And even better once Chetney turns invisible so the car appears to be self propelled. Although the best image may be Laudna in form of dread driving with a werewolf on the back. This is definitely a contender for best/funnest episodes in all of crit role.

Honestly the invisible werewolf was the worst part. I'm imagining a scene like on the cover of a Rat Rods magazine. Werewolf driving with a small form but exaggerated upper body to emphasize strength. Laudna in back with a fanged smile stretching ear to ear completely blacked out with the entire chopper blacked out oozing black tentacles flying in the draft winds. It's hilariously fantasy Mad Max and I cannot stop wanting to draw it. I wonder if anyone else has.

Man, in my mind, I just LOVE to think that Dancer was watching the race, and saw FCG just pass by as a Wheel.

Same. But it hurts with dancer. At the first 30 min of the vod. 2 different scenarios in my mind. One, dancer ment to leave fcg behind to do some thing, to sever the bind and bond to do bad things, nefarious intents.. Two, dancer woke up after and made a arm of out what ever was left behind and kept on going. Totally innocent and not knowing fcg survived

At 1:03:37 Sam says they take either radiant or necrotic damage depending on whether he is good or evil. Sam and Matt give each other a look whilst never acknowledging which one it is. My sirens are going off on this one

I think my favourite thing about the Erika reveal is that Ashley gets so caught up trying to figure out the 90 year/6 year time discrepancy that she completely ignores Birdie saying she's never met Dusk before. Which is also totally in character for Fearne.

Birdie opened up a plothole with that answer. Remember in a past episode Imogen was talking to Fearne's parents and mentioned she was with Fearne AND Dusk yet Birdie didn't say anything about not knowing a Dusk at that time.

I love Fearne and I love Ashley. I'm really hopeful this kicks off some major character development for her because this is a BIG screw-up on Fearne's part. This whole time she has flaunted her tricksiness as a fey being like it's no big deal even going so far as to arrogantly proclaim "No more rules," in this very arc. Now she gets flim-flammed by another fey creature into directly hurting someone she loves and you can't help but think she is to blame.

@@laoxepHe definitely figured it out, and it makes sense chetney would too cause he's a sleeper hit when it comes to intelligence. He wouldn't have watched the episode (or at least not that part). Travis loves the game (maybe the most out of everyone) and he would want it ruined for him by knowing/spoiling stuff he shouldn't know.

FCG should be a wheel, and as it is the (as established) the most vulnerable point on the car, should be shot by everyone. The Wheel had an ac of 20, so he should be an "Easy" and Obvious Target that the Opponents are smart enough to Shoot. Or not, because Reasons.

Didn't check all the mentions in the vid but yeah, Sam mentions the damage is radiant if you are good aligned (and neutral), necrotic if you're evil, and then they just kept saying "damage". Tho, huh... I mean, I've seen the latest FCG revelations so like ... Does that officially make him evil? Seems odd to muddy the waters like that, with not being explicit on the spectral turtle damage... Even with what's happening with him, I don't see him as "evil aligned" for the spell... But maybe that stress thing affects it?? Hmm...

I do love how typically Ashton is/reminds everyone on how he's emotionally unavailable to the group, but would seek out certain members who look distressed and give them advice or listen to them. Actions betray words when it comes to Ashton sometimes. Edit: Or like how he seems rather unpleased in being called a good person, and yet would rush in to help people. Lot's of cool details like that.

@@ZyroShadowPony You absolutely should, A) just because it's fantastic in it's own right (I enjoy it slightly more than C2 believe it or not, and I love C2.) and B) the way things are going in C3, having C1 under your belt will be very helpful and make it so much more enjoyable. Laudna and Orym are basically C1 walking spoiler time bombs lol.

i didn't pay that much attention to fjord in the early campaign but by the end he was one of my favourites. the arc he went through and his journey of self actualisation, finding his own path and deciding what kind of man he wanted to be.. gosh travis impressed me so much and i am really enjoying chetney so far

I can only imagine that ending is going to be the biggest dent to Fearne’s ego, since the beginning of the campaign she’s been so proud of her ability to basically trick anybody, and now somebody has pulled the rug out under from her hoofs in the most threatening way possible, the way she flustered over the 6/90 year inconsistency feels like it was just the start of it.

I love that Chetney, Orym and Imogen all clocked that there’s something weird about Dusk but Orym and Imogen were so secretive and prone to hold on to their suspicions that they did nothing, while Chetney was just a chaos gremlin that wanted to see how it would work out so in the end no one was prepared for that reveal lol

SPOILERS I'm confused, why are some people saying they think Laura was metagaming? I fully thought that her casting the detect thoughts was because she saw Dusk making off with Laudna and was worried Dusk was gonna make a move again or something. I mean, Dusk had asked Imogen if anything was going on between them, it was established that Imogen was jealous of Dusk and Laudna's closeness, Laudna and Imogen had just had a HUGE fight, and Laudna had confided in Imogen when they made up about Dusk's confession and how uncomfortable she felt. Yeah Laura had said before she avoids casting detect thoughts on allies... but what part of their interactions gave you the impression that Imogen thought of Dusk as an ally?? I mean the primary emotion I got from Imogen was jealousy... Thus, Imogen casting that detect thoughts to see what Dusk's response to Laudna's rejection would be makes a lot of sense to me.

