A while back, I looked up "Nier Automata: Video Essay" in hopes of rewatching the work that you did. But for a while, I struggled to find it. In fact, I couldn't find it. I hadn't remembered your channel name, and so I wandered the KZfaq search territory jumping from one video essay to another, realizing a few minutes later that this is not the piece I was looking for. Until a few weeks ago, I decided to look up videos where I left a comment, knowing that I did leave one behind on that Nier piece. And I found your work again, but to my surprise, it was Unlisted, and I... was honestly unsure why. I wanted to leave behind another comment asking, but I decided to just enjoy the work once again. And now, this appears, and I am glad to revisit your work. I am writing this 1 minute and 6 seconds into the video. Just the introduction alone caught my attention spectacularly, and I'm excited to see how you've improved.

Thanks for taking the time to write such a well-worded comment. I went on a sort of rewrite spree and wanted to see if I could improve my older videos with the knowledge I've gathered in these few years I've written and made videos. I found alot of the potential of my older videos was trapped behind my lack of experince, and I felt kinda stuck with them - unable to move forward to new things. I guess that's the best I can describe what I'm up to here.

i picked this game up to kill time while i was bedbound recovering from surgery.i never got to the second ending, let alone past it, and knew i was missing out on something huge but just didnt have the stamina to keep playing. i really appreciate this video for walking me through the crux of it and confirming that this game really is as deep and impactful as everyone said it is.

You have a way with words like no other. To describe the inescapable horror of humanity in such a heartfelt manner is incredible. Not only that but to make tangible the story and idiosyncrasies of the medium so that we, the viewer, can *feel* it is amazing. This. Your video - your channel, is a reason to live, nay rage, against the dying of the light. We (one) might not be Prometheus, but his fire is certainly still alive here. What an incredible video.

Oh I am SO happy you are doing your thing with this game specifically. It's on a very short list of games that punched me in the heart, most of which you have either covered or I predict will cover soon (Journey, Disco Elysium, Pathologic, etc).

Don't get too comftorable with this pace. :D These last few videos have been reworked and rewritten versions from my older videos so they've been a little less cumbersome to bring together. Usually it takes me something between a month or two to finish a video. Thanks for taking concern! All the best to you!

This was actually the second video I ever made (few years ago), but this video is a total rewrite and rework of the original one... So yeah, this game was one of the reasons I decided it can be a worthwhile endeavour to write about games.

It tickled me immensely that an intelligent commentator, who has played through the source material (I assume) multiple times, wrote “I don’t get the minutiae.” That says more about the convoluted nature of these kinds of storylines than our inability to grasp everything lol.

Can't say I played NieR (tried the demo, really didn't gel with it) but glad I saw this and kinda wish I enjoyed it more to be able to experience it. Amazing video though!
