently they programmed Abigail's dialogue a little wonky on accident, found out she was treating rocks like food and just rolled with it because they thought it was hilarious.

My favourite part was when he kept naming himself as the ones he was marrying and getting mad about it multiple times

Alex is actually the best. After having kids and stuff, he mentions how he's never had a real family before and how happy he is to have one of his own now. Some dialogue in the morning he'll say stuff like "what a great sleep when its next to my wife" or "you look so beautiful in the sunlight'

I'm the biggest Alex defender. Idk what it was about him but he instantly intrigued me. On my very first playthrough, I married him as the female farmer, but since then, every time I play as the male farmer, I always marry Alex. His arc is really interesting, I love that he changes for the better as he gets to know you. I'm not forgiving his misogyny (I'm a woman for the record lol) but I get the sense that he was shaped by his situation into what we first meet him as. His dad was an abusive asshole and the closest thing he had to a father figure was George (I also headcanon that he doesn't even realize he's being misogynistic, he's just always looked for magazines of strong men for inspiration so he has an unconcious bias to think that men are stronger, idk it's dumb lol). Anyway, sorry for blabbering on, I just really love this himbo with an angsty backstory and his bisexual awakening. Hi to any fellow lesbians who love Alex lmao

Elliot is my guy for a few reasons: he’s an artist, he lives alone in a cabin on the beach with a horrible sleep schedule (same bro same), and he’s totally queer coded. He calls me his darling man, he wrote an ENTIRE BOOK on my favorite genre, and he kissed me on a boat he fixed out at sea. Like come on

Demetrius is the worst person in Stardew Valley. Playing favourites with his kids, or more like, only considering Maru his child while Sebastian gets neglected by him, gets in the way of his daughter's relationships and being overly controlling. Being a know-it-all when Robin asks him to buy fruit from the store. What did Robin ever see in him? And apparently Maru is completely oblivious about the toxic family dynamics. Of course Sebastian doesn't talk to her, I wouldn't be surprised if that's Demetrius' fault too.

I love Sebastian mainly because he doesn't think like everyone else and is able to set clear boundaries with the player, which to me, as an autistic person with a low social battery, is very important! In his 2 heart cutscene, Sebastian says that while he enjoys having friends, it can be really exhausting to hang out with people all the time and that he needs time to himself to balance it out, which is understandable! I personally see Sebastian as very autistic coded which is another reason I love him so much, he's such a relatable character to me with both his personality, his dialogue, and that fact that he's really emo. Like come on, I know he's listening to Black Veil Brides and Falling In Reverse when he's working on a module, and honestly me too. I think Sebastian is such a good representation of an autistic character with not so great social skills, and he's never really rude to you when you first meet him, he's just very blunt and monotone. His facial expressions are almost identical if you aren't looking closely, which is another reason i think he is autistic like me, because thats something i deal with as well. Overall, i just love him so much and he means the world to me, I will romance him every single time.

Idk why some folks hate Elliott that much. Sure his language is a bit over the top, but he´s such a sweetheart. They could have easily made him a stereotypical fancy rich guy, but instead he´s just a passionate writer who wants to follow his dreams. Plus I feel like Elliott is really affectionate and loving towards the player unlike some other bachelors. He´s honestly so amazing

I think Maru suffers a lot because she's usually in two locations you don't visit super regularly, especially the clinic.

I also at least befriend Shane. The fact that he has custody of Jas implies that his friends died, add that to his dead end job and no wonder he's depressed.

I never understand why people say Shane 'backslides'. What, because he's still drinking...? He's not drinking to the point where he needs his stomach pumped. If anything, being able to have a healthy and non-dependent relationship with a substance you used to abuse is HUGE, recovery wise. I think people are just upset that his depression isn't, like. Cured. That's a huge draw for me, though- because i'm depressed, and it's not like i'm ever gonna *not* be depressed or have bad days. but being able to share your life with someone when you didn't plan on fully living it to begin with is absolutely miraculous.

