There's a whole movie that could be made about Palpatine.

Palpatine grew up in a wealthy and powerful family in Naboo, so he always had this "superiority" complex from a young age. He got away with breaking rules and doing some pretty bad things such as killing a couple of people and his father covering it up for him. Palpatine as a kid felt nothing about murder because he saw those people he murdered as being less than him. Palpatine had this obsession for power and influence, and later when he became the Emperor he was obsessed with total control and omnipotence. He wanted to be God and have power over everything. He didn't care about the Sith lineage and rules, he didn't even care about the Sith at all, the Sith was only a stepping stone for him to get what he wanted and to put himself at the top of everything. That's why he was going through apprentices like crazy, any time he thought one of his apprentices had the potential to kill him, he'd get rid of them. If his apprentices had apprentices that were growing too strong, he'd order his apprentices to kill their apprentices so they couldn't team up to overpower him. Sidious was just the most evil and power-hungry character in the history of cinema.

It is kind of noteworthy that both Dooku and Palpatine hated their fathers and their family. Both fathers hated their sons from birth. Both ended up killing at last a few family members. There is something about the rejection at such a young age that was keenly felt.

In Legends Palps was already pretty well gone he was either born evil or quickly became even way before be reached his teens either way there was pretty much no detering him from his want for absolute power and well as immortality as well as knowledge yeah.

If they make a tv-show of Palpatine's rise to power I hope they use stuff like this. Making it dark and psychological. Mabe he also hears dark whispers from somewhere out in space his whole life, making it a "cosmic horrorshow"

Now I am not sure if the father helped in the creation of a monster or he was insightful that he always had one and wanted to get rid of it.

If Palpatine's father thought something was off with his son. Why didn't he try to consult the Jedi to check a possible force user? Edit: I just realized Naboo was not part of the republic yet during the novel so no way the Jedi could have been informed. And given Palpatine's father's pride I doubt he would contact.

I think it's down to your interpretation. The way I see it Plagueis was, in a way, being manipulated from day one by Palpatine. If not then he quickly learned that's how it should be, given his own independent interest in the Sith. I assumed he knew on some level what Plagueis was all about and the knowledge and opportunities he might provide, knowing all the time if that were so then Plagueis was someone to be manipulated and nothing more and he was exactly that arrogant as to believe that was the case. Whatever, the Darth Plagueis novel is a treasure of Star Wars lore not to be overlooked. Personally I'd recommend the audiobook if anyone is interested, it's well worth it and possibly my own favourite piece of Star Wars lore. The fact it isn't canon is appalling to me, it ties in so well to his character and where we find him in the prequel movies.

Sheev never had a taste of a truly loving family. Anakin had Shmi. Maul had Talzin. Dooku loved some Jedi.

A kid hated by his parents since birth is bound to have a negative reaction to such. If kids had Force powers like in Star Wars, I'd bet there would be a lot of dead parents.

Palpatine is what you get when a psychopath born in a wealthy family with no consequences is given control over the force. In many ways he is the PERFECT sith as he never had the capacity for good. He only cared about himself always and that’s why he both succeeded and failed.

De aged palpatine looks similar to Anakin, makes more sense if palpatine created anakin through the force and somehow Anakin taking on similar appearance during the process. Or palpatine slipped his dna in or something.

Sometimes I wonder how Palpatine would have been different, if he was found by the Jedi. Would he have been trained as a Jedi, and still fall to the Darkside? Would he have, outright, rejected the Jedi? Would the Jedi realize that he was, already, too corrupted by the Darkside, and they lock him away, never to see the light of day? Finally, I wonder if he could have been a Jedi, and what his father sensed, just his power in the Force. His father didn't understand what he was, because if he had known, then he would have contacted the Jedi, at once.

This makes me think of something said by JK Rowling regarding her character, Tom Marvolo Riddle aka Lord Voldemort. Tom Marvolo Riddle was born to Tom Riddle Sr., a muggle, and his wife, Merope Riddle neé Gaunt, a witch. However, their marriage and "love" was a sham, becuz Merope had magically coerced Riddle into loving and marrying her (either by the Imperius Curse, or more likely a love potion). But since Love cannot be magically created, the "love" her husband felt for Merope was a lie. After living a lie for so long, Merope grew guilty and hoped that Riddle would love her sincerely, but she was wrong. Riddle abandoned Merope, who was with child at the time. The devastation Merope felt caused her to lose her will to live, and she made her way to an orphanage where she gave birth to her child, living long enough to name him and express her hopes that he would grow up to look like his father, and then finally passing away. Tom Riddle was born as a result of false love, and so had no real capacity for love at all. Eventually, he would grow up to be the darkest wizard ever to live, Lord Voldemort. But JK Rowling has stated that, had Merope lived and raised her son, Lord Voldemort would never have been and Tom Marvolo Riddle would have learned to love from the love given to him by his mother. I feel Sheev Palpatine is quite similar in that regard; had his father, mother, and siblings given him the love he'd wanted the Darkness inside of him would waved waned and given way for Light that comes from the warm comfort of being loved, and thus Darth Sidious would never have been either. The Jedi and the Sith both severely underestimate the power that can come from Love, especially Love that is true, sincere, and selfless. The Jedi stigmatize Love, viewing it as dangerous, a distraction, and that it is too great a risk as Love could potentially lead a Jedi to the Dark Side. Whereas the Sith look down upon Love, viewing it in a similar manner but for fundamentally different reasons. The Sith view Love as a weakness, becuz to Love is to know and understand Kindness, Compassion, and Mercy, ideals detrimental and even unacceptable to Sith doctrine. Sheev was indeed born of the Dark Side, but his fate had not been written in stone. He'd had the hope to become a good person had he only been given Love and taught to understand morality, take responsibility, and been given a fair chance by his family to be loved and accepted. Instead, his deplorable father demonized the young Sheev, indulged him, and "protected" him, becuz he'd feared him too much to actually discipline him or hold him accountable for his actions. Then finally, he showed his son the true extent of his hatred towards him and what happened next surely would have been traumatizing, even for Palpatine (at the time). No child wants to come into a world where they are hated by their own parents and family; they are born vulnerable and helpless and in need of love and nurturing. Sheev Palpatine was never given any of this, and instead became the darkest Sith Lord to ever terrify the galaxy.

This what makes Palpatine the perfect sith, he was pure evil unlike most sith. He had a lust for power and would literally do anything to gain and maintain that power. That's also what makes him the perfect villain, he maybe pure evil but you can;t help but admire and respect him.

Papa Palpatine knows his son is evil and tries to strangle him but the boy is too strong. Father then says "well OK then" and gives up instead of trying a second time with a gun or you know, just stop feeding little baby Sheev. At the same time, he still treats his son with enough disdain and hatred that Sheev will not hesitate to kill him at the first chance he gets. I understand that the boy needs to live for the rest of the plot to happen but that is by far one of the dumbest character motivations in all of Star Wars tbh.

Darth Pennywise or Darth Loki? Haha but I think we all forget that palpatine also had a major role in balancing the force, he was as destined to as Anakin. And in their own weird, roundabout, murderous ways they did actually balance the force. Having a whole Jedi army and council persuading the galactic senate while exterminating any trace of "dark side" users wasn't very balanced. All jedi dead and all sith...balance.
