That was a faulty jet, it's lift thrust failed, the bit that makes it so it can take off with very little runway. The UKs destroyers (especially with its upgrade being fitted) are the best anti air ships in the world, it's carriers are the best around the world with only the us and china able to compete or be bigger or better (considering half the country's in Europe alone as teice as big as the UK or bigger, that's already impressive) the new type 26 anti submarine ships there currently building will be the best anti sub ships in the world. They're also in the process of building brand new nuclear submarines which are seriously impressive. The UK invest alot of its defense spending into its navy and ships. A carrier group in a few years with its aircraft carrier, upgraded destroyers, brand new anti sub ships and brand new nuc ships all in tow considering how tiny that little county is, well it puts most of the world with much larger countries to shame.

@@merlin5045 well yes, the b variant deploys vertical thrust as it's taking off, in combination with its horizontal thrust. That's how they don't need much of a runway to take off. You know the flap that opens up on the top behind the cockpit that I'm assuming you'd have seen. That failed. So what happens when you try to take off using just horizontal thrust alone with fuck all runway..... You don't take off lol, and if at the end of this tiny runway there is a sea, well you're going to fall into it. It's the only time to my knowledge that's ever failed like that, which to be honest I'm surprised that's only happened the once. With these being brand new 5th gen jets I'd have thought that would have happened at least a couple of times during the years of trials and testing they did. When the UK can deploy a carried strike group with 20/30 f35 b aircraft plus advanced helicopters, two newly upgraded type 45 destroyers and two of there brand new type 26 anti sub ships and then I'd image a couple of there brand new type 31 general purpose support ships and one of its advance nukes, well it pisses over any carrier group any of Europe can put together and the only two nations that can compete with that are the US and china. Given just how much more massive those two are while being similarly rich it's no surprise. There's not a single other nation in the world that can deploy a more capable strike group more advanced than the UK with it's new carrier, new type 26, upgraded type 45 and new type 31 and sub. And the UK could deploy two of these groups. Considering how tiny the UK is compared to most other countrys around the world, it's impressive what they can put out there. The likes of Germany, France, Spain modern rich nations over twice or 3 times more massive (and so percentage of GDP) and they couple compete with one of these groups. It's impressive. Tiny little UK is the strongest and most powerful NATO country in Europe. Kind of make you wonder why the hell rich countries over X2 bigger than the UK in Europe can at least match what the UK is going. French percentage of GDP in 2020 was 2.1%. The UK was 2.2%. Now France is nearly 2.5 times larger than the UK. UK annual gdp for 2021 was 3.1 trillion dollars. France, and remember France isn't some third world country, despite being 2.5 times bigger was just 2.9 trillion dollars. Germanys was 4.2 trillion and do you think Germany could twi state of the art carrier groups? The UK punches above its weight in its wealth and military and navy, considering how tiny that little island is on the world stage.
