David Beckhams two short loan spells at Milan was really good. He was easily playing good enough to get a call for the world cup but then again destiny has some other plans. He really deserves more respect from the football fraternity. He had a incredible career.

@@SamuliGloersen This happens more because of his off-field behavior than his quality as a player. People find him handsome. His controversial relationship off the field caused this image. Fergie who was Beckham huge fan (calling him the best ever footballer in Britain) started to resent him. As Beckham sometimes challenged Fergie decision and tactics, thanks to Beckham immense presence he sometimes got the support from the squad and that annoy Fergie a bit and he started to accuse Beckham to be unfocused and blame it all on Victoria. Despite Beckham is still and always be the hardest working player. Roy Believes he was ousted for the same reason. To this day Beckham never called Ferguson as the best manager he ever had. Beckham is a perfect example of how a "RM = Right Midfielder" is different from a "RW = Right Winger" ....i.e. a RW attacks the space on the right hand side, meanwhile, a RM passes/crosses the ball into the space from the right hand side.

@Anthony Lemon ....correct Anthony...the use of speedy wingers is also killing the No. 10 role. Because, a center forward now has to be inverted, i.e. come and link up play, while that was originally a job for a No. 10. And worse, you can't have 2 CF's on the pitch anymore. Which is sad. A typical example of this is the end of Ozil at Arsenal and Guan Marta benching at Man United. An example of an inverted CF is Harry Kane at Spurs, and Roberto Fermino at Liverpool, who have no choice but to come and join play and at times, have to be more of creators while RW & LW run behind them to occupy the space that should traditionally belong to them. Sergio Aguero struggled to do this a bit at Man City. That's why he has to leave by the end of the season. It's not because he's getting old. The game is kicking his kind out.
@philanintuli8173 жыл бұрын
@Isabella Meyrink ....exactly Isabella...RM hardly score any goals as well unless they are set piece specialists like Beckham. They do however contribute a lot to chance creation with the deliveries into the box. Their value is seen when a team has a pure CF. We saw that at Real Madrid, Raul and Ronaldo enjoyed having Beckham on the pitch. One shortcoming here is that the team can't play with a RWB (Right Wing Back) because they'll end up fighting to occupy the same space and do the same job. I saw this fight when Real Madrid bought Cicinio (of Brazil) who wanted to overlap and Beckham didn't like it much. They had to sell Cicinio to Roma by the end of the season.
@Timliu923 жыл бұрын
The pretty face and celebrity status tend to make people overlook the fact that Becks was a class footballer back in the day. His crosses were super accurate, his work rate was immense, and he was also one of the greatest free kick takers of all-time. If you can stand alongside the likes of Schmeichel, Keane, Scholes, Giggs, Van Nistelrooy, Casillas, Figo, Zizou, Roberto Carlos, R9, Raul, Pirlo, Ronaldinho, Seedorf, Gattuso, Nesta, Kaka, Inzaghi etc without looking out of place, then you are indeed a world-class player.

@@riltoro At a time everyone was playing a press, the ability to keep a team honest, and make the press unplayable, with a long ball over the top was priceless. Just having him on the pitch so a team couldn't press, was worth it, even if he did nothing at all. A bit like an American Football team throwing a long ball to keep a blitzing defense honest, hitting a few long passes, even if they were not the best option, was necessary. Not many players come along in a generation that have a skill which is of tactical significance. Beckham was one. That is why Real Madrid went after him, because their main rivals were the team that favored the press more than any other.

So much better than the art film on Zidane! Beckham was indeed class. Great edit.

And Beckham finally proves his class at the age of 36 against Lazio, never in an England shirt, man u shirt, Madrid shirt, no, it was in the twilight of his career that he finally proved his class, Seedorf and Pirlo could only look on and hope that one day they would also prove their class.

Think what this one shows is the quality that Beckham had in knowing when to keep it simple and when to try for something more adventurous. Football brain and played within him limitations. Didnt have the pace of the iconic footballers but found a way to be just as effective... and did when her knew that very much all eyes were on him, with many hoping he would fail.

Look at Beckham's deliveries in this game, people forget he had a good engine, he was a good athlete for the whole 90 minutes even in his 30's.

and he’s a surprisingly good tackler too

This isn't beckham at his best at all... just him being being fouled, a few miss placed passes and generic play. Have a word...

@@michaelwheeler4631 Firstly it's 'would have' not 'would of'. Secondly, he's obviously trolling but there is absolutely nothing wrong with his use of 'you are'. You sound silly.

@@sebkhan560 Forgot the three assists. Beckham is such a disliked and criticized player because of his boring playing style and him not being very skillfull.
