No, she's NOT strangled. She was slowly consumed unlike the others. Obviously the warrior tried so hard to prevent her of being consumed, but she still ended up being part of his 'nanomachines arm'. Again. Not a Anakin → Vader story.

So basically: The villagers are attacked by a darkness. A lone warrior attacks the darkness but loses his arm to it but the darkness also becomes his new arm. He uses it to fight other monsters since it is so powerful and it becomes more and more powerful in each battle. In the end it becomes too much so it consumes him and destroys everything he ever loved.
the dark side of the force gives Anakin power, even as a jedi
@vynonyoutube14187 жыл бұрын
Meaning: The villagers = the Republic, the Jedi The darkness = the Separatists (when it attacks the villagers), Count Dooku (when it cuts off the lone warrior's hand, not to mention Dooku is the de facto leader of the Separatists), the Dark Side growing in Anakin (or you can call it Darth Vader by this point) (when the darkness becomes the lone warrior's new arm and it consumes him later) The lone warrior = Anakin Seriously though, this is probably the best showcase of the Chosen One prophecy by far. The metaphor for Anakin is silently screaming, motionless, and unable to stop the darkness now controlling him before it completely overtakes him - that implies that's how Anakin felt as he turned into Darth Vader. Powerless to change his path, from the moment he allowed Sideous to kill Master Windu, silently screaming as he did more and more evil things until he was destroyed and put in the suit of Vader, sealing his fate. I just noticed that as the man in the vision uses the newfound power to take down bigger and bigger threats the darkside grows, and the people cheer him on, more and more, they praise him. So he continues to use the power to win with ease, certain that everything is okay until it finally spirals out of control as it always intended. Because of the cheers and encouragement he started to believe that the results were more important than the means
@sanyadek10 жыл бұрын
It's not about the arm at all, the arm is just a metaphor for power he gains from hatred, that generated from the pain of loss. It's great power, and great power corrupts greatly, as it was shown here: first he is in control, and things go his way, but then he slips, and the "dark arm" begins to grow, and slowly take everything away, until he is all alone. Alone and lost, his consciousness melts into the overwhelming darkness.

@mudkipzuzu2 жыл бұрын
True, just like Anakin losing his arm in Attack of the Clones was the first step of him becoming “more machine than man”.
@Kjf3652 жыл бұрын
I mean, it kinda was about the arm. Losing his arm to Dooku was his first real permanent mark of shame against his power as a warrior. Losing his mother to the tuskens was an excusable offense for him because he wasn't there to stop them. And taking revenge required no effort or extra strength on his part. He cut them down with ease. Hence how the figure cut down the evil at the beginning effortlessly. Then comes his confrontation with Dooku where he has this opportunity to prove his power by defeating him. Instead he loses half his arm and Yoda has to come and save him. His power based in the light failed him. The darkness within him sprouts from this failure, similar to the darkness sprouts from the figure's arm stump in the vision. After that he faces most of his challenges flawlessly because of this new power he gained from the darkness. And that progresses to Vader taking over the scene like we see. In canon, Vader often cuts limbs off inquisitors in their training to be a permanent mark against them that can drive and motivate them to use their hate. Losing his arm to Dooku deeply affected Anakin, and it is reflected in how he treats people. He even does it to Luke essentially hoping he gets the same feeling of despair Anakin felt after getting his arm cut off. That the light side let him down and that he needs to be more powerful to succeed. And in a way he almost succeeded. Luke at his very first appearance in the next film is force choking the guards to get into Jabba's palace. Something very out of character for a Jedi. This is him using his new arm of darkness to beat his foes with ease. Just like his father. Later on when he's on the precipice of falling like his father, he notes the missing hand just like his own. The descent started with the loss of the limb for both of them. Creating the seed of doubt in their ideals. But Luke in the moment recognizes this, because he knows how deeply losing his hand affected him, and seeing how his father went through the same thing made it click in his head.

The Story of the Ghost Hand also draws very heavily on the story of Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke. His character arc is very similar: He fights a demon but the fight gives him a cursed arm with incredible power. Each time he uses it, the curse grows, threatening to devour him and all he cares about. (And indirectly, it very nearly does).
@josephperez20043 жыл бұрын
Honestly my favorite Studio Ghilbli movie. The fact Ashitaka knows the curse will eventually kill him and so only utilizes it's strength in extreme situations rather than giving in to its power while he desperately tries to find a cure was a pretty gripping theme. Only tangentially related, and admittedly much darker, there is a similar theme in the Malus Darkblade book series where the titular character is constantly offered temporary power by a demon, but he knows too well that each time he accepts he loses a little more of who he is to the darkness eating him inside.

There once was a village which lived in peace, when two maidens went out to gather food, a great and evil attacked and ate one, the other survived and ran home to warn her husband, a great warrior. He fought off the evil and pushed it back to the abyss from which it came, but not before it took his hand off in spite. The maiden repaired him and give him a new arm, with this new power he fought many threats to the village and killed them. He was hailed as a hero, in his hubris he didn't know that his power spawned from the very evil that he defeated. The power took over and ate everyone in the village, except for his maiden, the evil choked her, with his own hand. With this, the warrior was driven mad from sadness, anger and grief and become a monster. Is that right?

Well you're on the right lines. Its just symbolism representing Anakin's fall to the Dark Side, from when he first started his descent into being a machine with his hand being cut off to what he will ultimately become, Darth Vader.