Harvey is incredibly interesting and sweet, by far my favorite. I have no idea how people find him boring or forgettable wtf. T_T He is the only medical practitioner for an entire town, exhausts himself worrying about others, is infamously anxious to the point of getting Tumblr memed, and works really hard to overcome his fears. His date is a HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE, literally the most bombastic heart event. That guy is goals. Also have no idea why people choose to interpret his Maru comments in the perviest way possible. She's his nurse practitioner, of course he's going to have a closer relationship with her than the rest of the town because he's the most comfortable around her. There isn't a creepy bone in his body. The man STILL blushes after marriage when he's just suggesting to give you a massage after a hard day of work. No way he's saying something pervy about Maru without blushing and getting flustered about it.

Im going to be the sebastain fan and defend him. I always took his abigail line as him being confused. He used to feel romantically for her, but hes starting to feel that for the farmer. He doesnt really know where that leaves her, if he falls for you. I also assume he liked the idea of the city because a crowd is different than knowing every single humab in your town. Its crowded, but he can disappear. Also, if you play into the marriage, he gets a pet frog in his room. 10/10, only person i marry. 😂❤

I think it would've been better if you had music on for the cutscenes since most of them really set the tone for each heart event, especially Abigail's 4 heart event in the rain. Or like the event with WIlly and the crabs wouldn't be much funny without the music haha. Nevertheless, great video!

On a joking stand point, Shane is my favorite cause he's everyone's "I CAN FIX HIM" option lmao On a legit stand point, I always loved Shane because I've dealt with hard depression and anxiety myself, and while I've not dealt with alcohol addiction, there's a family history of said addiction, so I know what it's like. Plus, his cutscenes are so real and heartbreaking to loveable, and watching him go from pushing everyone away to getting slowly better always fills up my heart

I adore Sebastian but I think he should’ve had an arc where he got some therapy. Hes genuinely a good person and is actually kind of nice, however, he did need some mental help. With the whole Maru situation, I believe he never got the chance to truly fix any of the mental blocks he got stuck on. I think he should’ve gotten an arc where he got therapy and genuinely got better because a big thing was how he blamed Maru because he was neglected, which likely started when he was younger and was never sorted through it as he got older. I like Sebastian, even if I’m not really into the bachelors as a whole, but he should’ve gotten a better arc. I feel that way with Alex and Shane as well. Shane had a good arc but it didn’t stick after the marriage, and Alex’s misogyny was never really gone into when you choose the female farmer.

I'm very late to the Stardew train, but I was interested in Elliott when I first saw him. He's honestly such a sweetheart, and I can understand why people find him pretentious, but I'm somewhat of a writer myself, mostly an artist and musician, but he really struck a chord with me (pun intended). He's very supportive, and I love that he continues his dream of being a writer even after marrying the player. The event where he goes to the city to do book signings is really cute.

I like Elliot, I think he's one of the more under appreciated bachelor's in the game. His attitude/demeanor could come from nobility maybe? One of those oldish families that stick to the more higher class family stuff?

I don't see many Elliott comments, so I decided to make my own. In my first game-play of Stardew, I was gonna seduce Sebastian since he was very popular and I kinda felt a little peer pressured by the community to romance him. Not until one day, I saw Elliott's potrait in one video was like "What kind of love intrest says about you" kinds of videos. When I saw him, I was awed since to me, he was a handsome man. When I tried to seduce Sebastian, I started to talk to Elliott since I started to notice that the community didn't like him. I wanted to see what the fuss was about, when I interacted with him. He stole my heart immediately. I was a fan of his flowery language, yes it can be annoying but it gave him a form of charm. Personally, I think the community gave him way more hate than he deserved. I agree that some of the hate is understandable such as him calling Gus "Bartender". I feel like the rest just make my eye roll and say "Just say you don't like the character". Personally, I see Elliott as a person who may lack some social skills. Other than just him being from the city, I feel like he may be lonely for most of his life as well. Furthermore, no one supported his passion for writing. Leading to his loneliness and loneliness may cause a lack of his social awareness. Probably explaining his protentiousness since it could be him trying to keep you there with him. Since he does't really have much company other than hanging out with Leah on Friday's or in the festivals. Plus, it doesn't do any favors since he lives as a hermit in his cabin and writes almost all day everyday. As well, it seems like he feels he doesn't belong in the valley and I believe it is both his isolation and it doesn't help since he was new to the valley. In the ten heart event, he comments about how the valley is started to feel like home. In my opinion, I feel like Elliott is the best batchlor who is often overlooked and judged too quickly. As well as I felt like this behavior of his and perhaps his family life could have been explored more. Anyways, I am now finished with this long comment and I do apologize for a long read and some grammar errors along the way. I'm now gonna head out and be with my husband Elliott and giving him his favorite foods and his daily multiple kisses from me.

