I looked over at that direction and I could barely make out a strange form moving slowly. It kind of looked like a... Me: Hunter! This brought them on alert. Bambi: What? Marmam: He's lining up his shot! Get out of there, NOW! Bambi's mother: Quick! The thicket! And with that, we turned tail and ran as fast as our legs can go. Bambi was at the front while I was in the middle and his mother was right behind me. We jumped over a river and, BANG! He missed me by a few inches. Bambi's mother: Faster! Faster, boys! Bambi looked behind him to see if we were still close by. Me: Don't look back! Keep running! Keep running! Marmam: He's readying another shot! Oh god, I forgot hunters have more than one chance at landing a hit! We kept running as the trees got closer and BANG! It landed a hit. My heart skipped a beat, but it hasn't stopped. So, I shut my eyes tightly and stayed on Bambi's tail. Once we got to the safety of the thicket, I looked back to see his mom never made it. She must've taken the bullet to save me. Bambi: We made it! We made it, mother! Me: Not all of us did. Bambi: Wait... Mother? He got out of the shelter and called to his mother. The snow fell from the sky as if the forest was morning her death. I sadly walked up to him as he wore a worried look. Bambi: Where's mother? Me: *sighs* Bambi,... Your mother... She's... She's not coming back. Hearing this, Bambi began to cry. I laid down and held the fawn in my paws as we mourned her death. Soon, the Great Prince arrived and we looked up at him.
