You may never have seen the Dell GTX 670, but it could once be found inside various PCs including Alienware systems. These days you can pick up a 670 for a pretty reasonable price, but should you, and is this specific model any different from the rest?

When I was building my first gaming pc I had the choice between this and a R9 280X, and I chose the latter. I think I made the right choice, that one extra gig of VRAM helped a lot.

A HD 7970 was my first card back in 2012..happy to see it still kicks ass lol. Haven't personally tested it in a long time but seen alot if benchmarks

Darzo My 7770 I had sadly seemed to be struggling when I stopped using it regularly. I used it a few weeks ago and it did okay in some games. Doom 2016, for example, got 30-40FPS on low 1080p, where as my 2070 Super gets like 200 on Ultra at 1080p...

@@Sirdiggar I still had GTX 670, it was... broken, not completely but when I put it, it go with artifact etc, after that I moved to RX 480, but that sadly broken too, maybe It was a bad decision bought that from 2nd hand and maybe the former user went mining with that. For now I stuck with my backup card, the R7 before I can afford maybe the 1660 or 1650S. And voodoo3 was good, I never own it back then, I forgot my 1st video card because I was too young back then, but the 1st gpu that I bought maybe the Riva TNT before I upgraded to GeForce 2 and after a while to GeForce 4MX.

I'm still using EVGA GTX660 Sc. Works ok for me. I don't have money for new AAA games anyway, It runs all my older games well. Living in the past, playing games that were new in 2012-2016. I still have fun playing games on it. Even got GTA5 running on it. As always, a quality well informed video, Noice.

Another great video as always. After watching this I compared the GTX 670 to the 960. They seem fairly comparable, and sell for roughly the same price used. That being the case I'd think the newer 960 would be the better choice.

RX 580 is less than $200 USD if you can swing that, it’s a pretty competent card and will run 1080p medium settings pretty well.

I still stand by the 670 and 7950 being bare minimum (but very playable) 1080p cards. Hasn't changed in many years shockingly.

My old Zotax GTX 670 is now in a little media/light gaming PC i built this week following your last video, i dusted it off and was was hitting 80c too, but then i did the old trick of the washers behind the CPU die screws for better compression I saw somewhere on KZfaq, and BOOM, down to 70c in games now!

I remember buying the 670 when it came out knowing that it would more powerful than the upcoming consoles (which technically is true) and loving how well it did at the time. Many years later I had to downgrade to an HD7950 as a backup from selling my gtx970 and my god the 7950 is just a better card in every way. At the very least it was much more future proofed with the extra VRAM and overclockability. Still love both cards!

Great video as always! I know this may seem to be a hefty project, but could you do a video comparing the gtx 600/700 series cards vs their amd 7000/r9 200 competitors? E.g. r9 280 vs gtx 770 etc

There is no competition 280x destroys Nvidia. Sure he can test it in old games like CsGo and Wot to make Nvidia looking better. As you can see he is testing 670 in games that are still decent with Kepler.

Surprisingly I have the same exact card but its branded as a 'Manli' (yea never heard of it). This card belonged to my uncle and was bought on ebay as part of a prebuilt system. Cool to see it labelled as a dell.

If you want more fps on Warzone, set particle quality on High (yes it actually gives a few more fps), enable both of the shadow caches and turn FOV all the way up to 120 (seems counter intuitive but actually boosts fps).

I have two Rigs. One from middle of 2018 with gtx 1080ti i78700k, The other one is from late 2012 with a unkown i5 and The beutiful and legendary gtx 670. Man that card still amazes what it have been able to do almost 8 years later and its still working hahah

A good gpu for another couple years at 1080p and 1440p is one of the factory OC GTX 980 ti's. Got a gigabyte windforce extreme and performs very well.