I totally agree. Dusk had been trying to drive a wedge between Laudna and Imogen and Laura had played up the her jealousy, even outright venting to Orym about it. She and Laudna make up and then Dusk played that same heartstring again. Of course Imogen was gonna pry

One thing that I love about Matt - and it shone through in this ep - is how, as a DM, he has 0 ego. When rules are blurry, he always considers the sake and fun of the narrative and the explanation behind what the players want to do to make his decisions, and that's what makes it extremely fun to watch. I've played with a few egomaniac DMs that wouldn't allow any of this because they actively wanted to "beat" the players in the game, and it was awful.

German accents on the other hands can be very, very fiddly, to the point that even Liam had trouble with it at the start of the campaign, and even through to the end it was always a little British. Lets not downplay Marisha’s capabilities here.

My favorite little part about this episode is at 3:26:44 when Travis (as Chetney) flexes his claws in anticipation for any betrayal Dusk might enact. It's just so subtle because now we know Dusk's true intentions but he caught on to it before anyone else. And that little nod of satisfaction when Dusk instead uses Lay on Hands to help Laudna? (chef's kiss)

Same! I was also waiting for her to take the opportunity to let Laudna keep making death saves or just shove her off, surprise attack Chetney, and take over the crawler to thin out the group so she had fewer people to go through later when she attacks the Calloways. Watching Travis prep Chetney to intercede if Dusk made that choice and then relax was great. I was also somewhat expecting Chetney to stay right up on Dusk as she walked into Joe's and have a wolf shift ready for her to do whatever she's doing. I was so ready for him to just pop up behind her with a clawed hand around her throat like "I don't think so, missy" at the end there, with her being so focused on Fearne and Birdie, but sadly it didn't happen that way. Super excited to see how they deal with it next episode!

@@bantumboy3261 BRUH do you know what kind of player Travis is?? If he had actually caught real evidence of what Erika/Dusk was planning (real life stuff such as: Watching the past stream, getting spoiled online, catching their text messages) he wouldn't have done anything to reveal it. He's an amazing player who literally ALWAYS sacrifices "cool" moments for his characters to preserve the game for Matt, his friends, and us. He didn't metagame, he figured it out.

funny enough, didnt watch c2 but i did watch c1 and they regularly insight checked guests. i dont remember them doing a single insight check on dusk. but it also made for the glorious scene of ashely saying now it all makes sense with such a look of surprise

So of course he's gonna rock some myth busters characters and mad max racing. He's built all of this into plausible and honestly welcomed changes to fantasy D&D. If you didn't know this was coming, you should definitely watch the other campaigns for clues.

She has been super suspicious from their point of view. What are the chances of running into soon who knows you parents, in a town neither of you have ever been in? What are the chances that this person also happens to have forgotten all details about themselves, but still remembers your parents? Now add on that she happened to have a perfect piece of identifying info? And remember, Chutney is a suspicious character, he doesn't trust anyone, I think Orym also was starting to suspect which is why he dueled her, I think he wanted to see what she was.

@@MrJoBilly he had been clocking mysterious rolls and times that she had been texting Matt across the table silently in the background of other episodes so he knew there was something Erika was secretly planning with him that raised suspicion, and he said sometime over the weekend all the inconsistencies just hit him. He’s definitely been suspicious of her for awhile, just not making it clear that he somehow got it DEAD FUCKEN ON!

It makes sense in-story though, if a new PC comes in and people don't question it then they would be breaking the 4th wall cuz that's a friend in RL, and everyone online would criticize the group for it. It's also fine, the people who come are their friends happy to play a game with them, so there's no need to feel bad!

Notice how he is conferring with Marisha and Travis well before the reveal. In particular, it's Sam who suggests Ring of Mind Shielding -- an item that Marisha's Patia had -- that prevented Imogen from reading Dusk's mind. I think as per usual Sam is playing dumb later on after the reveal.

@@romxxii As per usual I think people give Sam waaaaaaaaaaay to much credit lol. He's smart dumb. He'll notice one thing super important but forget (or never know to begin with) that there's sorcerers in the party lol. "Playing Dumb" covers only so much, it's a brilliant ploy he's got going, to make it seem like everything he does is part of a plan or a joke, and of course he caught all the details, he's Sam. Nah. He also reacts quickly and strategically to new information which makes it seem like he's known for a while. You can usually tell whether he actually got something vs when he didn't if you're paying close attention.

IIRC for cleric spells that have a good or an evil version, it usually depends on the alignment of the deity the cleric draws his power from, not on the alignment of the cleric himself. So for FCG it is a little vague because he doesn't really have a deity and doesn't actually know where his cleric powers come from

@@chrisrudolf9839 5e did away with descriptors and how positive/negative energy worked in previous editions where deity and cleric alignment mattered. You technically don't even need to be near your deitys alignment, although it's unlikely to gain a gods blessing without somewhat overlapping morals or goals. Not that I disagree with your note on his relationship with his cleric power source not (as far as we know) being a deity. Just noting that good v evil spells are merely subjective in 5e, not actually categorized, and there's minimal relationship between alignment and cleric deity that is more based on circumstances than mechanics.

Yep. I already was using ship combat with triremes, but now I will update those rules based on how Matt handled the vehicles here, plus, I came up with something similar but with skyships and dragonriders.
