So sad that ZIM will probably never return as a show, at least not with Jhonen in charge. But I definitely understand his view, and it would be ok If it just stays mainly as a comic book series.

I'd say the darkest things I remember Zim doing were tearing out a child's eyeballs and in another episode replacing the organs of schoolchildren with everyday objects, then putting their organs inside himself. *shudders* I will never forget that episode

As much as I love Zim and am excited for the movie, it's kind of sad hearing this. Jhonen obviously wants to be done with TV Zim (if not TV overall), but of course marketing, business, fandoms, etc. won't let that happen. At least now, after this movie, he'll be able to be free of it. Love you, Jhonen, and thanks for the art

A part of me wants Jhonen to find someone to take up Invader Zim and keep the show going. I want it to be done WELL, because I don't want Invader Zim to be ruined. It's kinda sad seeing how he's not really invested in Zim anymore. I understand it, and I respect it. But as a fan, that's very disappointing to hear. Because IM still invested in it.

It almost sounds like he really didnt want to do this. From turning down a series, to a mini series, and finally settled on a movie. I get it, and I'm grateful we get to see Zim return... but his mention about his lack of patience these days makes me wonder why he's in the business to begin with.

You do realize that this is the guy who intentionally made Gir as annoying as possible, and was baffled as to why people liked him so much.

I'm weirdly inspired by the fact that Jhonen made this glorious show at the age of 22. I'm glad that he is making this movie for us, but I'm even more glad he isn't afraid to admit that it's tiring and he doesn't plan to do more of it. It's that honesty and brutality that, in part, makes Invader Zim (and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, I Feel Sick, etc) so great.

Outstanding! I always appreciate seeing Zim get some love. One of my favorites. I've tried, with varying degrees of success, to turn others on to IZ for... wow, 15+ years. Thought the gap between the first bits was long... Never thought we'd get some more. :)

The guy has obviously made enough money AND/OR feels accomplished enough as an artist that he's in no rush to take on the beast that is the production of an animated series. He was young, potentially broke, and hungry for affirmation that he was a great creator when he was younger, so he was willing to grind and tolerate production woes back then... now that he's most likely earned everything he's ever wanted, I'm sure he just wants to relax and enjoy himself, which he definitely has earned. Alas, it saddens me because I absolutely love Invader Zim, but I get it. I don't think the guy is married or has kids, so he's probably still really living life, if you know what I mean, heheh. Who wants to be held back by work/family when they don't need to be?

Bloatys the pizza pig was beyond disturbing not only that had a robot desk person talk about removing their eyes and alien babies invading earth and zim returning them in not the safest fashion great show that got away with quite a bit

Nick still has the rights, but Jhonen doesn’t want to work with Nick’s constraints. The best outcome for everyone would be selling the rights to a channel that lets Jhonen be Jhonen, if that’s what it would take for him to come back to the show.
