I was unable to find any evidence whatsoever that Geller found any oil or that he was even hired to do so. The only thing I could find was from Geller himself. He labeled himself a "psychic geologist" and claimed that the identity of the corporations who hired him to find the oil must remain a secret.

His involvement in oil drills is easy to imagine: He was used as a cover-up, a frontman, for israeli agents and companies, when they needed to remain obscure. He would be the excuse for connections and money transfers. Next...

My grandmother believed in the whole Geller story. I don't think he is a psychic. But there are business interests behind his image. I have met people who know him personally in Israel. They don't believe he is anything but a good actor.

Unfortunately, Geller's flim-flammery isn't just some victimless stage act. To this day he profits from people's almost pathological need to believe in his "specialness" because Geller suggests to them that because his "powers" are allegedly "real", he is their guide to a larger world exclusive to those who believe in it. As I see it, this is blatant and near criminal exploitation and cultivation of a fundamental flaw in the human psyche.

I just saw an conversation between James Randi ( 88-years old in 2017 ) and Matt Dillahunty that was uploaded yesterday and where they talked ,among other things, about Randi's documentary An Honest Liar, that I'm now going to watch. There he said that in 2017 that Uri had just moved to Israel where he's ridiculed as an fraud.

Oscar, great new format, documentary/investigative productions. You have the perfect style and voice for the format, great job! As far as my opinion on Geller, fake actor as all psychics are. The Johnny Carson bit was brilliant, putting him on the spot with none of his props at hand. Concerning the CIA and the oil industry giving him cred, there are plenty of foolable CEO's and 'expert crime investigators' out there. Last word, what I bring up for all psychics and particularly to Geller since he claimed this was a God given gift... do something useful, save 300 lives by preventing a plane from crashing due to malfunction, don't bend spoons and start old watches ticking, total fakery.

My great uncle, Avishalom Drori taught Geller hypnosis, and they did hypnosis shows in Tel Aviv in the 1970s. My great uncle was a legit hypnotist. At some point Geller decided he was out, and did not include hypnosis in his shows thereafter. Just a fun fact :) Whatever the case is, regardless of whether he has special powers or not, it cannot be denied that Geller is an incredibly charismatic and talented performer and story teller, who has been able to capitalise on these traits for a really long time.

as shown here Uri was fully exposed on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Carson was a magician himself so he knew. to keep his hands clean he had James Randi prepare the test for Uri on The Tonight Show. he failed miserably. somehow it didn't derail him.

Yep. I talk about that in the video, and I think that this did 'prove' that he didn't possess the powers he claims he did. But what do you think about the other aspects of his life - with the CIA, Oil etc

@@oscar people think because he failed to perform on that show under a great deal of pressure that it must be false, and I do not claim to know one way or the other, but I can tell you that in the use of any mental ability pressure is a big factor. I personally think it speaks volumes that this did not derail him, peoples intuition was not prepared to write him off, they felt such a simple answer did not cover all the possibilities.

He never did anything that couldn't be duplicated through trickery. He bent SPOONS! Did you ever stop and think why spoons? Well, because they are easy to accomplish the trick with! With simple water dowsing which is supposed to be some kind of psychic ability, I know from personal experience that doing water dowsing on your own for your own purposes is much more successful than doing it for someone else. People of a nervious disposition tend to be good at these things but are also easily influenced by pressure. Most people who use dowsing skills do not do it to "entertain" others.

The oil companies were not trusting Uris claim, they were trusting his success in providing exact geographical spots to drill for oil, and finding it. The validity of the claim came from the success of his accuracy in finding it.

It might be surprising to younger people, but when I was a kid belief in supernatural abilities was shockingly high compared to today. Often when you read a fiction book, for example, one of the standard plot elements was people with ESP or similar abilities, and it was frequently presented as the kind of thing where "in the future" science had eventually refined the process of identifying and training the ability. Because that's how a lot of people perceived it, as a thing that was only mysterious because we hadn't applied the scientific method to it properly yet lol.

The 70s through the late 80s were a much more innocent time. Martial arts instructors taught the Dim Mak and harnessing Chi - and people believed it. The "New Age" movement was promoting the Harmonic Convergence and celebrities gave fortunes to Ramtha.