Abigail's comment on playing in the abandoned and overgrown farm fields makes sense to me. Its something that a kid would do. Hell, well into high school me and my friends all had fun doing exactly that. You got to see all kinds of wild critters in the tall grasses (pokemon anyone?). We'd just walk around, explore, and generally talk/hang out. Sadly, it became harder and harder as all our fields were slowly paved over as our neighborhood grew. They even drained the local swamp in favor of building a friggin' cul de sac. So, no. I don't think Abigail's initial conversation with the player is selfish or anything. She's lamenting her loss. But being as young as she is, she isn't properly communicating that.

Harvey is my one and only choice! His dialogue whenever you gain more hearts shows how he cares for you in the little ways. He's got a good career, he seems to be a stable guy all around.

The Harvey Slander 😭😭😭 Listen I used to think he was boring before but I gave him a shot and he’s my favorite bachelor. He honestly reminds me so much of my irl boyfriend. Harvey is amazing.

A few words about Elliott: I can't even understand how can people hate or dislike the most romantic guy in the whole game only because he's "pretentious"..... maybe he looks like that but he's absolutely not otherwise he would act like Haley at the beginning (ewww a stinky, dirty, ugly farmer who digs in the mud like pigs and probably poor too, how disgusting). But he accepts you the way you are and he's thankful to give him the push to fulfill his childhood dream that's why he dedicates his book to you. I think this is a great honor. The way he talks to Gus? Pls....Gus isn't that guy who gets upset just by called "bartender" that's why he answered "There you go, sir". They know each other's name but Elliott wanted to impress us and Gus exactly knew the ropes. The boat cutscene? It's so annoying how people can freak out about this scene because you're TRAPPED in a boat with him and you can't escape.... it's the same with Harvey but in a hot air balloon... and that scene doesn't bat an eye for everyone and you say that's completely normal....weird isn't it? Btw I really love that when he goes to his book tour and he writes a letter EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!!!!!! -and a whole poem just for his beloved...What's this if not true love and romance at its finest??? He's a delicate, highbrow and sharp dressed man who cares about himself, his beautiful hair and THE FARMER!! He makes you coffee, fills the pet's water bowl, feeds the animals, repairs the fences and cooks you seafood. He's the definition of romance and I love him so much. First reason i loved elliott is out of everyone you meet, he’s the one that was the nicest and showed interest in you being the new farmer not disdain (sideye shane n haley) or apathy. I think part of the thing about the "Abigail eating rocks" deal is a lot of her other loved/liked items are foods, and Concerned Ape just didn't change the dialogue to differentiate rocks and food

A small thing about Seb wanting to move to the city - sure, there's a lot more people, but it's way easier to go ignored and not have to interact with them, because you don't know them. In a small city, like Pelican Town, you're on a first name basis with everyone. And, people in smaller towns tend to be nosier, want to come over and know what you're doing and talk more. They're less okay when you try to get out of it, because either you're telling them outright that you don't wanna talk and that's rude, or you're lying to slip your way out and it's easier to catch or deflect that. In the big city, though, you've got a lot of people. You're only friends with the people you seek out, not the ones that are just ~there~. Your grocery store is a JojaMart Supercenter instead of a tiny neighborhood market. The people are different every day, and you've got little to no connection to them other than happening to be at the same store at that time. So, more people, and more generic/quick social interactions, but way, WAY less of the long/deep/tiring/inescapable interactions of a tiny town where everyone knows everyone.

