Modern? There’s no modern or traditional way, bud. Knuckle balls has been used a lot of times in the past in the early days of football when they used bladder as the match ball. The type of free kick technique to use all depends on the flight path you want the ball to go to.

Notice how he didn't dive/fall when he got pushed from behind at 5:05. He didn't even call foul or complain to the ref. Notice how he didn't complain after being awfully fouled at 5:58. He didn't even stay on the ground. He immediately got up to see how his team is doing with the ball. Notice how he was immediately apologetic after his tackle at 2:30 even though he clearly got the ball. He could have protested and showed the ball's location, but instead he showed that he cared about the player he tackled. That's class. And it's rare nowadays, not even with today's best players.

Rio vidic stam .Beckham rwb Keane CDM Scholes deep playmaker Giggs lwb .Eric Cantona free role , Rooney free role and Ronaldo free role. All because I can't leave Becks out. Think all them in prime would beat anyone . 👍
@Aisatsana19713 жыл бұрын
@@Kiwippy “that somehow works” this just goes to show how clueless you are to the purpose of possession based football. The ball is recycled to keep possession with minimal risk of losing the ball. The more times barca did that, the more the opposition got frustrated and started narrowing towards the player in possession. They just could not get the ball and when they got aggressive they left pockets of space which would get exploited. Its extremely intelligent strategy which only the most technical players with mental fortitude and patience can succeed in.
@Kiwippy3 жыл бұрын
@@Aisatsana1971 thats not really how barca attacks, oppositions know how barca plays so they take a passive stance towards them. just because you possess the ball doesnt mean you are making anything meaningful out of it. they rely so much on getting people to double team a person such as messi when a play starts that another player is left open, if they cant get the ball there then its recycled. attacking people for just oversimplifying it somehow works because they are masters at making it works just makes you look stupid.
@Aisatsana19713 жыл бұрын
@@Kiwippy if barca had the talent today as they did in 2011, they would be the best in the world again with this exact style of play. When teams used to sit deep, Pique would get forward for crosses or to outnumber their defence. When teams play passive the maximum they would get from a match is a draw. If teams want to beat that barca team, they had to try and win the ball back. Only extremely disciplined and organised counter attacking teams could beat barca, anyone else would get shred open. Nowadays they don’t play that same style of football. It’s a different sect of the philosophy being used, not Guardiola’s philosophy.