Tre romanzi a cui stavo pensando specificamente nel mio post e che trattano tutti il soprannaturale in questo modo sono la trilogia della Fondazione di Isaac Asimov, Starship Troopers di Robert A. Heinlein e The Forever War di Joe Haldeman. Mi scuso per eventuali errori linguistici, anche se è una lingua adorabile, non parlo italiano e ho dovuto usare un software di traduzione.

I am an 80 year old NOVICE psychic. Psychic stuff pops into my head when I least expect, but I am making slow progress with practice. Two weeks ago, in a public place, I took one look at a pretty Hispanic lady about 35 years old. I saw the word "Peru" and hear the word "Peru" in my head. I asked her if she is from Peru, and she looked surprised and said yes, she's from Lima, Peru. She asked me how I knew that? I told her that I have no idea, and that "Peru" just popped into my head. I'm not advertising that I'm even a NOVICE psychic because people will run away!!! Psychics (more powerful than me) can most likely reveal past and present events, but future events are unpredictable because of The Butterfly Effect. IMO, when psychics become celebrities, the pressure to perform at will is the main cause of their failures. Remember that Jean Dixon sent JFK a letter advising him not to go to Dallas because something bad was going to happen. She didn't specifically say what, but after he got that latter, JFK, Jackie, the Secret Service, and Lee Harvey Oswald (STRONG INTENT to SHOOT) are all thinking that something bad will happen. Law of Attraction! Lots of people thinking worrying about something bad may have ensured that it DID happen.

I never heard of Randi. Uri Geller was famous here in the EU. I recall watching his show and having two watches which were not ticking (not wound up, and not working at all), and during his performance one started ticking. Amazing! And I think it was our own belief which made our (own) watch ticking, even though it only ran a few minutes. Our spoons did not bend .. ..

interesting to think how they scammed the tree drawing- most likely 1) they rehearsed it beforehand (like the infamous "quiz show") for ratings or 2) Geller was one of the priviledged few that get d2bw and rnraw which would allow him to see the nanocameras behind the guy drawing- which would still appear as if magic, but is done through nanotechnology., But most likely was option 1) they simply got together before the show and prepared the eventual scam.

In all fairness, i think this guy is very smart and i think he is a nice guy. He can not only bent the spoon but also the truth. Why he is very smart because he earned millions and people gave him a podium with exactly doing nothing. He had nothing to offer especially the truth. I was on a show with Uri, and was sat about 5 meters from him during his performance, The man was fascinating, magician or illusionist ? His showmanship was brilliant, I watched him very closely and tried to see how things were done, But nothing. I spoke to Uri and he was a wonderful person who gave his time to talk to me, I still have the spoon Uri bent and broke into two parts which I picked up from the stage, I had it mounted on a ceramic tile which I later got Uri to sign at another event.

I have recently been reading about UFO’s / UAP’s and have a fascination with all things attached to high strangeness and the occult. I try to balance an open mind with a critical one. So I have been reading about Geller in a Jaques Vallee book and I decided to do a quick research about Geller, that is how I stumbled on your video. I rememberec that his abilities have been debunked in the past and I just wanted to verify that. But apparantly Geller seems to have abilities wich seem extraordinary. Even though I still keep in mind that high profile government agencies are run by mere flawed humans and that they too van fall victim to magical thinking as any mere mortal can, I do still think there is a facet of conciousness we don’t quite understand yet, supernatural,phenomena seem to be a part of the human experience through the ages. Anyways great balanced video! Keep it up! And who knows maybe there is a facet beyond the physical realm we havent looked into yet and might therfore believe it does not exist.

B4 Uri there was a more famous magician. His name was Jesus and he could walk on water turn water to wine and turn a loaf of bread into enough food for everyone. I've also seen David Blain do the same tricks

James Randi can also do all of Uri tricks, live in fact according to James Randi, Uri geller can perform only 5 tricks, nothing more and he (James) dubunked them all.😅

I actually visited his museum for my brother’s birthday and he bended a spoon in front of our eyes. Plus, I bought one for myself and I still can’t figure out how this works.

I'm sorry but did you not watch the video? The spoon trick is particularly easy, you weaken the metal ahead of the show, then sleight of hand makes it look like a lot of force is being used to "bend" when in reality is actually super flexible and the hand movements are holding it together and hiding that. This is why Uri felt "weak" and "pressured" on the Carson show. He didn't get to use his own equipment, faced with an actual spoon he floundered.
