Some have told us Cinema 1 the best equipped demonstration cinema room in the Southern Hemisphere and we would like to think that is true.
With reviews like this:
"I've travelled the world and experienced some amazing cinemas, BUT nothing like this. This has left me speechless and shocked. This is next level and arguably one of the best demo rooms I've ever experienced! The bass is detailed and impactful yet comfortable. Felt like I was on a ride." Mark R
and this:
"Just had a demo of this room. Incredible setup. Extremely dynamic with no fatigue. Clean and effortless sound. I'm very picky with my bass and this is the only demo room I have heard with no bloat. Subtle. Congrats on the room guys. Great investment for your business!"
We think this room is right up there. Come and experience it for yourself.
So, if you are interested in high quality home cinema then drop us a line and chat with us and ask for an invitation to come and tour this great home cinema complex unlike any other.
We look forward to seeing you there.

I love that you did a lobby and made it look the way most of us grew up with at the theater. I really think lobby areas like that even scaled down are going to be a trend going forward. People miss the full theater experience. Which now that we can replicate the same picture and sound, people ate next going to want the atmosphere entering their room. Or at least that's my felling on the topic. Anyways, awesome job and greetings from the US.

If I might make a suggestion, as you said you will add more projectors, I belive two important additions , for budget home cinema, can be Epson TW9400 and for the really budget tight customers Benq W2000 which, although it's just 1080p and it doesn't display HDR, it's a very good projector for SDR as it has better native contrat than most DLP's, including the Benq W5700 you have there.

We have tried to focus on the experience. We hesitated a long time over the colours especially the front wides but as they are angled in they are in shadow so don’t light up. We liked the open cinema-ish feel without to much “plushness” if that makes sense.

did you know that the air direction coming out of the a/c which in your case is in front of the projector affects picture quality? do the test,turn on the ac,pause the movie to a bright scene,then slowly adjust the direction of the air up and down. you will see some picture artifacts like hot air coming from boiling water. then turn of the a/c and the picture will clear immediately. the artifacts usually are in the center of the screen. please reply after test.
@HomeTheatreEngineering
@HomeTheatreEngineering 2 жыл бұрын
We were already well aware of this. The effect you are talking about only occurs if there is a thermocline. Once the room temp is within a few degrees of the air coming out of the ac the mix interface doesn’t occur. Already tested and proven. We just make sure we get the room to temp before we use it. :-)

Fantastic job! I'm a big fan of line arrays, in my opinion they are the best solution for cinemas. My new theater will have open baffle CBT line arrays, if you are not familiar with CBT, you need to look into it. I can send links to papers on the topic if you like. The advantage is constant directivity independent of frequency, something conventional lines cannot do. Unfortunately there are not a lot of good options available commercially, in fact there are non for open baffle CBT. I was planning conventional two or three way speakers for the surrounds but maybe I should rethink it. I really like your use of line arrays for the surrounds. CBT line arrays have to be a circular arc curve either physically or acoustically via DSP so it's a bit complicated. Physically straight works best in terms of constructing the speakers and fitting them into the room but this requires multiple DSP and amplifier channels for each individual speaker. One possible solution is to make a hybrid of physical and DSP curve, this is what I'm doing for my new center speaker. This simplifies the problem, by curving only the center and leaving the ends straight... the speaker doesn't need to be so deep. This also reduces the number of DSP and amplifier channels. In my center speakers case, it is reduced to just 14 DSP and 18 amplifier channels. This is still a lot but at least the DSP channels were reduced by physically curving the center. It keeps the speaker shallow enough to fit behind the screen whereas if it were fully physically curved it would never fit.

mfk Home Theater while not open baffle JBL do some excellent performing commercial and consumer CBT (Constant Beamwidth Technology) line array speakers. Just realised I had already subbed to your KZfaq channel a while ago. I'll check it out for your dedicated home cinema updates.
@mfkhometheater7742
@mfkhometheater7742 2 жыл бұрын
@@C--A I just posted an update if you want to see the CBT's. They are going to look pretty cool once I get them hanging from the ceiling. Yes, JBL does have some nice CBT products. Don Keele and I will be meeting in Kansas City to see the CBT home theater that was recently featured on Youthman's channel the first week of May. I think the, "J-array" concept is perfect for side surrounds. I had considered a ground plane CBT inverted, "a ceiling plane CBT" but this places them too high to be side surrounds and I think JBL's J-array non symmetrical CBT is the perfect solution. Of course I will build my own version. I'm glad to see JBL coming out with so many CBT products but I think they need more attention. There needs to be a lot more noise/conversation about them in forums to promote them. In general line arrays have a lot of advantages for home theater and countless other applications but CBT specifically is really ideal. If you are ever in the Austin, TX area look me up and come check out the system.

May I politely make a suggestion for a follow up video that I think would be fantastic?? You guys drive home the point that the room dictates what you do and EVERY room is a series of compromises... the more speakers, the tougher it gets! As good as this setup is in room #1, I can see where you have had to make design decisions. (Compromises) Will you PLEASE make a video on how this room was designed and the thoughts behind each action. If any other people than HTE feel this would be invaluable, please comment!