"What is Penny's thing?" - I'm surprised how often people forget that reading books was (and still is) it's own 'thing'. Before video-games, reading was a really good way to expand your imagination. And in this universe, there ARE arcade games, and home consoles (though we only see couple basic systems), BUT they're roughly NES/SNES levels of tech. So it's safe to say Video Games haven't quite hit their huge boom yet in this timeline. So books are probably pretty popular... That being said; yeah she's kind of dry. Not much going on with her, except helping her deal with her awful mother.

I know this probably won't be seen cause I'm late to this vid, but thank you for saying you should ALWAYS ask instead of assuming someone in a wheelchair wants help. many disabled people feel like they have very little agency due to their conditions, and grabbing someone's wheelchair and shoving them around without asking can make it feel worse... like their space, individuality, and personal choice is all being invaded. someone's intentions can be good of course, but that doesn't help when you're forcibly pushing someone around in a way that makes them feel their own wants and needs aren't even being considered. always ask first!!

My biggest beef with Elliot is how ugly his portrait is. I hate side portraits and after downloading the cuter seasonal outfits mod, I found I like him much more. Similar situation with Sandy however, her personality made me like her more than Elliot.

Sebastian will always be my favourite. I've been playing stardew valley since 2017 and I've only ever married Sebastian, can anyone believe that? He has this soft spot in his heart people he loves and for frogs, it just makes me so happy. I first started liking him when he told me that he wished he had windows in his basement room, maybe that'd make him happier. And that crushed my soul. My husband deserves all the happiness in this world. Despite how Demetrius treats him, discriminates him against Maru, he never once acted like a rebellious child. That's why I've taken up the responsibility to give him a better life in my farm.

Abigail does have something going for her though. She wants to be an adventurer, but is always butting heads with her father because he doesn't think that's an appropriate thing for a woman to do.

Alex is actually really sweet when you marry him…and I I like learning his backstory despite the negatives. The girl comment and the bikini one is a little off putting but he doesn’t think you’d make a good athlete no matter the gender and his favorite season is summer so he could hang at the beach (and the only swimsuit you can make is a bikini top in the base game I think.. correct me if I’m wrong).

i love when the npcs have their own thing after they marry you. Abbie takes a walk around the town, Penny goes teach the kiddos... Marrying Sam broke my heart because he literally did NOTHING he liked after that. That's why I only pick Penny, Abby or Leah now. I'd consider picking Elliot sometime just for funsies too, but rinqueen said he looks like a mushed burger and now I can't unsee it.

(4:03) THANK GOD THAT SOMEONE SAID IT. i have guinea pigs irl and when i first saw abigails cage i asked my friend if there was an mod to fix it. not only should guinea pigs not be alone do to them being VERY social animals, the cage is also to small! you can see that based of the fact that it only fits an bottle, a house, and a bowl. my cage is the minimum for guinea pigs 3 hide spots/houses, two bowls, a bottle, and extra space for running around and hay. speaking of hay, there should be that to in the cage! guinea pigs should always have access to hay as it naturally chips down their fast growning teeth when they eat it, along with being good for their digestion. also its about 80% of their diet. the only thing that i can give her credit on is there being no salt stone and hamster wheel as those can hurt the guinea pig. also she gets another guinea pig baby when you marry her but the old one stays in her room at piers? like she just abandons the poor guy pretty much. anyways, as you might be able to tell i love guinea pigs lol.

My first choice was Sam but then I moved on to Alex lmao, I love the fact that when you're a guy he tells you that it's his first experience whit a guy too, I find that so cute. Being able to express myself in this silly little game helped me so much, so happy the community is still very alive
