This product contains the Sixth and final video depicting a U.S. Army Liuentenant
dreaming about upcoming COIN operations in Iraq, 2008. In the first dream, he
makes several key mistakes that lead to mission failure. When he awakens, he
recalls his mistakes, and applies those lessons when he falls asleep and dreams
about same mission. Videos 2-6 chronicle subsequent dreams of the same
mission as the Lt makes and corrects different mistakes. This series of videos
is based on the book, "The Defense Of Jisr Al Doreaa," which was written in the
style of Swinton's "The Defense of Duffer's Drift."

This troop runs so efficiently, and seems well supplied. In reality, poor Connors would be filling out DA-forms for supplies outside of the TO&E, be short of trip flares, wire, and sandbags. One of the M1114's would be sent out for maintenance, and a MK-19 would be down. CPT - "Connors; We have no interpreters available, so do the best you can. Any other questions?" Connors - " Sir, I, uh.... No, sir..."

I wish these were all mandatory prior to deployments back in the day. Unfortunately, each soldier is fighting his own war for his own reason like protecting the guys next to him at all cost, personal glory or do whatever it takes to go home. It can be tough sometimes to see te big picture.

I sincerely apologize for mentioning this, as it may seem harsh and inappropriate. However, I was already familiar with the cultural aspects which the Lieutenant only learned in the field. This is due to my upbringing and family connections, which differ from most Americans. Though I am a civillian, I have basic understanding and appreciation that the United States armed forces have limited time for cultural training, . It is my understanding that the majority of US military personnel receive social interaction training inferior to what is provided even to US law enforcement personnel! From an emotional standpoint, I am very disappointed -- and in fact, I am enraged -- that the Lieutenant did not receive adequate cultural training. I expected he would not have received enough compared to what I know, but I only know a small amount -- while effectively, Connors was given no advance information about their culture. I find that infuriating. We must dismantle the corrupt influence of the American petrochemical industry. It is crucial to acknowledge that purchasing oil from the Middle East, knowing that a portion will definitely support terrorism, is either highly unpatriotic or treasonous. Those who can contribute to the green revolution but choose not to due to greed are on the path of malevolence and evil. Furthermore, until US petrochemical workers can transition into other fields, it is essential for the government to provide financial support comparable to their previous earnings in the industry. Otherwise, those workers will justifiably fear and resist the green revolution. Frankly, Satan is using our dependence on oil as part of his plan to annhilate us, and it is working.

The video is using Connors as an example of what NOT to do, so that when soldiers actually arrive, they see his mistakes and do not repeat them. That's the whole point of the story.

It's also notable that this is circa *2008.* The most the average American knew about the middle east was that it had oil, people who wore funny clothes, spoke a different language, and a guy named Saddam Hussein who they gave the boot. 2008 America was a uh... A place, for sure.

+Abuse of mainstream media can harm your mind! Remember that this particular training video is when the soldier has failed five other times and learns from all his mistakes. Obviously not every commander has such foresight, and in the heat of the moment many buckle underneath the strain of maintaining those 16 fundamentals while also remembering protocol and the like. It's a shame that the true product is the sadness that is Afghanistan, but on a brighter note, Afghanistan is quickly improving and the military seems competent enough (in comparison to Iraq's military in shambles due to American political skewing and a pressing situation leading to corruption and inefficiency) showing that while the aforementioned video is very true, at the same time Vice released a newer documentary about how the Afghani government is handling the problems. All in all, no problem is magically solved, it requires constant watchful eyes, such will be the case with Iraq, and hopefully we don't try putting minority Shiites in almost total power, because ISIS is exactly what is the result. Too much pull in the right direction takes you too far over there, and the reactionary reaction is something to fear in all planning.