Great home cinema rooms Andrew, very well done, all well out of my budget though, my set up is 7.2.4, a dedicated 4k system, with a Samsung 55"NU8000 tv, Samsung UBD-K8500 4K player, a Yamaha RX-A3070 the master to it, with 2 external amps that are kenwood krf-v5100d-s (1 coming from my old system and second one I bought second hand cheap), one kenwood power's my side's and rear's, the other powering my atmos front's and rear's, leaving the grunt of yamaha to power fronts and centre, my fronts are Polk Signature Series s60, all other speakers are Accusound Reference 8.6xd, with 4 subs, 2 are Accusound Reference 8.6xd 200w, with 2 Emotiva basx s12 300w, some home made room treatment, all for under $10,000 lol, now that's a budget set up, it took me a lot of time setting it all up, calibrating it all, with a million dollar sound I love enjoy everyday.

In the time you’ve had this room up and running, have you found the height of the Line 2’s problematic with taller viewers in the back row being out of the zone of the line source? That dispersion just falls off a cliff.

I do agree, the video doesn't do the Freya justice but you still sold me on one. Was that 6 and a half feet high by 15 feet and a quarter feet wide. 8 foot high by 18 feet wide would probably be the maximum for the Freya that's a seating distance of about 15 feet!
@HomeTheatreEngineering
@HomeTheatreEngineering 2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure in feet and inches for width and height but it’s 180inch diagonal 2.40 screen. A Freya will do a much much bigger screen than that though depending on your intended luminance we are running at 40ft lamberts so plenty of laser power left had we had a bigger room.

Amazing room, just a question. Between Krix and Procella, which one would you pick for movies. Also why did you not go with the bigger Krix speakers such as Pix compared to the Megaphonix ? Thank you
@HomeTheatreEngineering
@HomeTheatreEngineering 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not easy to answer all of your questions in a quick KZfaq comment but.. the idea of the room is to be comparative in performance and budget. We would use either for movies if it suited the clients room, budget, design, goals, seating distance etc. Room 2 is not a big room so again speakers were selected that suited that room and again budget. The Pix would be inappropriate in that room for both reasons. If the room were bigger and we were demonstrating more expensive speakers then the Pix might have been an option. They are more than twice the price of the megaphonix. The aim was not “what are the biggest and most expensive speakers we can get into this smaller room” but which are more appropriate and a fair representation of sliding price scale and performance that are going to perform well in that space. We would never over specify speakers etc for clients. That can be a waste of money that can be put to use elsewhere. Design the room first, arrive at a selection of gear that works in that space then present the client the options that fit their budget. Guide and advise not sell the biggest speakers possible regardless of room specifications. Deliver the utmost performance you can for the clients budget.

What is the contrast ratio of that Freya? I heard it’s only about 4,000:1. That would bother me and take me out of the movie. I need at least 30,000:1 to have an acceptable black level.
@HomeTheatreEngineering
@HomeTheatreEngineering 2 жыл бұрын
I think you need to do a bit more research on this and better yet, find a way to experience a Freya Image. If anyone actually believes contrast ratio figures like 30,000:1 then they a being misled. Any figures such as 30,000:1 become immediately irrelevant in most home cinemas. ANY light in the room including light reflected of clothing or faces even rapidly reduces this figure closer to 3000:1 or even 300:1. These high contrast ratio numbers are derived from FOFO or sequential calculations alone and again are irrelevant. Barco and Christie are some of the very few companies stating realistic contrast ratios not just marketing numbers. We are definitely not comparing apples with apples here. I certainly wouldn’t be hanging my hat on that one number and saying “that would take me out of the movie” The bigger issue is the overall accuracy of the image in so many other ways. Want to find a great image look for full gamut luminance of primary and secondaries NO ONE publishes these! See my video “Color space are we getting what we paid for? As a nice wrap up Projection Central said this “Dynamic and Full On/Off contrast specs are notoriously misleading. They tell you almost nothing about what the average video image will look like. If everyone published ANSI specs, that would be enormously helpful, but the risk to the manufacturer is huge simply because the consumer will misunderstand them. Unless manufacturers suddenly take an enormous gamble to publish ANSI contrast specs in the hope consumers will figure them out, do yourself a favor and ignore the contrast specs you see today. Full On/Off and Dynamic specs say nothing about what the picture looks like, and they are absolutely no way to compare projectors.” All I can say is if I had a choice between a crazy high contrast ratio labelled projector image and our Freya image… it’s game over!

If that’s really your budget and this isn’t a facetious question then your best bet would be to get a second hand plasma TV and second hand soundbar or 2 channel system to get started. Surround speakers are “Line array” not “Line source”. Floyd Toole predicted years ago that line array surround speakers are the future of surround sound.
@HomeTheatreEngineering
@HomeTheatreEngineering 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you are technically correct they are line array and they deliver a sound that approaches a line source. It is not unreasonable to refer to them as line source by comparison to point source speakers to highlight the difference. And, yes one of the reasons for wanting to do this was a discussion I had with Floyd Toole some time ago about this very subject.
