The Day Twin WAP-5 Hauled Special Rajdhani Was Inaugrated!!!

What started to be an normal early morning turned out tobe a foggy morning hampering the railway traffic too!!! Got out of the house at 0100 thinking it would be clear and would reach Vapi by the time Special Rajdhani crosses! Traffic at godbunder is still at large which thought was history!!!! Now looking at the traffic and wasting a good amount of time, I had to alter my plan hence decided to go to Dahanu Road. Reached Dahanu Road at 0400, stayed there till the Special Rajdhani passed!!!! Now my plan was to continue to Navsari as I had some work and as soon as I started my way back to the Highway, the visibility started to go down. It was foggy, all the way from Dahanu to Navsari!!! Completed the work, had some sleep and got out of the house in the evening to capture the Special Rajdhani again. This time met Kushal Dave and headed to Amalsad till Mumbai Rajdhani, captured AK Rajdhani from Navsari and then headed back home while cruising with a Volvo!!!!!!

+Frank Man both the locos are connected via HT cable hence both loco powered by one pantograph as railways dosent allow twin Pantograph operation above 100kmph!!!!

Really amazing video..!! It was quite odd to see the front pantograph being engaged in few of the WAP5s. I have seen rear pantographs commonly being used by locos. Also, I think the second loco in both NZM-BDTS and BDTS-NZM was for emergency purpose as only the front loco's pantograph was engaged in BDTS-NZM Rajdhani (very hard to see for NZM-BDTS Rajdhani). Superb compilation. Cheers..!!

In Australia, especially in New South Wales, if you hit a traffic jam like that either you have to go back find another route or have to sit behind the last vehicle in the queue as long as it takes. If you try to go through the traffic as you did, Highway Patrol will pick you up and confiscate licence with at least equivalent of Rs50000 fine. Slow driving, man made traffic jams due to not utilising two lanes properly, speeding up to stop others overtaking then slowing down again when successful in the attempt - these are not only accepted but expected. In India at least with the number of people and vehicles there is an excuse to go slow at 40km/hr but on open roads when it is permissible to drive at 60km/hr it's weird but then again they do this on one lane roads only not multiple lane highways where there are options to go past! By the way- on highways trucks and slower vehicles are meant to drive in the left hand lane unless overtaking...

+Francocallederivas have driven in Aurstralia for 2 years!!! Totally understand what you are trying to say!!!! But considering the amount of speed difference and quantity of traffic on indian roads + the lack of understanding for poeple driving and up to some limit cops too, the frustration level is very high!!!! Also most of the trucks on indian roads drive on the fast lane is to avoid stupid pedestrians + dumb drivers who come on the main road without looking behind!!!!! Too many comolications have messed up indian roads!!!!

Based on this video, there seem to be at least three pairs of twinned WAP5s. I have seen videos/pics of 30117-30125 and 30113-30128. Any idea regarding road numbers of the third pair??!!

Because of excessive loads on locomotives, Indian railways are slower. Also, there are speed limits on tracks. Therefore, even if locomotives are capable of going upto 200Kmph, trains are slower due to very heavy loads (18-24 coaches per train). if only 6-8 coaches are coupled to a WAP5, then It can go upto 200kmph without any problem..

+Bhaskar Ray Karmakar yes thats the logic!!!! IR restricts the oprations of twin panto to 100kmph due to ossilations on the ohe!!!! Hence these wap5s are connected via HT cables hence only one panto with both of them powered!!!!