Well, for fallout 4, in my experience, i suggest to turn to medium Shadow distance and Shadow quality and download the ultra quality god rays performance fix ( with this mod you can play with ultra god rays without the Fps drop) P.S. also, i suggest to visit this link: www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/3skr7o/ultimate_fallout_4_pc_tweak_guide/ it contains the ultimate ini and performance tweaks for fallout 4 (it works even on fallout 3 and NV). have a good play folks

Another thing with maffia 2 used to be lowering or turning of physx not sure if the new version has it but could help with the frame rate a fair bit not installed the new version yet as i am planning a new pc build .

@RandomGaminginHD 1 of the main reasons OEMs sell “reduced spec” cards is because the GPU’s don’t meet the required spec off the wafer so the manufacturer sells them cheap with a reduced spec they will meet.

Excellent Tweaking. Feels unreal that its a 2gb card from that far back doing so well. Im amazed, but GPU taken into consideration really makes a difference. You didnt Mention Drive... Was this on SSD?

That's how the NVIDIA base models looked. They weren't called Founders Edition yet, they were simply the design that NVIDIA created so the board partners could offer a new card at launch date. I've still got a GTX 680 lying around from EVGA. It's the NVIDIA design (a plastic shroud with a blower) and some stickers slapped on.

I’m replacing my secondary PC’s GPU which had a 770 with an RX570 to play some basic games. A lot of new games just are not well optimised on Kepler cards even 750Ti beats it in some games.

I have replaced my 780ti with a RX 570 and my 750ti with a 4gb RX 560 because nVidia have basically stopped any forward work on that branch of cards so it feels, the 8gb card is amazing but the 4gb is like a new sunrise, both my machines have risen reborn with new life with my Warcraft stuff run in top everything ticked something I haven't had an option of in years. Train Simulator looks amazing on both cards and that is a serious card workout, ATi's Crimson a breeze to work with.

The cpu doesn’t have much control over the gpu, Overclocking just makes the cpu faster. It improves nothing else.

I got 55fps avg on Medium in Steam version Outer Worlds with a Dell 670 and an i7-2600 (8GB RAM) Also got 105 in Fortnite on Medium. evga 670 here. o/ it's still chugging along watercooled with an ancient chipset high flow block and directed case airflow for the vrm. i got it used for 50€ a year ago and it's been running 1.2GHz steady with 160% power limit for a long time (blew up a crappy psu..) but it clearly degraded, either the core itself or some part of the vrm and was in the 99 percentile in userbenchmarks. it's now limited to 1.1GHz due to the aforementioned degradation. times it's been running folding@home 24/7 lately for you know.. "the voldemort". :)

One you may find surprising is the dell oem gt 640, it has ddr5 made by samsung. Snappy card. 1gb, but Im fairly sure its OC'd, base gpu 954mhz, with memory 1250mhz. It is older but very capable in hd. GPU GK107 A2 revision. Honestly feels a bit faster than a 650 ti I had go bad. Not saying go buy one, but if you get your hands on one, it will surprise you.

Shows how much performance they can pull out of these current gen base consoles with optimizations. I remember my pc with a gtx 660 would run bf4 and other titles better than a ps4 when they first came out, now it looks like a 660 struggles to even run cod these days while the base ps4 can run it no problem.

They run it with a ton of effects disabled. Sometimes i'll play a PS4 or Xb1 games and it looks like its using below miinimum settings. also keep in mind the 660 release way before the base consoles launched.

Good enough for me at 1080p. Most settings for High/Ultra even Medium don't matter unless you're taking screenshots.

660 Ti has a narrower memory bus, it's just a cut-down 670.

The Windforce GTX 670 tri fan 4gb was the best IMO. It is an overclocking king compared to the Dell gtx variant. Even though it can't use all 4gb VRAM it still can outperform a 2gb Gtx 670 equivalent.

My pc runs a gtx 660 it easily hits 60fps on older games but struggles a lot on newer ones. (i have a ryzen 7 2700 with it so definitely the gpu thats holding the fps back)

i found an (they claimed) OEM RX 570 that has the sort of the same blower like the reference GTX 1080(just like in the video, all black, 1080 blower-style).