The novel version of Episode 3 has a subplot where Anakin views his mechanical right arm in very symbolic terms; namely that he can feel the power of a dragon, which symbolizes the dark side flowing through it and that he views that "dragon" as a powerful asset. The mechanical arm is made into a metaphor for how the dark side is replacing the things inside of Anakin that make him human, that the more he uses the power of that dragon the more it threatens to consume him and make him just like the beast. The scene where the right arm of the warrior turns into a black vortex and consumes him is foreshadowing the fact that Anakin's darkness is small now, only having taken his arm so far, but eventually will grow so large that it will consume him entirely. By the time the original trilogy rolls around and he's nothing but a man in a black, mechanical suit the "dragon" has finally corrupted him entirely, with darkness that was once internal now manifests itself on the exterior for the whole world to see. However, that's not the real tragedy, the tragedy is that the power that the warrior accepted in order to protect his wife and his village ended up consuming them as well -- the warrior's actions had consequences that went beyond him. The very tool he used to protect ended up destroying everything he loved, and that left him a hollow shell of his former self, "more machine than man, twisted and evil". The warrior in the vision is a warning to Anakin of what he will become, and that he should reject the power of the dragon, of that dark side corruption before it leaves him a hollow shell and destroys everything he loves.

What a great fucking analogy for the dark side Like how the more he uses the darkness the more powerful it becomes and the less control he has until it consumes everything and everyone around him until he has nothing left And the fact that the last woman was strangled, just like Padmé, was just the icing on the cake 🤌🤌 Even at the beginning it shows how he destroys the darkness/ dark side and he’s like the only one that really can (like the chosen one is prophesied to do so) but then he gets corrupted by it…it’s just soo..ahehesjajahfjfhfjssnsns Soo good. Genndy Tartakovsky is just a master at visual storytelling

It kind of foreshadowed that the loss of padme didn’t bring Anakin to the dark side. Rather that Anakin turning to the dark side is what brought the loss of padme.
@mobiusraptor72 жыл бұрын
It's the details that are impressive not the whole event. The last monster obviously represents Dooku, and the hero was more brutal fighting it than he should have been (referring to Dooku's beheading). Then there's the last woman he killed, obviously Padme.

My interpretation: The natural Dark Side of the force one day attacks a peaceful village, a village in harmony with it's environment. The absolute Dark Side, which seeks power over the natural balance over the force, attacks the village. It's vessel is a machination, a beast of unrelenting proportion. A beast that can engulf its nature, corrupting the balance by killing nature. A fearless and strong warrior from the village weakens the beast, wasting no time in defeating the Dark Side foe. But as he sought to destroy it, attempting to take the life of the dark side beast, it sought to take a piece of him too. It took his arm, and nurtured back to health, what he lost soon became his downfall. He began to wield his newfound health and power to have control over the balance his village was in. He aided his family, his home, by exploiting his nature to dominate the land for food and prosperity. And like the beast before, he too became hungry for more; destroying everything in sight for just a bit more at any cost. He became the beast he sought to dominate before. Metaphorically, this is Anakin's journery from childhood. The concept of circumstance, nature, nurture, and the Force come into play. Naturally, the Force, in a balanced state, will have a mix of chaos and order. Clearly something just like the Ying and Yang ☯️. In all the light, there can still be darkness, and vice versa. Some tragedy will come, as the dark seed is within all living things, but good comes as well. A perfect balance. Anakin, born on Tattooine, was born into maturally balanced circumstance in the Force. The nature of things around him, his village, was his mother and his life as both son and later Padawan/Jedi. He wielded great power, but the seperation between his mother and himself was far too great, and it influenced how he used his natural force gift to dominate the Dark Side at all costs, rather than coexist with his suffering. The warrior losing his arm is Anakin consistently suffering tragedy and letting the dark side take root into him. He used his great power to control everything, rather than to coexist with the natural harmony of the Force. The woman who nurses his arm into health, metapohorically, isn't just Padmé but the Jedi Order. His environment cured him, but their nurture fostered something within the warrior, within Anakin. Both the nature of Anakin and the nurture of his environment created the idea that Power meant everything. It's in essence why he becomes the beast he's always sought to dominate. He sought to dominate the Sith, but never fully understood how they became Sith. Rather than coexist with the Balance, his arrogance took root and he wanted the control through his power, the perfect definition for the Dark Side.

As far as I'm aware this is not just a prophesy, but a Trial of Spirit, or "Facing the mirror" for Anakin as it were.Padawans were facing these trials prior to becoming a knight, along with other trials, such as Skill, Flesh and Insight. Facing the mirror often made them traumatized, as it showed them the darkness within them.

Out of the whole prequel trilogy and this Clone Wars series, this foretelling was the only "prophecy" that I preferred. I never liked Lucas' idea of Anakin being "the Chosen One." I always just preferred this fortelling of Anakin's fall to the dark side as his emotions and power corrupted and belinded him, destroying everything he loved and almost destroying himself. I always preferred Vader as just simply a fallen Jedi, instead of a kind of "Christ messiah who turned evil"

+Reuben Filimaua Well if you think about it, the Chosen One prophecy explained why the force is so strong with Anakin and Luke. So the whole idea of Anakin being the "Chosen One" didn't really bother me.
@RebelCannonClub748 жыл бұрын
+Reuben Filimaua It could have been handled better with a few rewritten lines. but the idea of a prophecy never sounded far-fetched to me, Papa Palpatine in the originals always kept going on about everything going as he had foreseen. It makes sense that Sith could see the future and would write down prophecies for their apprentices to fulfill, as they were always at a disadvantage in terms of numbers and resources, so they needed a leg up in terms of force powers: choking, lighting, shrouding, ect.

Power, strength, and violence while at first may seem necessary, and may bring about joy for those you love, can and will consume you if left unchecked. That need for more power will grow until you can no longer control it, and it is then when it will take over, and that very power that protected your loved ones will turn around and be their downfall.
